Great tutorial but I personally don'tbreally like the color grading you used for this video.. I can't really see the actualy colour of the prints.. but great job and thanks!
Hi Rob - have you tried copying higher resolution images to the SD card to then be printed through the Evo? I know there's a difference in print quality between images on the device vs those sent via the app. I gave it a shot a couple of ways (including making images the same resolution as one natively shot and adding in a corresponding CSV file the camera seems to create) and haven't had any luck. Just wondering if it was something you toyed with.
Nope, but I just tried it right now. I took a .JPG and placed it on the card without renaming it or creating the .CSV file. It did not work. If you figutr it out, let me know. It's an interesting thought. The only way to do this would be to transfer an image from your phone top the Evo-as-a-printer using the EVO app. Cheers.
Which light would you recommend? Which is better? The one you use seems to be different than the one linked. I don’t need all the color options just looking for a great flash for brighter options. The one linked here seems cheaper and more of an all in one though??? Need help deciding.
I'm glad you found the video helpful. I like the Weeylite S05. It's much brighter than the other light I had been using. For me I prefer more light, so the larger package doesn't bother me. I also get additional colors without the use of gels, and they're the same price. So for me it makes it simple. However any light that you get will be helpful so enjoy!
HI sorry, I am new to this and probably a silly question. For the accessory I see you link Ulanzi RGB Light but I see on the video you got a pink tinged to yours is that like a separate buy or can I have that colour when I buy the RGB. *PS been watching a lot of your videos on these film cameras and love the content you put out very helpful and informative!
The link is the newest and most updated model. The one on my camera is smaller but does not have RGB. I have to use a color filter to get the color that I want. Both are Ulanzi. I think the one I linked in the description is better, but it is biggerz too.
Hi Rob! Great video! Are you familiar with the print error on this camera? I just bought it and so far both times I’ve tried to print it gives me an error and says to turn off the camera. Then when I turn it back on it prints a solid black photo. Is the camera defective or ami doing something wrong?
I have received the print error a couple of times since i got mine. I've had mine since release. It hasn't been an issue for me. It seems to be sometimng wrong with the insertion of the print cartridge. If you have a unit that consistently shows that error and can return it for a new model, do it. If not, return it under Fujifilm's warranty.
Hi Robert! Thanks for the informative video :) I realized whenever I print pictures on the evo, it is too washed out or “bright and blurry” compared to my friend’s mini… i’m starting to regret purchasing the evo cuz the resolution is not sharp :( Is there any settings I could change or anything I can do? (I tried changing the brightness of some pictures and they came out much more whiter)
It sounds like you are talking about taking pictures at night or in lower light situations. Use an external flash (like the lume cube or weelite s05, turn on all lights in the area, and hold the camera very still. All instant cameras need a lot of light. The flash on your friends camera is much brighter than the one on the Evo because the Evo does not have a real flash, it has an LED. Tour for ends camera has a Xeon flash, a real flash. So get an external light and call it good. I use one all the time. Cheers.
Thanks for your reviews, may i ask if I want to attach an external video monitor, would that make it record videos? I don't really know how video monitors work if the camera only takes photos not videos 🙏😊
Hi im planning to buy this camera but i dont like the boarders when u transfer it to your devices. It can be remove or no? Cuz i wanna use this posting in social media.
That's a result of the digital print process. I have it too. It's most noticable on images with a constant color in that area, and images that you have added print brightness such that it lowers the contrast a lot. I notice it, but it doesn't really bother me that much. I have seen that most Evo cameras have it.
Another great Mini Evo tutorial! Thank you. Do you know how to get the Mini Evo to save files to the Micro SD card rather than to the internal memory? I've looked and looked but can't figure it out. I'd like it to save to the memory card so I can remove it and pull the photos up on my computer.
Thanks. Yes. You can copy images from the internal memory to the sd card or from the SD card to the internal memory by going to the playback menu and selecting the copy button on the first playback menu page. There you will be given options to copy images from one to another. The camera should automatically save images to the SD card when inserted. If it doesn't, Reset it by using the reset button. If that does not work. Save all your images to the SD card and then do a factory reset. Good luck.
@@RobertHamm Thank you so much for that information. I got my images copied to the card and put in the computer. Looking at them in full resolution they are actually quite good straight out of the camera. Such a difference from the. little mini prints. Again, thank you for the help and thank you for your excellent videos. Don
im a bit confused. my wall background is a beige color and it's not super dark, my blinds were closed to some degree and kind of open. my background print came out this really odd green yellowish color and i didnt change any features on the camera prior to usage. however, in the view mode, the background was the beige color. how do we prevent this from happening?
Halogen lights are very green. It's a white balance issue. You could set your white balance manually, add more light to the scene, or possible increase the exposure compensation to help. Each of these may result in changes to the overall exposure and look of the captured image because the camera is an automatic camera. You can't really operate it manually which is what you would want to correct for this kind of issue. Cheers.
Wondering if you or anyone else may have experience with this - I want to take photos with the Mini Evo, save to my phone, and then use the Instax Square Link to print - essentially converting from Mini to Square. Do you think this camera has enough resolution to handle the cropping required to stretch the image to the larger format? TIA!
@@RobertHamm I've watched a few - Haven't seen why I couldn't go it. Do you have a specific video in mind? Or could you just tell me your thoughts on it...?
Yes, I have specific reasons. Watch my videos about it. It has to do with the sensor. You can only imagine how many times people have asked this same kind of question. I've answered it a lot. Go for it and see for yourself that I warned you. Document something special with a 1/5" sensor that takes a 5MP image and a file size of 1.5Mb. then you'll see all you need. You need to do more research if you want to do what you peopose. You will not get the result you want. The print will look fine. The digital file will be of no use. See, now you have an answer but I spent several minutes writing it. I do hope it helps, but if you do it, be warned that your digital files will be garbage.
Watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L1xq9YyZeyI.html It points out everything about the sensor, file, and lens that is important for you. I've said from the beginning that your current 2020-22 cell phone will take a better image than the Evo. If you want to cross platform your printing on Instax you should capture the original image at the best possible resolution, file, and lens. For most people considering the EVO, that means their cell phone. I don't expect people to have the kinds of professional cameras that I use for weddings and paid work, but if you want to use one image across multiple Instax printers then you would be better served using your cellphone than the Instax mini Evo. As you will hear in ALL OF MY VIDEOS ABOUT THE EVO, I say it is a Good (not great) Instax camera but it is a BAD digital camera. That's my point. The sensor iss only as good as it has to be to make a good print on an Instax printer. It does a good job at that. Ilit uses the same sensor an camera on a chip system used in the HTC One M7 from over a decade ago. The digital files and print outs even at a 5x6" resolution look muddy, have low detail, and are otherwise not very good. Would you want to take an important picture with a 10 year old cell phone? Say your son's wedding, or a picture of you mother on her 90th birthday? If so, then go for it. I would urge you against it. If the images you will take have no archival valuae, or you understand that the digital files will be substandard for future use over 5x6, then go for it. I use mine all the time, but I never use it when the image I am taking is important. I like the camera, but I am very aware that it is a casual camera. The prints are good. The digital files are not good.
