I love my 32-64...Brutally sharp on Prime level. I do own several prime GF lenses, but the GF 32-64 is amazing. Used it for VOGUE magazine amongst others.

Love your work! Have the 45mm 2.8 as my main lens and think about getting the 32-64 for general landscapes to be more flexible.

How about gf 23mm? Is it more brutally sharp too or 32 64 mm gf, or 45mm gf
@miljo2146
@miljo2146 2 года назад
@@fendykusumohadi the gf23 is awesome as well. In the gfx system it‘s more about what focal length you like to use. All lenses are designed to have superb optical performance. If you want an ultrawide lens maybe you should wait for the new 20-35 Zoom next year. Will be much more flexible than the fixed 23.

I would have truly appreciated if you did a bokeh at its fastest f4 rather than 5.6 . also your thoughts on bokeh quality compared to that of the 45-100. focusing at close and if any issues at infinity . also how it would compare to the quality of that of a standard zoom such a 24-70mm 2.8 . thanks . enjoy your content.

I'm still looking forward an in-depth video about colors, dynamic range and resolution of the Fuji 100s sensor against the XD50II, to see if we are trading just resolution for colors, or if there is more!

Another interesting video might be the fuji gfx 100 sensor vs the fuji gfx 50 sensor. Is the price difference really worth the upgrade?
@mathphotographer
@mathphotographer 3 года назад
It is not only about sensor resolution when you compare the 50-Fujis with the 100-Fujis. It is also about IBIS and new sensor technology. You can shoot significantly longer exposures hand-hold with the 100-Fujis - which is very helpful in low light conditions.
@dcrilley9624
@dcrilley9624 3 года назад
@@mathphotographer Not sure there is any 'trading' of resolution for colour between the 100/100s sensor and that in the Hasselblad bodies. Sure, the colour processing from the Hassleblad is sweet and Math's earlier comparison shows the different outputs. However, the first thing that struck me on my first day out with the 100 having traded a 50s was that the colour gradations from the RAW files were a category better. I am not persuaded that there is any diminution in the quality of the colour information we get from this sensor.

Great Review… although surprised you didn’t mention the substandard build quality. I’m a published photographer and I just purchased the 32-64mm gf. I’ve heard how incredibly sharp this lens is from reviews like yours.. I just received it in the mail. I can tell you right of the box that the build quality of the lens is absolutely disappointing! The front lens barrel is made of cheap plastic, if you zoom out to 64mm with the barrel extended, you can see the seam in the plastic, the whole barrel is plastic and then the front filter mount is metal. To me this is cheap! For $2300, I would have expected better build quality and a more premium lens. I shoot with Zeiss and Sigma Art lenses and I know good build quality. Hope the optics are as good as you say they are.

Thanks Gino, appreciate your feedback. I had never any issues with the 32-64 back then. But let's be fair, the 32-64 was one of Fuji's first GFX lenses and they improved over time with newer lenses. Nowadays I tend to use the 45-100 much more ... there is a review about that lens on my channel.

How do rate the 32-64 MM vs. 45-100mm. I also have the 110 F2. I am using the GFX for studio and weddings. I am in doubt if I should go for 32-64 or 45-100? I thought my lineup could be 3 lenses: 110F2, 100-200 f5.6 and 32-64MM F4. what do you think?

How would you compare the 35-70 to the 45-100?? Are the photos from each reasonably similar? The image quality from the 45-100 is just stellar but that lens is so heavy to carry around all day.

Thanks Janis. The 45-100 is my favorite but image quality is excellent on all Fuji GF zoom lenses. Why I like the 45-100 most is because of two reasons: I think that build quality and operating the lens is best on the 45-100 and I also like this particular focal length range for my range of applications.

A somewhat unrelated question: Since you have the old GFX100 on the desk. As it is available moderately used nowadays for the price of a GFX100S, do you see a significant reason (EVF?) to get this one for more planned shootings? 😊 Do you use it? Thx for your personal! Cheers from Berlin!

Since I have the GFX100s I hardly use the GFX100 ... use it as a spare body but mainly shoot with the GFX100s, its just a more handy camera :)

Have the 32-64mm with the 50R for Landscape. Outstanding setup for my needs. The files on Capture One are sublime and a joy to work with. You could almost call it a Prime-Zoom the files really are that good at every focal length! lol... Be great if Fuji released an ultra wide angle zoom to their GF lineup though. Say a 18-30mm (14-24 equivalent.) Also don't understand why they did such an overlap with their 2 present zoom lenses. 32-64 and 45-100. Should've been something more along the lines of... 32-64 and 70-150 instead, then introduce the ultra wide zoom 18-30 later. That would be a really nice zoom 'trilogy' that would cover a lot of bases. As is though, the 45-100 is too close and too much of an overlap with the 32-64 to justify me buying it. Might go for a true Prime next, not sure which one though? Something outside the 32-64 focal length. Atm the 23 is sitting pretty high on the list. 😊👍

@mathphotographer 3 года назад
Good question on the overlap. There is one significant difference in addition to the zoom range: the 45-100 has OIS in the lens, will mention and demonstrate this in the follow-up video. My guess is that Fuji wanted an OIS standard zoom to combine OIS (lens) and IBIS (camera body) for 6 stops of gain. They developed this adding IS technology later, I guess, and then wanted to come up with an OIS standard zoom which then was the 45-100. Just a guess on my side :)

I shoot landscape and my current kit is 23, 45-100 and 100-200. With the 100s. Very good focal length coverage. Would love to see a wide (14-16FF equivalent) with large aperture for Astro-landscape photography as F4 is not really adequate

Which do you prefer 32-64 or 45-100. If you choose one lens
@mathphotographer
@mathphotographer 3 года назад
I like the 45-100 for people, street and portraits more. For landscape the wider lens 32-64 is more suitable. If I would have to decide for one lens only, I would go for the 45-100 due to OIS in the lens and still a wide enough angle for landscape. The lens OIS can be combined with the camera's IBIS and lets you shoot long exposures hand-hold, gains up to 6 stops. Will show this in the follow-up video.

One thing I will have to say about this lens is that it suffers dreadfully from droop if pointed down - you absolutely cannot use it for copying artwork in the vertical position unless full zoom - - other than this it is great if you can get your head around MF number which do not seem to correlate to anything even remotely recognisable - and I come from a film MF world and have used all formats - just me? Ok
@ginocarlini1640
@ginocarlini1640 Год назад
Mine seems to not have that issue. But this lens has substandard build quality. the front lens barrel is plastic! People don’t noticed cause the front filter mount is metal. But extend the lens barrel and check it.. it’s cheap feeling plastic. On mine I can see the seam in the plastic. For $2300 it should be metal. Fuji cutting corners and charging premium prices!

@@ginocarlini1640 Maybe it was just me - anyway I just switched this week to Hass X2D with the the 38 and 55 ,(the 90 is on its way) - oh dear goodness what a difference - build quality epic- useability - off the charts - focusing - faster - screen - clearer and with more functions that you actually want to use - Image quality - even better than Fuji GFX100 - how I don't know; as they use the same sensor - what a machine
