I kinda figured it would be, but... Song of the Year for me... AND Music Video of the Year. I know the flashing is a problem for some people, but the two intertwined realities, the way idols are worshipped, the overwhelming nature of Kpop with constant comebacks, debuts, photos, content and drama… I have heard so many people talk about how the firehose of content never slows down or allows them to breathe or catch up, so how do you represent that other than how Digipedi did it? Love it, love it, love it...and can't wait for the tour!

Okay, let's bring everybody up to speed with the lore for those a bit behind! So, in "Birth" the main focus of the story was the girls encountering this goddess made of light (we shall call Artemis for simplicity's sake) and they are effectively reborn and united with her at the end. One of the drawings in the video is the goddess' body being dismembered into five parts, and another drawing is of five babies falling to the ground as shooting stars. The constant reminder of the number five alluding to these being the ARTMS members, basically being born from the remains of this goddess. They began to emulate her by wearing matching dresses and their hair all being dyed blonde (Haseul even mentions the photoshoot concept was that they were the 'five egos' of ARTMS.) And now we see other girls worshipping and emulating the ARTMS members. The divine/religious symbolism, the "egos" and references to "Eden" in the lyrics are painting a very distinct picture. ARTMS have become divine figures, just like how the YYXY members were such in the Eden storyline from way back in predebut (Yves called herself a divine figure during a brief discussion of her lore in a webshow back in 2020.) It's gonna be very interesting to see what they'll do with this going forward, since Eden in the past has always been portrayed as a bad thing, a seeming perfect utopia that actively discourages individuality and self expression, instead pushing the members to conform to their oppressive ideals. "Birth" is obviously SUPER dark, but "Virtual Angel" by contrast seems very bright (maybe even blindingly so) but feels just a bit off if you start to look a little closer.

Someone said something like ‘you can’t look straight at an angel!’ And that really got me thinking - like creepy biblically accurate angels with their million eyes, the million cuts feels that way. Like an incomprehensible kind of intensity
