Thanks for a comprehensive install video. I finished my Fuelx install yesterday. The instructions in the package were useless, and I would've spent at least couple of hours figuring out what to do, your video came in handy!!

The rubber strap near the battery is for holding the factory tool kit
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
Ahh, makes sense, although I'm going to keep it strapped regardless, as it's helping keep the plastic cover around the battery in place too.

I was looking at a svart or vitpilen for my first bike until I heard about a common issue where the bikes stall out at low rpms or when downshifting because they're designed to run lean for emissions regulations. Did a little digging and some people on forums said a mod like this solved that issue for them. I'd love to hear your input overall if you see this comment
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 5 месяцев назад
I have heard that the FuelX Lite helps. I have rarely had this random stall issue, but it HAS happened to me four or five times over 21 months of ownership. It has happened to me post-FuelX install as well, so I wouldn't say the FuelX completely solves the issue, but it seems to help. When it does happen, it is usually in the first five or ten minutes of riding while the motorcycle is warming up and when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear as I approach a stop. I've never had it happen to me later in a ride (maybe other people have, but it seems like a warming up thing, so be mindful of how the bike is responding early in your ride).

I believe the suggestion was to ground out on the other bolt that is not being used just like the other wire is being grounded. Instead of using the battery
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
Yeah, as long as it is grounded. I followed the manual that came with it. As long as you have a good grounding connection you’ll be fine. If the grounding position is poor you may have connectivity issues with the FuelX Lite. I haven’t had any issues yet in this install configuration (grounding to the battery per the manual). If I do, I’ll report back ASAP.

Thank you as well! Love hearing suggestions and how people are setting up their bikes. I just finished a 3 hour and 20 minute ride, and while it was a little wet out, it was a blast as always. I put in a K&N air filter (new airbox cover hasn’t arrived yet) and was glad to have the FuelX Lite already installed to protect the engine. Noticeable power increase with the new filter. I just couldn’t stop riding today, but was finally getting tired and had to head home. 🤪

Just want to point out - all the fasteners on the bike are metric - not imperial. The bolt that small side panel holding in the ignition coil is a 5mm. 3/16 is actually a bit smaller than 5mm, and you could end up stripping it out using that.

Great video, I'm installing my new FuelX lite tomorrow following your guide. Also getting my DNA stage two air filter this week. After installation, what did you noticed in the bike? Vibration or throttle changes? Cheers!
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
After the filters and FuelX I mostly noticed that it pulled more (better acceleration) and was smoother at lower revs. I haven’t noticed any real vibration changes. Throttle is smoother. When the FuelX was calibrating, it felt like there was a power gap in the throttle, but that went away after my first few rides with the FuelX installed.

I got the Fuelx, air filter and airbox cover arriving tomorrow. Thank you for the video, took my notes for the installation. Are you doing a review on the fuelx and results after the mods later?
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
👍🏻 yes I will do a review video as well. But here’s the basics. Love the exhaust and love mirrors in the up position. Loving the FuelX Lite as well. It smoothes everything out nicely and I first noticed it at lower revs. At first it seemed like I was getting a throttle delay at higher revs when I really gave it gas. Like it was too smooth. That has since gone away and now I am getting great response across the full rev range. It auto-calibrates so I’m guessing that was just everything settling in.

Hi, is this device similar to like chip tuning a car's ecu for better performance? (aka stage 1 tuning) And also, does it require other modifications? Or can I just get this device, install it, and enjoy some performance boosts and better response?
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
Not really. It interrupts the O2 sensor and provides input into how much fuel is needed. So it really is a fuel management system for Closed Loop fuel injection to give a richer mixture. Since these run lean in Closed Loop (where the O2 sensor/lambda is used) the FuelX will give you more fuel optimized such that your bike will be smoother. You can certainly install just this and it will provide a great, smooth experience, especially in lower revs. If you want more power, then there are other mods like ECU changes and high performance air filters for more Horsepower.

@@IamAWildMan If you're talking about the 2nd set of wires that can be seen attached to the battery around the 1:54 mark, they appear to be a quick disconnect cable. Common addition that makes it easy to plugin a battery tender / maintainer / trickle charger.

