It is incredible how Ricky can be talking about anything and make me happy, these last few weeks I have not had a very good time due to anxiety and I have developed a fear of loneliness, I usually repeat his videos when I am alone and manage to feel in company. Motionless In White has been my support in dealing with this situation and that is why I want to thank Ricky for always sharing a bit of his life with us ❤ Edit: excuse my bad english, i don't speak it well, by the way, i loved the bloopers 😂

I took a photography class my junior year and the teacher had us use film cameras and my life has not been the same since, nothing beats the look of film cameras. Your pictures look incredible. I personally prefer shooting in black and white but I love the contrast of the colours in them.

I'm not sure why it seems more obvious to me in this than other videos but the attention to detail while both shooting and editing is flawless. Somehow a simple camera review is still a beautiful work of art. Maybe it is the complexity in the simplicity that's getting me with this one.

I said before that I didn't really have an interest in photography or filming but it actually does seem like a pretty fun hobby to have, it'd also be nice to be able to capture my life as I go along and to be able to look back on things that I'd otherwise end up forgetting over time

Originally, Ricky, I was here for tour updates, but... Being someone who hasn't studied Photography and Filmography, I was taken aback by all the reviews, the photos that you started putting out! So I 100% am excited for everything that you have given out so far, gear wise! It does help a lot, whereas to other videos that I can't possibly sit and watch for more than 2 minutes. Also... What synchronization, I asked you on Instagram about this camera been used on food and then here comes a review haha! I hope you have a splendid day, no questions this time, I'm afraid I have tired you enough! For itchy face, try a cold rag or waterbottle! This heat wave is excruciating!!!

Those pictures looked so stunning!! I love the filter setting, it brings such a movie-like mood to a lot of those pictures. I always like to take photos, my friends told me that I have talent but i never thought that of me, recently, when I meet you at miw, knew your passion about the photography, you inspired me to take a camera that a friend give me on christmas eve, a Nikon D70 and I started to practice, I always take pics with my phone and this is a new experience for me, I don't have the new tech but I think I can do my best. I'm not interested in photography at all HOWEVER I still watch these videos because it's nice to hear someone talk about a topic they are well educated in. Just the fact that you know quite a bit about cameras/photography and can articulate your words well makes these videos interesting to watch, and I do happen to learn one or two cool things. (: Also one more thing, I don't think many people who are mainly here for tour updates/vlogs will mind seeing more photography related videos. I know I don't so you shouldn't worry about making it more "quick", it's nice to see something different!

I've been taking photos of landscapes and the sky for a very long time and I've always wondered if I can't do that with a camera because I like the quality much better than on my phone. When I saw the photos of the landscapes you took, I was impressed and I'm really thinking about getting this camera as I was very intrigued and my photos might even look better! I love photography and I’ve been looking for a digital camera that captures that film look, so this video is perfect. Too bad I can’t even get the camera lmao… not to mention I hardly use my current camera. This is inspiring me to just get out and take more photos. I definitely don’t need more gear. You’re really good at letting your personality shine no matter what the video is, your channel is just a great place with great vibes. Be it tour vlogs that make me laugh and give me special insight to one of my favorite bands behind the scenes, or a gear video like this, it’s all awesome so keep it up! This is a cool little vid, Ricky! I took one photography class in community college and really enjoyed it. It was for black & white film cameras; the class had its own dark room and we got to print our own photos. I loved it! My dad let me use his old film camera for the class. I've been thinking about possibly taking up photography as a hobby, maybe leading to something more later on, I'm not sure yet. But genuine question if you end up reading this: Are you learning about photography/filmmaking through classes/lessons of some sort or are you self taught? You rock, Ricky! Stay cool!

Thanks, Regina! B&W film is awesome. Your experience sounds really fun. It's definitely not for everyone, and it's also an EXPENSIVE hobby. To answer your question: I'm a little of both. I took video classes throughout high school which initially sparked my interest in the cinema world. Over the years I've taken a handful of classes and watched a billion tutorial videos. I'm much more interested in video than I am photo, but I think my interest in cinema absolutely inspires my photos. It's kind of this weird symbiosis. I'm a fan though! Anyway, good luck with whatever you end up doing!

