Good tip on the photometry settings on that button, I always find myself adjusting the exposure compensation knob and staying on one metering mode but I should really just change it accordingly and stay at a single compensation

Back button focus tip - rather than turning off the autofocus in the menu, just switch it into manual focus on the slider. Then back button focus still works, and you can flip it to Single or Continuous mode if you ever want your shutter button to focus!

@gabedamien
@gabedamien Год назад
Yes, the jump from the X100F to the X100V is a significant one. New sensor (slightly better), new lens (significantly better), weather sealing, tilting screen, touch screen, better evf, faster fps, ISO dial now clicks up until you push it down manually, bluetooth. You do however lose the four-button dial on the back, which some people might not like. But overall it is a good upgrade. I am on an X100T which is even further behind, have an X100V on backorder but wondering if Fuji will announce the X100.6 next spring.

So when you shoot on raw, the film simulations don’t really apply on the files themselves once you get them transferred?
@Souljacker7
@Souljacker7 3 года назад
Curious about that too. If so, what's the point? If it generates the RAW if that simulation applied to it it would be dope
@Ghost_Samurai21
@Ghost_Samurai21 3 года назад
@@Souljacker7 Hey man, I recently found out that the simulations don't apply to the raw files. But what you can do instead is use the color profiles found in lightroom in case that's the software that you use to edit. If you go to profiles and click on the "Camera matching" category you should find all the film simulations there and apply whichever you want to your raw files!
@Souljacker7
@Souljacker7 3 года назад
@@Ghost_Samurai21 oh, nice! LR has it then.
@canyonblue737-8
@canyonblue737-8 Год назад
@@Souljacker7 sort of. the RAW file gets marked with what film simulation you were viewing through the camera at the time you shot the image, then *most* major RAW editors such as Capture One and Lightroom apply the film simulation the file is marked with to the RAW file at the time of import (you can of course undo this and edit the RAW file as you choose.) the only issue, and it is a big one, is the film simulation applied by the editor, lets say Lightroom, is THEIR VERSION of what "Classic Chrome" "Acros" etc. is... it is not exactly the same as what the camera would have applied IN CAMERA. it's close but not perfect, for example the grain simulation in fuji ACROS in camera is a lot nicer than what Lightroom applies as ACROS. basically Lightroom copied the simulations as best they can but if you want *exactly* what you see in camera you have to apply to a .jpg in camera, either at the time of shooting (RAW+JPG or just JPG) or apply it to the RAWs in camera after shooting but before transfer.

Hello Faizal, I have a question regarding the x100v. When I set auto ISO and auto SS the value display for the ISO doesn't show me the correct calculation, it shows me the maximum auto ISO. This doesn't change until the shutter buttom is half pressed. Do you also have this problem?. Do you know if there's a way to see the correct ISO value in real time? Thank you!!
@TylerAldrich
@TylerAldrich 3 года назад
When you half press you are locking in the exposure and the focus. Your camera is evaluating that scene and then showing you what ISO is needed for that exposure. Unless you are in manual mode your camera isn't going to know what to set the ISO to unless you tell it where to focus.

@michaelmontoya
@michaelmontoya Год назад
Sometimes it’s faster to just center what you want in focus, hit back button focus so that your subject is in focus, and recompose your shot however you’d like before hitting the shutter. It can be a pain trying to get the right focus point or dealing with focus points in a hurry so this is a way to bypass trying to choose focus points all together. He also doesn’t use the touch screen and this camera’s joystick is pretty slow to move a focus point.

Sad that people request to see videos related to settings, especially concerning street photography when moments can be so fleeting that you simply don't have the time to fumble about with settings!! Best advice I would personally give is to worry less about the technical aspect of the craft, even if it means setting your cameras on auto (more so with beginners), and worry more - and I mean MUCH MORE - on what's in front of you. You will not become a better street photographer obsessing over settings!
@FaizalWestcott
@FaizalWestcott 3 года назад
Settings are definitely not something to obsess over, I agree, but I think there is still value in understanding how your camera works (especially a digital camera where there's so much you can set and change) so that you're comfortable with it and can confidently use it to do what you want it to do. Some things (like PRE-AF) that are enabled by default can actually be a hinderance to your shooting experience, so hopefully this helps people get closer to their "set then forget" settings on their camera.
@gabrielm7036
@gabrielm7036 3 года назад
@@FaizalWestcott "Hopefully" is a crucial word to use, which you have, but let me tell you something. The majority of people won't. Unfortunately, this is a very sad thing with beginners. Another aspect to digital photography is post processing, and the ridiculous amount of time people spend obsessing over this.
@nicoleparkes6056
@nicoleparkes6056 3 года назад
I think it's great that people want to learn more about the camera they spent a lot of money on. I agree with not spending too much time on settings and focusing on shooting more but why not be in full control of the equipment you use? I don't see the problem in learning more. They don't make these cameras with loads of settings for no reason and everyone is different. Once you've explored the different settings then you can stick to what you like knowing that you have the knowledge of switching it up in the future. That's how I feel anyway, as I said, everyone is different.
@gabrielm7036
@gabrielm7036 3 года назад

@@gabrielm7036 I've been shooting as a hobby on and off since 2016, mainly travel, I've also been playing around with 35mm film photography more recently too which is new for me. I'm self taught so I'm always learning which is why I value videos like this. I actually don't have this specific camera but I like this channel for street photography tips and insights, plus I'm a supporter so there is that, I have my eye on a different camera and I tend to explore reviews on RU-vid quite a bit so as someone who is looking to buy I personally want to know how far my money can go within a camera too if I want to explore different settings in the future, but that's just my way of shopping around 😀
