It’s a good size for a Fuji. Having played a bit with the xe-4 and the xT5, the settings and results are very similar. The x100 series, brings the ruckus when it comes to form factor and overall enjoyment in your hand. I wish it weren’t hyped/halted in its production. More people should have it, without having to mortgage their homes 💸.
I like it because it is easy to swap out if I need to toss the tag in luggage or change the battery. My dog also has one… I think they came in a two pack.
Couple of comments... First, I would say that the lens hood is a much bigger impediment to putting the camera in your pocket than the hand grip. I have the same hand grip and finds it has really enhanced the enjoyment of carrying the camera. Secondly, I splurged on the Lensmate thumb rest because it hinges away from the camera body to gain access to the controls behind it. Definitely worth the extra cash.
IMHO the soft shutter button is something i actively try to avoid, since it broke the shutter of my X-E4. Fuji themselves repeatedly communicated that the little thread is definitely not made to have a button in it the whole time, as their have been a whole lot of cameras that needed repairs. Take care!
Oh man! I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you had your X-E4 repaired and that it is working for you. That's a great note to keep in mind, and totally worth mentioning. The operation of any piece of gear could become compromised when using/affixing third party accessories. I just touched the soft shutter button on my x100v and imaged what it would be like to see it get caught in my bag and be torn off. I'll make sure to be extra carful with any snags that could tear it from the shutter button and brick my camera. Thanks for being here, the heads up and for sharing your story.
Thanks Justin, I really do like shooting with this camera, the overwhelming hype around it is real for a reason. It's just enjoyable. I appreciate the watch : )
You don’t need an SD card reader if you’ve got a USBc phone. Just a USBc cable from camera to phone is easy enough for imports (and in a pinch, charging the camera from your phone’s battery 👍 )
I’ll bet that the usbc is also quicker than the app. Thanks for adding your thoughts. I’ll have to make a new video in the new year about the updated accessories.
Thanks friend. Settings change depending on the light in the scene. Everything is fluid, the only constant is change, jet fuel steel beams… but not really.
Oh dang, I forgot to add links. It's the Haoge THB-XS thumbrest. They come in black and silver to match both camera versions. I'll add links to the descripition
So I made this video well before the revamp to the Fuji app. It’s so so so much better. I no longer us the phone adapter. Do you want to buy it from me? I’ll give you a great deal on it : )
To anyone watching this, do not use a soft shutter button. It will break your camera. I used an x100v that had this issue the other day. The half-press to focus no longer works, so anytime you even touch the shutter button, it snaps a photo. This is not the way it’s supposed to work and completely ruins the feeling of shooting with this camera. Don’t do it.
@@timmuza No it wasn’t the soft shutter itself that broke, it’s that the use of the soft shutter button actually broke the whole shutter button on the camera. So you can remove the accessory, but the shutter is still broken because of it. Luckily it wasn’t mine. Someone was trying to sell it and I declined because it was extremely sensitive any time you just barely touched the shutter. I ended up finding another one used for a good price, no issues with it.
Thanks 🙏 🎣. My not-so-secret hope is that Fuji releases the x100iv or some successor to this camera. It would be a shame if they let the hype and excitement die if this is the last in the lineup. My other hope is that you find one at a garage sale (I’m Canadian, we call yard sales garage sales) and you pick it up for $1.
I would be honoured! We didn’t name him, he is a rescue from Barbados. They named him at the shelter. Technically his name is Tiny José. It felt weird keeping his initials TJ considering my friend Taylor Jackson has the same.
