out of the ridiculous number of videos i've watched this morning on the XT-4, yours was LITERALLY the only one that made the bleach bypass simulation look good. Actually, yours looks incredible. I'm so curious how you got the highlights to have that glow effect. Almost like Cinestill 800t or something. bravo, sir
Thank you so much!! That’s awesome! So these are straight out of camera JPGs with both color chrome effects set to high and grain set to strong and large. The glow is from a Tiffen Glimmer Glass 1 filter!

They didn't include the X-T100's screen because in theory is the best of both worlds, but in practice it was a tilting screen that could only half articulate. Most people that haven't actually used it wanted it on the X-T4, but having owned the X-T100 made me aware of how finicky the screen was. I do not miss that type of screen, and I'm glad that Fuji didn't port that flawed design into the X-T4.
This video got me to grab an X-T4 and I cannot be happier with my purchase!!! I never thought I'd see an video of a neuromancer (btw your prop design is top tier) giving me gear advice. Thanks again for all you do!
This is one Camera that other manufacturers should take full notice on ... From ergonomics & beautiful looks, fully articulating screen, easy still/movie switch, packed with Cinematic features,etc.... As Hughe Branson said quite correctly, " Boundary Busting, Headache inducing, & Jolt to rest of industry ",.. I wish this was a full frame camera then it would have taken the Crown ....well done FUJI 👌👌👌👏👏👏
Thank you so much! I actually have a disability too! What about the screen do you like? I actually cannot bend any of my fingers and have slightly weaker muscles than most people so I shoot from the hip a lot and I find that I miss the ability to have the screen tilt up for waist level shooting without having to fold it out.

Great summary. It looks a phenomenal camera. However I currently have a X-T2 , X-Pro2, X-T3. Can barely tell the difference which camera took which picture. I am not into video so those features are wasted on me. Did a test as I regularly do with Fuji equipment @200% magnification between the T1 T2 T3. Conclusion. The sharpest was T2, best dynamic range T3, nicest looking results T1. Just buy a Fuji XT camera depending on your budget and you will love it.
I really like your videos! I applaud Fuji for the improvements and quick release and the made in China X-T4 has great improvements but feels half baked with the port covers and cheap flip screen. Finally a RU-vidr that gives an intelligent unbiased review, particularly regarding the articulating screen. The X-T100 and Panasonic S1H screens are brilliant so I purchased the X-T3 at $1199 and hope the X-H1 or X-T5 addresses the shortcomings of the X-T4.
Thank you! I have a lot of Chinese friends and visit China often so I definitely believe that not all things made in China are bad. You can't make 2/3 of the worlds goods and not get good at it eventually ;P I'm not a huge fan of the way the screen was implemented for sure. Makes it really annoying to shoot candid photos from the hip.
Wow you're the only channel I've seen actually mention what bleach bypass is and its film related history, instead of just saying "it's a new simulation and i dont care for it".
Great review as always! I like the new features, but I think I’ll stick with my XT-3 for now. I agree with what you said about IBIS. To me, IBIS seems more like a feature a videographer or vlogger might want. I have always seen the Fuji XT series as a camera for DPs, who also want to take pictures. But hey, maybe Fuji is trying to expand their market.

concur with flippy screen comments and it being easily breakable, probably see a lot of Sony users get if their horses and switch to Fuji. Loving that subway shot and the bleach bypass info.

