I like how after everybody was praising John David at the end, Delroy caught on and took it upon himself to praise the other young'ish actor in the lineup, Steven. Delroy has always been a class-act and this just affirmed it.

Yeah I was so happy to see Steven Yeun getting some recognition at the end there. John David is very talented, but Steven is equally gifted in my opinion. His performance in Burning (2018) was absolutely incredible
@rubytuesday3054

It's cute but a lot of people feeling bad for Steven, not understanding all those guys are complimenting JDW because his dad is Denzel & Ben specifically related to Malcom + Marie (definitely because he's a director who's had a million high profile messy breakups). These conversations are all about who you know, Steven + Gary will most likely be the only one's to secure a best actor oscar nomination of all these guys where John David won't because his movie wasn't received well by critics (even though Malcolm + Marie will end up having a cult following in the upcoming years).
@noriabu6613
@noriabu6613 3 года назад
@@rubytuesday3054 your comment is incredibly shallow and down right evil. It’s the reason why this young man avoided acting for years even tho it was his passion because he knew that some deranged hateful person somewhere would discredit him based on who his father is. No, he was not getting complimented because of his dad but because of his talent and what he does on the screen. He is a great actor who is getting this deserved recognition on his own merits. Don’t you dare discredit him.

Steven kept getting blocked from talking a couple of times, cos he's just so nice and polite to let the others speak. The moderator dropped the ball on this and should have brought the conversation back to Steven to say what's on his mind. I love this need for people to feel bad for Steven & defend him because he wasn't "praised" as much as John David or feel they didn't go to him as much. He wasn't getting blocked from talking, it was just because it was a zoom call which made it awkward to interrupt others as opposed to past roundtables in-person & also because Ben Affleck talked over like everyone. John David actually didn't get many answers to questions either it just didn't seem like it because Ben/Gary kept complimenting him which they rightfully should have for his performance. Steven Yuen is an incredible actor & Minari is the year's best but some people just have more to say than others & zoom makes it awkward to talk over someone.

I loved this, I love this series of long-form conversations. But man, did they shut out Steven Yeun. He tried to speak twice, got interrupted, and they never came back to him while he sat there politely. I'm sure from his point of view he's thrilled to be there, and he showed such graciousness. I would've loved to have heard what he wanted to say!

Glad you guys are still doing these. Get Paul Dano on the next roundtable! I want to hear about his experiences on There Will Be Blood and Prisoners, he was incredible on both films. I also want to hear about his take on The Riddler for The Batman movie coming out next year.

I love stepping away from social media and not hearing all the negativity that people speak about film whether purposely or ignorantly, to listening to people who actually work in films speaking candidly, and being informative.
