The sharpness of the 23mm f/1.4 lm wr is unmatched, and I’ve shot for years with 2 different x100 models, the 23mm f/2 (as well as the old 23mm f/1.4, that lens was special though).

My favorite Fuji setup is XT-5 plus the 23mm f2. I don’t care about the lenses not being able to resolve the full 40mp of the sensor. I too have the 18mm 1.4 but it is a little too wide for my taste. The advantage is that I have lots of room to crop with the larger resolution.

The picture quality on the X-T5 is so much better than the X100V, however i love portability and the built in flash and range finder style. I did consider the X-Pro3 but ultimately the new processor and better battery life and new sensor was the reason i got the X-T5 and boy did i make the right choice. A few months later i have a few lens and odd ones that have amazing character and quirkiness that i know i would not be able to get from the X100V. I'm still thinking of getting the new X100R when it comes out in 2024 or a refreshed GR4? If the GR4 comes out weather sealed its a done deal. Loved the video!! keep up the content :)

Interesting to see a comparison between the X100V and the XPRO3

Nice video. Also worth noting that the older 23mm F2 lens can't fully resolve the X-T5 40MP sensor, so zooming in to pixel peep won't show the best results. I have an X-T5 and love it, but am really interested in a new X-Pro for a second camera one day. I hope they keep that line going. I want the hybrid viewfinder and rangefinder style but also the ability to change lenses. The X100 line is great, but being limited to one focal length is a big drawback imho.

You can, you just need to stop down on the aperture

I was looking for this. The 100V shots here look considerably worse than the XT5 ones, surprised no one commented on that yet.

I noticed that too.

I have a Sony NEX-6 with the 16-50 PZ, just because it's pocketable, however I'm now finding that my phone produces sharper photos so the 16-50 PZ is basically redundant. It would be interesting to see how that compares with the X100V. Sure there are sharper Sony lenses but if it won't fit in a coat pocket then I might as well just take my DSLR.

Not sure if you are aware but you can adjust A, S and ISO through the command dials on both cameras, so you can completely avoid the awkward fiddling you mentioned with the x100v … 😊 📷

I think Fuji will update the 18f2 first before those fujicrons

Nice video and fun topic. I open both! FYI lenses actually don't play a role in color reproduction. Mainly just contrast, sharpness, bokeh, CA, etc. Color is derived from sensor, camera profiles, and the raw processor of choice.

I don’t know if I can agree with that because even on the same camera I’m noticing differences in colour with different lenses. Coatings also make a huge difference in colour performance. The way light travels through the lens impacts the final rendition and colour is part of that. Thank you for watching, much appreciated :).

It should be noted that the 23mm f1.4 has much, much worse and uglier lens flare than the 23mm f2. The single thorn in an otherwise flawless rose.

Unbelievable. You make me sit through this video and you only answer that the 1.4 is better. Is the f2 Fujicron still better than the x100 lens? I think THAT is the question everyone wants to know. The f1.4 is better. No shit. It also cost an arm and a leg and is also really heavy. Oh, right, that and don't shoot straight into the sun. Brilliant.

Conclusion was at the end discussing how the 23mm f2 needs an update because the new lens on X100V is quite a lot better now. Come on man, it was pretty clear.
@benfidar
@benfidar 4 месяца назад
It wasn't and still isn't. The 23 f2 may need an update, but it is much better than the x100F lens; the x100V is better than the F, but we already knew that. Is the x100V lens finally better than the f2? We are not told even though that is the title of the video.@creative

@@benfidar Flaring and colours, those are two points I brought up several times when comparing the 23mm f2 against the X100V. I discussed in the video how the X100V performed significantly better than the 23mm f2 when it came to flaring and colour. And it's these reasons that I used to conclude that Fuji needs to update the 23mm f2. All of this was discussed clearly in the video.
@benfidar

So, your conclusion is that the V ever so slightly out preforms the f2 when pointed directly at the sun, and without the simulations only in RAW, the simulations that are the #1 appeal of the Fuji system. All for 5-6 times the price. I think you buried the lede here. Especially given the promise of the title.@@Sondercreative

@@benfidarflaring has nothing to do with file type and profile. What are you on about? It’s an optical property.