I've been waiting/saving for a new Fuji for a number of years since the xpro1 deal back in 2015 (xpro1, 18mm plus 27mm for £350). The xh1 was selling for £699 in the uk when the release the xt4 at £1550. I went for the xh1 as I can get some lenes instead. However the xt4 does look amazing and I wonder what will happen to the cost when the xh2 (with its 42mp sensor) releases
someone mentioned that the flip screen design allows for better weather sealing . but totally agree that I very much wish the XT100 screen would make a come back instead. able to tilt the screen up down for low high angles without needing to flip the screen out of the camera's frame. wonder why the 'stronger" IBIS wouldnt be designed for running action scenes and say that it simulates a "gimbal" not that its good / better but thats just what it sounded like initially with time , pretty sure there will be updates to the new features soon.
Love your videos. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on the new X-T5. The 40.2 Megapixel sensor seems powerful, but I have to wonder if it's actually noticeably better than the classic X-T3. I just want a camera that can shoot 4k60p that looks as close as possible to real film. Considering the X-T3 is going for like half the price now, not sure if the new X-T5 is really worth double for supposedly better autofocus, IBIS, and higher resolution.
The main thing I really want to know - when it is switched into “movie” mode - do I have quick access to changing my ISO, frame rate and codec etc??? That’s the only thing that bags me about the X-T3, especially when it’s in a cage.
Also, I know you said when I’m video mode, that I can change my shutter and ISO using the front and back wheels, rather than the dedicated dials - that sounds like it would fix half of my issue :)
Great detailed review. I am on your side of the flip screen. I love the vari-angle screen Fuji used for photography. It was perfect. The flip screen is amateur. Who films themselves staring at a flip screen, and in studio its to small. When I put an L bracket on my fuji for landscape shots I will not be able to use the screen other than flush faced. It will be like going back to old DSLR days. You were spot on saying they should have use an xt100 style that can do both, but even that can not angle in portrait orientation. Fuji is clearly listening to the youtube crown for their development. Not sure that's the best thing. There are a lot of amateur's that don't know what they want until they use it and figure out it was not the best idea.
Thanks for the great video. What I don't understand is that you don't seem to care much for IBIS nor for the articulating screen, so what attracts you about this camera? Your video feel more like an argument against upgrading, and for keeping the X-T3....Did I miss something? The only attractive feature for me at the moment seems to be the dedicated movie controls. First of all congratulations for the content , quality and everything you produce ! You put effort and love and that shows. I am a tattooer and I own a tattoo studio , I’m not a photographer , I want to get my first camera to take photos of my tattoos some little videos as well ( not that important though but i would appreciate it ) photos of my merch my studio etc . If I get really use to it I’m sure I use outside my studio as well. I would love great image quality etc but above all I like my products to have character and soul . I did a little research I’m sure I want fujifilm , the best solutions out there look like it’s the x100v , xpro3 , and this xt4 . I would really appreciate to hear which you suggest ! Personally, I like the flip out screen. I’ve only ever used a Canon T3i (8 years and running), so it’s all I’ve ever known. Every time I test out the other screen (on Sony’s mainly) that sort of lifts up and off at Best Buy/Dodd.. it just feels like I’m very limited with where I’m able to look. I do a lot of ground level photography, and I barely ever use my viewfinder, so being able to utilize the flip out screen has been a Godsend for me personally. The XT4 looks amazing, I am looking at that to upgrade from my Canon T3i eventually.. or maybe by the time I do the XT5 will be our 😆!
If you are doing straight narrative film making I would say wait for the next upgrade as it still has the same 400Mbps DI 4k 10-Bit and you dont need IBIS for film making.
No 10-bit 422, no waveform monitor, no full size HDMI, don’t care. Honestly in terms of video capabilities for low budget narrativ work the only thing that beats the GH5s is the S1H. I’m gonna stick with my GH5s because I still haven’t found any Super 35 or full frame lenses which I could afford that are as nice as my Veydra Mini Primes.
It depends, mostly yes. But there is a substantial price, storage, and battery management difference between a simple monitor and a Ninja V. And I definitely don’t trust Mirco or Mini HDMI for the stuff I’m doing. I’m not saying it’s not a great hybrid camera for people who just want to upload their videos on RU-vid but my stuff also has to hold up on a cinema screen and I’d be fucked if it weren’t for the incredibly clean dual native ISO of the GH5s. I’m not pushing brand loyalty here, I don’t care about that. There is a right camera for every job, and when you do quick shooting, often in low or natural light, then do intensive color grading or like also I do print film emulation you need a camera that collects enough of the right data. And in the range between $1.300 and $6.000 it boils down to the Pocket 4K/6K, the GH5s, and the S1H. The Pockets are not reliable enough, to cumbersome, have a whole bunch of issues like a super week IR Cut filter, and barely hold up in terms of STNR. The S1H is great but I’d have to use it in Super 35 (which in my eyes is the most practical image area anyways) because of the rolling shutter and then I’m having issues finding affordable lenses. Yes there’re some nice clean vintage lenses out there, but they’re either too expensive or make trouble at the wide end. With the GH5s I get nice dynamic range and noise performance at 400 and 2.500 ASA, good, clean, and bendable colors, a rugged and reliable body with more than average battery life, and a much bigger selection of lenses with the Veydras being a ridiculously nice choice. They have their flaws which can be easily worked around and their look comes uncannily close to the look of the Panavision Primos.

