Log lift: 105 kg! Now they are lifting dumbbells heavier than this!

With momentum though. Its way harder to use momentum with a log.

Real monster that Ahola.. So much smaller than the rest but could outlift them anyway specially in deadlift, amazing.

He's specifically built for the deadlift. He wasn't a great preser, although not bad. And he was pretty good at loading events and races but not the strongest Svend was stronger than ahola

Ya I felt that he was absolutely dominating out there… and when the ref discounted his last lift on the log press, it took away his edge and slid slowly into a second place finish.

What the hell was up with Flemming and the log lift? He bounced it off the floor which should be disallowed, racking up an insane total in a very short amount of time, yet the referee disallowed his last rep which I thought was actually fine?

It was fine, Dougie is was very inconsistent and if you pissed him off or he didn’t like you you’d get screwed over on one or most of the events.

Are those not the smallest "trophies" in recorded history? By contrast, you look at the ones in recent years, they have their own gravitational pull. Big shout out to Bolin Cryce though, WSM hall of famer, no doubt.

Probably one of the strongest finals ever, you basically got the best strongmen ever of 6 different nations: Finland, Denmark (this can be discussed), Sweden, Germany, Norway and Fiji. It is maddness... Oh yeah, and it's always lovely to watch Ahola throwing up at the end.

@@ruffe7655 Exactly but he weighs at least 25 lbs more than Larry Wheels. The strongest guys ever look like Eddie Hall and Don Reindhout. The guys before them looked like Bill Kazmaier. However Kaz came after Don and like Don Kaz was a cert. BA powerlifter as was Jon Pall Sigmarson

Jouko Ahola had that really good technical lifting method and smart decision maker in strength. He is not genetically strong like most athletes on the field (for example like Jon Pal or Bill Kazmaier) but he is a "smart strong" guy who knew to score more point in order to be consistent in the top 3. That is the reason he was consistent to made through to the podium with his only 3 times competing on WSM back in late 90s.