We had Fuji cams in school for media projects, but I think we had different ones because we did a lot of filming in my last year. But I do remember that they had awesome quality.

A whole video on why this camera is perfect then the ‘Good luck finding one’ slap 🤣 Love the quality of the images, the presets, wish it had the video stability to have it all in one practical camera. It is definitely on my wish list. Keep posting, it really helps. You’re good at translating the language to us who are not familiar with it. What do you use for video editing? Your vibe is so chill btw that it makes me feeI I just watched a 6 minute guided meditation haha.

For an "all in one" option in the Fuji line-up, I'd probably point people toward something like the XT4. Same sensor as this camera, but has better specs oriented toward video, as well as having the ability to change lenses. To answer your question, I use Davinci Resolve for 90% of my videos. Sometimes I'll use Premiere if I need some specific effects. Haha thank you, glad you enjoy hanging here!

As someone who has started researching new cameras (I’d be upgrading from a Canon G12) I appreciate the insight! As much as I’d love to add both this AND a mirrorless system to my arsenal I simply can’t afford both. Decisions, decisions. Though it seems product availability may make that decision for me depending on how soon I want to upgrade. :) Isn’t shooting stuff outside fun? I tried recording a lesson for my speech students outside and my SO decided it was a good time to mow the yard. 🤦‍♀️😂

Did the Kodak/Kodachrome simulators come preset on your camera? Or did you get plug-ins through Lightroom (not sure it transfers sims to camera)? My X-E1 has most of the sims you show, but I’d love to have the Kodachrome . There are sim recipes out there, but I haven’t tried any. Thanks - looking forward to your next vlog!

I believe the Classic Chrome simulation is only available in the newer cameras, unfortunately!

this may be a dumb question, im new to shooting w a camera so i’m still learning the ropes but .. why is it better to shoot raw instead of jpeg if you want to edit the photos later on? i guess i never really bothered asking since i’ve been shooting jpeg since i got my camera and i edit my photos as well. but i always hear photographers say shooting raw is the way to go and i still don’t know why so figured i’d ask. the more you know ! also, i always enjoy your sit down talk and review videos rick they’re very informative. i appreciate the way you lay out the facts and information - makes it much easier to take in all in and it’s always unbiased. thanks !

Basically RAW and JPG are two different photo formats. JPG is a compressed file, which means the file size is relatively small. RAW photos have a much larger file size because they are absolutely full of data. This means that RAW photos can be edited to a higher degree. There is more data about colors, contrast, literally everything. A JPG is like a cake, and a RAW photo is like having all of the ingredients of that cake still uncooked - it's a whole lot easier to change the ratio of ingredients if they're not cooked yet. But memory cards are so cheap these days, that you can just buy a big memory card and shoot in RAW+JPG, so that you have both, without worrying about running out of space while shooting. And then you would edit the RAW photos in something like Lightroom or Camera Raw, for instance.

Would you prefer cannon over Fuji or would you recommend switching to Fuji? I currently have a canon rebel t6 I love it but it’s so clunky and I forget to take it with me cause it requires my camera bag which is even more clunky

I think it depends on how invested you are in the Canon ecosystem. I.e. do you already have lenses, etc for your camera? Might be expensive to switch if that's the case. If you're looking for something small and portable, this camera is great. The only (possible) downside is the camera has a fixed lens, so if you like zooming, this camera may not be for you.

Perhaps the name Fuji reminds u of Mt Fuji⛰️ or outdoors? Is your camera a second hand? If so, how did u managed to get it? I personally don't mind the other contents besides the tour updates because I'm literally here to see u sit and talk. I'm really in awe of the photos u took and posted on Instagram. As you've said, I love the film looks it gives to the photos. Especially when u took photos of memories and moments in life and look back at it. Woah...it truly brings some nostalgic feels to it. Cant wait to see u post more of photos u took using the Fuji camera.