Great channel and subscribed. I have a question. I want to buy a new camera and the two models on my list are the Nikon Z6 Kit or the Fujifilm X-T4 kit. The Z6 is even cheaper at the moment and by 400.- Dollars cheaper. I’m totally torn apart. Which camera would you recommend?
whens the full review dropping? Also how much of a difference do you feel the ibis makes? If you were on a tight budget would you choose the xt3 or the xt4?
Not sure when, if at all I’ll get around to it. It’s basically the same camera as the xt3 but with a more annoying screen. I don’t use IBIS so it doesn’t make any difference to me. I’d go with the xt3, it’s the same sensor and processor. They only thing you miss is 240fps 1080p but I also don’t shoot slow motion much.
I recently invested in an MKX lens but now I’m obsessing over raw video. Do you think Fuji will inevitably release a cheaper camera than the GFX100 (like an XT5) with an external ProRes Raw capability/firmware update? I love Fuji and obviously 10bit is already pretty sufficient, but I love the extra flexibility of a raw codec, even if compressed.
Did you record this video in a dank Borg cube after they stripped you of all emotions? Don't get me wrong, please. I like this video better than 99% of other review videos on RU-vid because it's pretty unique, honestly.
You are scared when you drop the camera when the screen is foulding out, it will break?! Thats right, but when you drop it, it will crush the lens, because its the heaviest part, it will crack out of the body, so dont drop it!
Love the perspective on this camera. This might be the Fuji I'll actually buy. Couldn't get it solidly over 10m, so just put the logo up for 30sec. Whatever works. haha.
That honestly wasn’t the reason hahaha I was rushing to get the video up before midnight (when the embargo lifted) and I just put that logo on there and didn’t realize the length hahah. I’ve never really used any! I really want to try out the BMPCC 4k! Also, I really love the original film PEN-F. Such a beautiful camera with amazing lenses. I’ll definitely be doing a video on that.

I'm not a fan of the side articulating screen. I like Sony's a6400 screen design, although that wouldn't necessarily work on Fuji X-T4. My experience with a side screen was with the Panasonic G7. It's ok I guess. I went to see the Fuji X-T100 screen and that does indeed look much better.
Yes Yes.. The X-T100 screen is what we thought they would be doing! Then the X-T200 put in this amateur one and now it's on here! Why?! That other one was perfect and it can go around the side cables. Those flappy rubber doors too.... What happened to the nice door and headphone jack- remote instead? Put that remote back on the other side with the SD cards like on the X-T3. Argh!
First of all, thank yor that hands on. You are one of the few youtubers who created good Fuji Xt-3 content, color grading, framing etc. So let me ask you one question: what lense you recommend for shooting videos? I PROBABLY will change my system, come from panasonic and I want to buy the XT-4. But I have some questions; is there a histogram available? On the GH5 you have C1 C2 and C3 to quickly switch frame rates. Is there anything similar on the XT4? Is it possible to set the shutter to 180 degree to get the cinema look? I know...a lot of questions but I don`t know anybody who ownes a Fuji camera.

@@GxAce I kinda wonder, why everyone seeks bigger sensor, 8k, high fps, but totally forgets the DR game. What separates cinema cameras from consumer cameras is DR.. and its is on halt.. Will sony a7s 3 have a bigger DR, will gh6 have bigger DR, will XT4 have bigger DR? Even the blackmagic showed no gains in DR with their pocket 6k cameras. :(
