Two of the things I love mixed up in a video! Amazing. I have the XT-30 and I would really recommend it as well. It is so much more compact and lighter than the XT-3 or -4 while still having the same features. Only downside is that it is not weatherproof. Worth taking a look into.

I know RIGHT!? Backpacking + Photography....I love it! Regarding the XT30, I've heard great things, but I really need that weather sealing where I'm at. Is that your go-to for backpacking and hiking?

I'm currently looking into getting a camera for backpacking, hiking and general traveling, eyeing with the Nikon Z50. Very compact, lightweight, weather sealed, and as you, I have relatively small hands and the grip is pretty deep, and I like the Nikon ergonomics and menus (Have an old D3000). The only downside to compared like to the Fujifilm X-S10 is the I guess is the lack of prime DX lenses amd the lack of IBIS. Thanks for this video!

You might want to put Olympus on your radar as well. Ergonomics are great and the new OM-1 is a beast! Glad you liked it!

I own a X100V BUT bought a Ricoh GR III for hiking, the 28mm equivalent gives me some wider views and the below 300gr with battery is unbeatable if you count grams ;)

I’ve heard that camera is amazing from a lot of people. Do you mind not having a viewfinder?

@@EmoryByLand yes on one hand, no on the other as I’m shaving as much grams as possible and I wanted the best quality sensor in the smaller and lightest possible package. The same with my 450gr Aoka CMP 163L carbon travel tripod… not as tall, not as sturdy but tall enough and sturdy enough… compromises everywhere :) Mind that it is not weather sealed while the X100V is (after adding the filter and ring).

Life is a game of compromises!!! Good for you for getting what works and enjoying it. I for sure want to try that camera out one day.

The Canon G1X iii is one to consider, being a compact zoom camera with an APS-C sensor and flippy screen (shoot at an angle in landscape AND portrait modes). Weather sealed and no need to carry or switch lenses because of the zoom lens. No Fuji colors, of course, which understandably can be a dealbreaker.

Love the flat look of your photos around the 1:49 mark. Did you use a recipe for that? If so, do you mind to share?

The x100v is really tempting me for years now. I really want to document my day to day life more and my huge full frame kit doesn't really works for that 🤣
@EmoryByLand
@EmoryByLand 2 года назад
TRUTH!!! I've tried doing that same thing, but it just doesn't work. Even smaller x-t4 with a 16-55 makes it weird for just documenting life. The x100v is just so perfect for a grab and go camera and it's taken some of my FAVORITE shots of my kids. If I couldn't have an x100v, I'd be getting an xpro model with a f1.4 lens.

not yet travelling but i wandered around the city near me with the x100 og for street photography as im still learning on capturing with a mirrorless, and am waiting for my x-e1 to arrive with a 25mm 1.8f and test them,

I would pick the Fuji xt4( if you like the xpro3 more get it. But it's only prime advantage over the xt4 is weight. But preference matters) If you're trying to keep your setup lightweight then stick with that 18 to 50. If you buy the 16 mm extension tubes with it you can get near macro photography( 1.0 magnification or higher is true macro. With the 16 mm extension tube at 18 mm you can get 0.97 magnification.) You want slightly more range the 16-80 is a great lens. ( with the 11 mm extension tube you can get a 0.74 magnification) The 27 mm F 2.8 lens with the 11 and 16 million extension tubes together also gives you true macro. As well as any of the 18 mm prime lenses or the 16 f2.8 with the 16 mm extension tube. the x100v is a good camera. But I can't do everything I want with it. If I'm going to bring a camera like that that I'm bringing the Ricoh GRIIIX. It's much lighter and much smaller. It's not weather-sealed But it's small enough to fit in any regular pocket. And it's small enough to cover with your hand if it's raining. It has an aps-c sized sensor and great image quality

Personally, I think the Fuji X-S10 is a better choice all around :)
@EmoryByLand
@EmoryByLand 2 года назад
Yeah? I've wanted to try it, but just haven't gotten around to it. What do you like about it?
@durzog3668
@durzog3668 2 года назад
@@EmoryByLand Well, it's lighter, smaller, easier to handle and it uses the same sensor and CPU as X-T4 does. It's also much cheaper. Yes, the X-S10 does have few shortcomings compared to the X-T4, but I think it's well worth it. The only thing that I am not a huge fan of on the X-S10 is battery life. I mean, you can get by, but it's not great. I always have an extra battery with me, so that's taken care of in my case. I also think that AF is a bit faster and more reliable on the X-S10, but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, it's a great camera all around.
@EmoryByLand
@EmoryByLand 2 года назад
The auoto focus on the xT4 is frustrating. I know there are ways to make it better for each lens but that is such a hassle and not at all efficient. I think for some work it works, but if you NEED to get a shot it is not the go to for me
@swagonman

Maybe get an XE3 or 4 or XT30 so you can change lenses? If you like fewer buttons, then XE4. Then get a few small lenses, like 16/2.8 + 35/2, or 23/2 + 50/2. Then some wider 3rd party lens, such as Rokinon 12/2 or Laowa 9/2.8. I have big hands so I prefer xt4 with added grip. I have Fuji 16/2.8, 35/2, Laowa 9/2.8, 65/2.8 macro, and just got TTArtisan 50/1.2. Probably wouldn’t hike with all of these, but I can pick two or three of them. I also have 56/1.2 and 55-200, but I wouldn’t backpack with either of those myself.
@EmoryByLand
@EmoryByLand 2 года назад
I’d be interested in the xe3 but I need them to be weather resistant so most of those other cameras are out of the running. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@EmoryByLand very good point about how few weather resistant bodies there are.
@EmoryByLand
@EmoryByLand 2 года назад
It's a big deal for me in my area and for what I do. I'm also spoiled by the fact that I'm coming from an Olympus system which is known for weather resistance so the herd thins pretty quickly when you start needing your camera to hold up in weather. I had a friend have a Fuji camera completely stop working with just a little drizzle because of it.

No weather sealing is a huge reason not to though. I brought the X100V on the PCT and if it wasn't weather sealed it wouldn't be working today for sure. Just picked up a GRIIIX for every day life though so excited to try out Ricoh.

At this point they’re not worth the price hike, but those prices will drop when the following version comes out.
