Buy it on Amazon - goo.gl/OZskD (affiliate link). The Fujitsu ScanSnap onboard WiFi allowed scanning wirelessly to Android and iOS devices but not computers. A recent update to the software now allows a single computer to be paired up to the scanner for wireless scanning.
DISCLOSURE: Fujitsu provided me with this scanner to review free of charge.

This is off topic Lon but was wondering where you got the library style shelving unit that is your background on your videos?

"IX500 Scansnap cloud" Are you or have you made a video about the Scansnap cloud? I would like to know your thoughts on this software. 👍🏽

Hello I live in Canada and just acquired the ix500 to be able to scan receipts for tax purposes. sadly I found out that the scansnap receipt software is only able to take and ocr only one tax :( here in Canada we have two taxes GST 5% and PST 8%. If there is a way to have both taxes scan and ocr will love to know how to do it.

I've been trying to get this Scansnap to connect to a network. Wouldn't even allow me to set up a new account through the app in the Apple store; had to do that through a backdoor via browser. This is unusable for Macs it seems. Video would be far more helpful if you'd show how to set things up instead of shoptalk on specs. Thanks tho

Hi Lon - So if I were to use this in a work environment with 2 PC's, I could do that by having one connected via USB and the other connected via Wifi? or does being connected to the PC wirelessly cause any sort of interruption to the USB-connected PC or vice versa? In other words, I'd like to really network this thing, and this is the closest work-around and it is limited to just 2 simultaneous users...correct?

Thank you Lon. We have an office with dozens of these desktop scanners, set-up locally. We are testing one set-up using a WiFi router connection. Question, can we set that scanner to run and complete the file saving task, so that it can then run the next scan, without having to man a user interface on a PC to hit the SAVE BUTTON? So far, with defaults set as they are, I am still having to manually hit the enter button twice to complete and clear the tasks, so scanning can continue. This is a domain environment, but the WiFi is only attached to the domain through the single paired PC that the scanner was set up with. Other than this dependency on a user, the system is working well on WiFi and nearly automated.

These don't do well with that. I've found Brother's scanners to work better as standalone devices to a network share.

Maybe a little little late to the party .... but if this is still an issue To skip the manual Save Button step : Open up ScanSnap Manager, clear the "Use Quick Menu" checkbox, Then in the application tab select "None : (scan to File) (Don't forget to use the Save tab to set the folder location for the saved images ) Press OK to save that setting Now your scans will automatically be saved in the folder without any user intervention on the PC side

Hello Lon, I am looking to purchase this scanner for scanning business receipts. Unfortunately I've found 2 similar models with two different prices. Would you mind shining some light on this subject. PA03656-B305, PA03656-B005 the latter is more expensive.

Ok so that's why I never managed to install mine, tried to do it all via Wifi... Thanks for the video. I think Fuji dropped the ball with this limitation, clearly... Now I need to connect this 500$ thing to a usb port so it can actually work, which would be a nice change of pace (taking dust since 3 months now).

I will never buy their products again! I have three laptops in my office and I can not get them to connect wireless, must use a cable, now it needs a driver change out! Screw Fuji

Very strange that the Android devices can use it without the wireless token handoff, yet the process for switching to PCs is a pain in the ass.

Thanks Lon, trying for hours to set up my new IX500 without success. It looks like all I need is to go to apple and buy a USB adapter since Macbook pro does not have an USB port. Hopefully I will get it working and get a scan completed. A successful scan with take my first impression of the IX500 all the way from one star to 2 star. I would not recommend this scanner for a Mac product.

Hi Lon, thank you for posting this information. However, I am having problem downloading the "ScanSnap Online Update". I downloaded the Online Installation Update to my MAC air and I get the error message "Failed to locate the update target. Reinstall the update and then try again". I've done it several times and still get the same error. Please help....Thank you, Nancy

***** Thank you Lon for your reply! I think you are right, I will need to re-install it, because I installed it via online and not using the actual disk that came with the scanner.

I have one of these and scanning via WiFi is a wast of time because every time I try to use it, the darn thing cannot be seen and you have to go plug it in with USB to setup WiFi. But next time you need it, fail - you have to set it up again. If WiFi worked properly on this unit, it would be the best scanner ever. But it is just another wired scanner - faster than most - but still wired. Look at the feed backs to this video, so many people can't get it to work either and I am an IT administrator. The software is JUNK and needs to be replace by the manufacture. I have owned it for years and the software always looks and fails the same.

high-level marketing content. Says nothing about how to connect wirelessly. You can get the same content from CNET. So not sure what the point of this presentation is except for somebody else to jump on the CNET bandwagon and blah blah blah...

Before making this kind of comment, I think it's your responsibility to at least look more closely at the guy's channel and what he offers. His reviews are well-respected, honest, in-depth, and give a lot practical, real-life examples. He also very actively responds to comments as you can see. I don't get that from CNET
