Bellows: Most GS645 which have not had their bellows replaced in the past will have light leaks or get them. The original bellows are not leather; they are a plastic composite which with age now breaks with use. Replacement bellows have come from several sources and are all of better quality. It's not hard to get the bellows replaced, the best known shop being Camera Wiz in Virginia, about $125. To not be disappointed, allow for this cost as part of your purchase price, regardless of what the seller tells you, unless the seller has a receipt for bellows replacement.

Rumor has it that Camera Wiz no longer does the bellows replacement on the GS645 for lack of a reliable supply of quality bellows. The Chinese versions are crap; you can have a bellows custom made in England, but its getting expensive.

@@randallstewart175 No need to get them custom made. Custom Bellows (www.custombellows.co.uk) in Birmingham, UK sell so many GS645 replacement bellows that they keep them on the shelf. They tell me they are a 3-ply cotton inside a stiffener with a PU cover. 50GBP + tax & shipping. I ordered and had them next day. Just had them fitted into my GS645 and they seem to be a quality item. The company is well known in Large Format circles (search on Camera Bellows Birmingham, or Custom Bellows) for the quality of their bellows. They are used to shipping to the US.

@@stephenlawrence6194 Excellent. Any good resources for the actual replacement process? I've seen it done once by an owner, but with having to work around the tricky shutter linkage (on the GS645) and then having to re-calibrate the rangefinder focus to the lens focus adjustment, I'd personally prefer to have an experienced guy do the job. (The last time I had this done was by Camera Wiz, considered the "go to" guy at the time. The camera came back with a perfect bellows installation, except the focus was significantly out. I had to send it back to the shop, which fixed and returned it properly done, but there you are.)

@@randallstewart175 This is the best tutorial I know of: sites.google.com/view/fuji-gs645-repairs-and-info/home but as you say it is not straight forward. Luckily I have a local Fuji repair specialist in the UK and asked him to do the work.

I liked this, very straight forward and informative. Having used rangefinders for years, I'd only take issue with the statement that "it isnt good for action" which could be untrue. Street photography could be considered action by some, and this camera would be awesome for that, whereas, no, it probably would not be great for shooting a soccer game. Otherwise, real solid video. Also, you can buy replacement bellows pretty easily online.

By "not good for action", I think he means the slowness of operation. The focus, shutter and aperture rings are located next to each other on the lens barrel in a fairly cramped manner. Although each ring has a different shaped tab to control it, these adjustments are not done by feel only unless you have great experience with the camera. So, you end up taking the camera away from your eye each to check which control you are holding before you make an adjustment. I fine that distraction to be "slow" as well as the most negative aspect of the camera.

I just got the GS645, when I opened the back to remove film roll it loose instead of being tight.

For me focusing with a rangefinder is much easier than focusing with a manual slr. If you practice enough you can be faster and more confident than the average autofocus!

What kind of metering does it do? Spot? Center weighted? Could not find that Info anywhere...

@@randallstewart175 Of course, if you want to know everything about the camera, read the manual !!! Not everyone is going to tell you every detail, and most "reviews" on YT just barely cover the basic features. I know, it's a simple camera.

Unfortunately I'm about 6 years too late for the prices on all these cameras. The vintage fad has hit driving the prices up to 5 times (in some instances) the amounts you quote on the videos. Such is life. Great videos though.

one in great condition will still run you 700$ but my comment was actually about some of the other cameras he was reviewing. the vintage camera market is ridiculous. alas the hipsters are to blame lol. @@mattparkin7224

@@mattparkin7224 if you can find one in decent condition you'll be lucky. most go for closer to $800 if they are worth much. anyhow my comment was aimmed at another of his videos where he looks at pricing for a handful of other vintage cameras that I mistakingly posted here. The vintage market has gone nuts in the last year or two.
