In this video I compare the Fujifilm XF10 to the Fujifilm X70. While both camera are compact and have the same lens, there are some key differences between them:
- The XF10 is smaller and more likely to fit in a pocket
- The XF10 has a better and more modern sensor
- The X70 has more dials and tactile features
- The X70 has a tiltable screen
Neither camera is ideal for video shooting.

I absolutely agree with you on the size and pocketable part. However I believe x70's sensor produces a bit more original fuji photography when they are both set on the same setting. Hue and saturation on x70 is that of original fuji essence where as xf10 had more of canon like presentation. Of course they can both be set to whatever you choose to being digital products. For everyday use, 16mp and 24mp won't matter too much unless you are going to print poster sized products. For me, x70 worked out better since built quality, manual aperture ring, and tilt lcd made street photography much easier. Yes it's a bit bulkier and hard to pocket carry when compared to xf10. But when I'm so used to carrying around x100s or nikon FM2, x70 size is still an amazing option for most dslr/rangefinder photographers. Thanks for your review. Much appreciated.

use a filter adapter on XF10. I have one that's a 46mm from JJC. and use my ND filters. works like a charm

Great video, thank you. I have been weighing up these two and although I'd really like the flippy screen and top control dials, the weight and ease of getting in and out of pockets is one of the most important factors for me, or the camera will just end up staying at home, so I'm going for the xf10.

@@radioclash84 I have been enjoying it. The focus can be unpredictable and frustrating, but that might be user error. When it nails it, the macro is amazing. I have regretted not having the X70 and pull out screen, but then the sharpness of the xf10 is very nice. It's not clear cut for me, I'm afraid. I occasionally wonder about selling it (to buy other gear) but can never bring myself to part with it because it has given me some beautiful photos. Sorry this is late. Did you buy one?

im still conflicted. why didnt fuji make a X80? sure the XF10 is "better" because its newer but model wise and naming it seems to be a down grade as far as model tier is concern. wondering if you have your own comparison between the XF10 and the GRIII. it seems though most people like to compare the GRIII and X100V i dont find that to be a fair one to one comparison at all, the body is just too different like different tools. but the XF10 is much closer to the same body as the GR but i only have Mattias burling as reference that the XF10 is cheaper and thus the specs are not as competitive as the GR. and so i wonder if fuji could come out with the X80 thats a closer one to one competition with the GR it would be better?

i really hate the lens cap of the XF10. Does the X70 lens cap fit on the X10 if they're the same lens??

Tip: The only useable video mode on the XF10 is 1080p50, it seems like the internal processing is optimized for that (you have no control over it). And turn digital IS off on video! The jumpy IS creates compression artifacts. Only if these settings fit your style it makes sense to consider it for video. But why you'd buy that camera normally is the snapshot mode where anything is in focus beyond a certain distance (2m or 5m). So no need to focus anything at all. Once you get used to that mode it's just sooo relaxing not to deal with focus anymore. Just make sure your subjects are at the right distance. Kind of a paradigm shift lol.

Much better sensor just because it's bigger number? Seriously? That's an amateur photographer thinking tho. Even though XF10 has 24mpx, but it still bayer CMOS that we can find it on the cheapest Fuji product while X70 is X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the pro Fuji sensor. We need to talk more about that before saying that XF10 has much better sensor.

I was thinking the same thing. That makes both sensors more in competition and makes the x70 “better” looking noise and miore if you peep or crop.

So I now own both of these cameras and I can confirm that the XF10 produces better files than the X70. It's a shame because I wanted to prefer the X70 but they're just too different and offer different compromises. The XF10 sensor offers 33% more resolution and you can really tell when comparing the files. XF10 offers more detail and more room to crop. It also has a much better ISO performance. I never go above 1600 iso with X70 but I don't hesitate to use 6400 iso on XF10. It's also lighter, smaller, cheaper and fits better in my hands thanks to a slightly larger thumb grip. So XF10 is better in almost every way except that it doesn't have a tilting screen and an aperture ring. And this is a big deal... which is why I have both for now. XF70 might also deliver slighty more pleasing jpegs but it's easy to match the results with xf10 if you shoot raw.

I have an XF10. I'm thinking of selling it. The lousy autofocus drives me nuts and sometimes the camera switches to unwanted modes. Nevertheless the quality of the photo's is great.

@@beltransanchez5571 Yes, it helps! But you have to learn to use the autofocus system on the xf10, because it really is your Achilles heel! But once you get used to it, the whole machine is very endearing

Is there any difference in high ISO image quality? I am betting that you can another stop of usable ISO out with the XF10 than the X70 -- 3200 vs 6400. It that true? Thanks. :)

Why compare videos??? No one uses these for video. Instead, may have shown auto-focusing of each(common complaint) and examples of your street photography. Why is one better?

No camera, not even small cameras such as these, should ever be put in a pocket. Never! Carry your camera in an appropriately sized bag - the best alternative. Most complain about the 'fiddly' lens cap on the XF10, a 'no deal feature' for some. Don't hang it on a string. Take it off and place it in your camera bag. 'Problem solved'.