Did you initially have a check engine light after installing? Installed alongside the K&N internal filter and the DNA air box cover/stage 2 filter and I’ve read you’re supposed to let it idle for about ten minutes

I’ve got a check engine light and it only flashes red did you ever figure out the problem?
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 5 месяцев назад
Does it flash red when you give it throttle? Asking because the red flash after install is normal (the first thing it does is flash red). Some people will let it idle to let it learn and adjust. I did not…it keeps adjusting based on riding style , weather, mods, etc. But I did not ever get the check engine light.
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 5 месяцев назад
P.S. two reports of a check engine light in a Duke 390 forum. 1. Was that the connection wasn’t tight down at the lambda sensor. 2. The other report resolved itself after letting the FuelX learn for a few rides and getting gas. That doesn’t really point to a real cause for the check engine light though.
@lightnigbolt7722
@lightnigbolt7722 5 месяцев назад
Thanks I let it idle for about 10 minutes and the green light didn’t come on and I also checked all connections to make sure they were connected correctly. I one was lose but after after fixing it it still only flashes red if it’s in the run position. Need to clear the check engine code to see if that fixes anything

Hi, I am fresh owner of a stock bike. It shutted down / stalled in a pair of downshifting, and second time (yesterday evening) has been seriously VERY dangerous. Would this mod save me for sure to live again that unuseful risk ? (I am not planning to change exhaust, air filter or else). Would fuel consuption increase in a sensible way? or I could not even notice ?
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
That sounds bad enough that I’d have it checked. Of course, make sure you’re using premium fuel because that matters too (I have been using 93 octane/98 RON). FuelX helps with the fueling but if the problem with your bike is something else, then you’ll still have problems. I didn’t have any of those types of stalls in stock config. I have had maybe three stalls like you described over a period of one year (usually when shifting to second from third). Have heard similar stories so maybe some else can chime in if they’ve experienced a lot of this.

@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
@@grafica-corby It's unfortunately a common problem, as I've heard similarly. What I can't say for sure is if FuelX fully solves the issue. I do believe many have said the FuelX helped. I would just hate for you to find that it doesn't help with yours. That said, it's a great mod, and I did it just because I wanted it (and because then a simple change like a high performance air filter didn't damage my engine). It's an easy install. If you try it and it doesn't help, you could always uninstall it and sell it. I doubt you'd have a problem selling a FuelX Lite if you didn't want it anymore. Please report back if you do the install to tell us the results.

@ridingwithgravity401 Год назад
My first ride it didn’t feel much different to me. After that it “normalized.” You can check to make sure the unit is blinking. It blinks red when activated and then if you give it throttle it should light green. My first ride it hadn’t calibrated or anything. I didn’t leave it running or anything after my install. I wanted it to calibrate based on how I ride (not just the bike idle) but I know people have had success doing that and just letting it run for 10 or 15 minutes right after install. Once I had a few cycles of riding it was nice and smooth.

For me, the Lite and it’s auto-calibration was perfect for optimizing the fuel and accommodating some of my performance mods (K&N High Performance Air Filter, DNA High Performance Air Filter). I also only do one type of riding, generally speaking. Ultimately, I didn’t see a compelling reason for me, with this bike, and with my riding style, to need the multiple fuel mappings you get with the Pro model.

Hi , I have a project with my duke 390 , I am buying an adn high flow cap filter ,a k&n high flow filter, I have a full system non catalytic exhaust "akrapovic"(Chinese)😂 and a gray area ktm injector . The question is a Fuel X lite configures all that well? Or do I have to buy a powertronic ECU? I really don't look for final speed, but the as optimal performance and if that gives me more horses is a plus ,but I look for smoothness and responsiveness ,with good performance , I love it but like it lacks something else 💪.
@ridingwithgravity401
@ridingwithgravity401 7 месяцев назад
The FuelX will only adjust for the fueling mixture in closed loop. In open loop you will still be relying on the tuning of the ECU (open loop is usually at higher revs and more open throttle position). Wouldn’t necessarily need the new ECU if you tune the existing one to fit the mods. Getting it tuned (either stock ECU or Powertronic) will just make sure you’ve got the best result. Worth asking around in some of the forums or Reddit as well. With the mods I did (slip on exhaust and two high performance air filters), I wasn’t concerned about open loop…but did think about getting it tuned. Edit: fixed typo
