Great video and you are such an inspirational photographer. I got the Viltrox 56mm 1.4 used and after testing it was really disappointed because while it is a budget lens, video and stills at the wide aperture are unusable which defeats the whole point. The Sigma 56 or the 50 f2 are for me the better options.
I fully agree and relate to your observations. The Viltrox was a big disappointment. Luckily Sigma did not and fuji never does. BTW cool channel, have subbed. Keep posting your content and keep that shutter clicking
Sold my Fuji 56mm 1.2 for the Sigma and have ZERO regrets. I almost felt bad for the buyers as I knew the AF on the f1.2 is SLOW, But they are happy, and so am I. Fuji pricing used to be OK but their constant price hikes are making them less attractive on every APS-C body or lens release.
Thanks for the help. I do own the Viltrox 23mm 1.4 and the fringing is horrible so I thought in the 56mm it could still be a problem. And I got the opportunity to buy a used Sigma 56mm so I guess I'll take it.
The price difference between the 2 is relative in my opinion compared to the latest Fujifilm 56mm I'd argue that both viltrox and sigma provide good value for money at their respective price points.
@@PaulTakesPhotoswell, Viltrox 56mm f1.4 is optically the worst performing lens in their lineup. I would prefer to buy second hand Fuji 50mm f2 for roughly same price as new Voltrox. Even with the slower f2 it is superior in any aspect other than aperture.
Sad to hear. Seems that that line of viltrox has a focus issue. I tried everything on the 56mm to get it to focus better, but it remained inconsistent. Seems with the newer models it is much better
@@PaulTakesPhotos I have an xt4, I do wedding photography, but I only have 18-55 lenses. Lenses are very expensive in Turkey, so I have to buy the cheapest one. There is no such video in Turkish sources, so I am grateful.
@@mustikaplan 18-55 is a great lens. 56mm Sigma would be great addition, a prime always serves a purpose with a fast apperture :) you could try mpb.com is a good and reliable resource for used lenses and cameras. I personally am looking to get the 90mm fujifilm but that is an expensive one.
@@PaulTakesPhotos The Viltrox 86mm is a much more affordable similar lens, you can also look at it. I checked the link you sent, but I think they do not send cargo to Turkey, and due to the wonderful policies implemented by the government, too much tax is charged on foreign products. I was born in the most difficult country to be a photographer 🥲
If it's not as good, it's not as good doesn't matter who makes it. I have the viltrox 13mm and it's excellent, but I'm not tied to any make or model, I like freedom of choice, and for a 56 I'd most definitely go with the Sigma here, this isn't the only review showing how poor the viltrox is. Has to be their weakest offering, the 13, 85 and 33 are all good to excellent.
Very interesting! I am an artist and I share my painting demos and studio visits here. I have worked hard to get good files of my paintings which is tricky. So much great information on RU-vid. Have a great day!
seems like the 56 has the same issues as the 33 that I have. Purple fringing, not so good autofocus and color rendering / histogram... I am not crazy about (comparend to a fuji lens). I think I will try the sigma on this focal lenght.
I don't understand the "no apature ring" issue. Maybe for video? Don't we usually set the apature we want and leave it? In this use case wide open for portrait with loads of bokeh.
I understand your comment. I shoot.wide open normally on flowers etcetera. If I do concert or event I shoot between f2.8 and f5.6 as it usually provides great centre sharpness and still with enough bokeh
Well the Fuji system handling is made so that you can control exposure on actual dials (not front and back finger dials on camera body like on most cameras) and it only comes natural to check and set the aperture on the lens itself and not look for it in the evf or screen. Not a big drawback, but certainly breaks the Fuji standard kind of usage and ergonomics.
@@petarmaksimovic4048 it’s made for both lol. It has the option of top dials and front/rear dials. I disabled my top dials and use only front and rear, as those top dials are not suitable for fast paced shooting
It’s just more intuitive and fluid to have an aperture ring. Thumb controlling Iso on the read dial, index controlling ss on the front dial and left hand under the lens for aperture. Easiest, most tactile fast paced set up for the XT3/4. With no aperture ring, you have have to sacrifice one of the other controls in the dials and replace it with aperture, leaving one forced to change iso/ss in camera or on the top dials, which just takes more time
"F1.6"? "52CM" diameter filter? And a "plastic hood made of POLYESTER" (polyester is a fabric material)? LOL - Get your facts straight before putting out videos that makes other people confused.
