Anthony Hogan News flash. Whatever racism Naomi faced in her country, is her country's problem. It does not excuse how we mistreat our guests. What you are saying is that it would have been ok that Serena (or someone else) to be insulted in a French Open because the French can always say, Serena has to face racism in US anyway. I hear this kind of shits all the time. Like, well Muslims have it worse in Syria, so we can mistreat them here in US anyway. Really?

Flora, that's the attitude you can't have. Just because you're angry and because Serena is angry, Osaka ends up being caught in the crossfire. I live in Japan. Japanese people are singing her praises right now and talking about how proud they are of her and that she is Japanese. But I know for a fact that if she wasn’t so successful she’d be just another foreigner to them. Even if she lived in Japan her whole life and only spoke Japanese, at most she’d be considered “half”, or just a foreigner to many. I love Japan, but they are very protective of their idea of what a Japanese person is, and just as hypocritical as any other nation.
