Just a little correction 2:33 the zoom range is 25-100mm 😉. I've got a X70, with a APS-C sensor is a step-up, but the Fuji X70 has a fixed lens and sometimes the lack of zoom is a shame.
oh is it? 25-100mm? Thanks for pointing that out though! It still feels wide. I've been looking everywhere for the x70. :( I might just have to purchase it off ebay and hope for the best.
The XQ-1 has been just great on several trips to Europe and other trips in the States. 12 MP seems small compared to full-size cameras, but the image quality is very nice, nothing to apologize for (especially in B&W mode). The zoom range (yes, equivalent 25-90 or so) is perfect for travel shooting. I have two of these.
Do you have any experience with the canon g9 x? Same dimensions as the XQ1, with a larger sensor but shorter telephoto range. The fuji film simulation modes seem fun to use though.
g9x feels slower when using. not sure why. i THINK you can load your own custom picture profile if u use a canon program on pc/mac. Not a lot of people know that but u can load your own “looks” (basically input ur own lut into the program to input into the camera under user custom 1/2/3) You can just download ur own fuji look into the camera, which is what I used to do. in terms of which i prefer, I’d choose the fujifilm because the “feeling” of taking photos is just better. if u still want a canon then get the g5x mk2 2nd hand. edit: g5x ii over the g7x ii because it has a longer zoom.
@EwanLim that's helpful, thanks! I feel like anything thicker than the XQ1 might be a bit bulky for everyday carry. Too bad companies didn't continue with this ultra slim form factor.
@@drkluscious that is super sad. the only modern 'pocket' camera worth anyone's time right now is the Sony ZV-1 or the last RX100. Everything else like the Fuji X100 is too bulky to be considered a 'compact' camera. I do get almost depressed thinking about it sometimes.
oh.. with a 20mm f2 pancake lens, u can still put it in your pocket but a tad bulky. I have it (it is with a friend actually) and although small, it is not exactly pocketable. It IS small and u can toss it in ur backpack and all. I’ve used it on professional videoshoots as well. In terms of mirrorless cameras, it is the smallest one out there. In comparison to the Fuji x100 ssries, it is definitely smaller. In comparison to the Fuji XQ1, XQ1 is smaller BUT the m200 blows it out of the water for sure in terms of quality. The great thing about the Canon m200 is that you can load up custom color profiles that u’ve done on the computer. So I’ve loaded up a kodak profile into it so that my straight out of camera jpg has that Kodak look. pretty awesome.
Photos: fujifilm xq-1 Videos: iPhone4 onwards. hahahaha iPhone15 is better for videos ARGUABLY, IF you shoot raw on iPhone 15, it is better in bright daylight for photos.
YESSS!!!! I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE FOR IT. edit: for context - I live in Singapore and there are no 2nd hand stores that sell it. Fujifilm Singapore doesn’t hold old stock. And literaly, the closest store that has it is in Japan for USD$1000. Someone on ebay is selling it for $500-ish incld postage.
Fuji should have made the XQ1 with a 1" sensor instead of the 2/3" sensor. Then this camera would be amazing. It is very good but not much better than The compacts from a few years earlier. The f50fd from 2007 had 1/1.6" sensor which is almost identical to a 2/3" by less than half a millimeter in size. The price of the XQ1 is out of control and not worth buying in all honesty.
XQ1 prices sky rocketed man. I think it is due to a fad. I got mine for like $200-$250 or less 2nd hand. if they updated this with a 1" sensor then people will compare this to a rx100 which is a good camera as well. Canon GX5 might be a good pick as well if u fancy loading in your own custom profiles (luts), something NO one mentions but I feel like I'm gatekeeping cause the price is already quite high for this cam.
@@EwanLim i had the XQ1 and the XF1. I paid between 80-150 years ago. The XF1 was better but the lens issue ruined it. But the picture quality was not much better than the old f50fd
I was planning to buy it for my first digicam. Primarily for casual use but also for practice and preparation for when I get a professional camera. I have a few doubts and questions: 1. Is this better than other small digicams that are under 200 dollars? 2. If not, does it atleast have the same quality as other cute compact digicams? 3. Is it worth to buy as a broke student? 4. Should I stick with just my iPhone 11 for taking pictures and videos? 5. The reason why I liked fujifilm cameras more was for their film simulations and the straight out of camera aesthetic. Does the XQ1 offer similar or atleast decent quality that I am looking for? 6. If the XQ1 is not the camera for me, what do you think I should get for my first digicam that I could get for less than 200 dollars as second-hand? My qualifications for a digicam: Atleast 12 MP Compact Can get for $200 or under 10k ph pesos Can input my own film simulations Has great manual controls

Just download any manual camera app and practice with that 5) Yes but it doesn't have the modern Eterna Film Sims 6) Honestly, find a canon camera that can be used with Canon utilities. Canon utilities lets u load or create pf2 files that you can load into your camera. I've done it with my M200 to load agfa and kodak film simulations. The iPhone does have apps that lets u take SOC pictures with film simulations.
since u''re a broke student, that means I can give u advice as a 'Dad'. Find a 2nd or 3rd hand dslr or mirrorless camera for $200. it can be any one camera like the Sony A5100 or Canon d1000. Like a really any old camera with any kit lens for $200. use that to practice because if ur aim is to move on to more professional cameras then u might as well start off right but on a budget. Older cameras will force you to rely on your skill and knowledge to play around with ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed to get the best cameras. The shittier the camera, the better you'll get. To get better, you need to problem-solve your way to the top so just get what you can for $200 that is a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. Skip the compact camera. Once you start going, "f5.6 is great" then u'd know u're already at ur destination. (f4-f11 for product photography. hahaha)

Some things that I may have left out that I should consider: 1. Someone’s offering me the XQ1 for 130 dollars. I was hoping that it would be the camera for me since it was cheaper than most cameras, compact like the vintage old digicams (finepix, cybershot, ixus, etc.) but offers more manual controls. So for me, I saw it as in the middle of the heavy professional cameras and the auto vintage cute digicams. 2. I actually already have a Canon Powershot Sx430 IS but I can’t always bring that everywhere especially when I don’t have a bag or case with me. 3. My parents are considering to buy me the Canon EOS 2000D as a gift next year (?) So I might not take the Canon 1000D What do you think? Take the XQ1 for 130 dollars or the other digicams (Canon M200, Canon D1000, Sony A5100)
nope. totally not possible. U have to manually edit it into the camera. if you want something akin to a lut then you should check out canon cameras, especially the canon m200 since it is compact and u can load in ur own film simulations.
hahaha thanks man. I had a whole section that I took out where i was spoofing 'Rate my c**ks' but realized that maybe it was a bit much for the wholesome viewers. The 'wild' urban chickens were super cute.
