SUMMARY :
A spine-tingling nightmare reawakened with a new recording & new narrator.
Joanna Rand left the U.S. ten years ago to sing in a Japanese nightclub. Ever since, she’s been haunted by the same horrifying nightmare. Each time she awakens, she feels violated, used, and scared. The only man who can help her is Alex Hunter. Ten years ago, he saw her picture in the papers as a senator’s daughter who’d disappeared. Now he has to bring her memories back to her - memories of a past more terrifying than they dreamed possible...

if you're wondering why this differs in style from DK's usual, this book was written in 1979, under the pennant Leigh Nicols, revised in the 1990's.

I have to admit I'm disappointed to hear you won't be uploading more Dean Koontz books. There doesn't seem to be a great variety of Koontz novels free on youtube. Thank you for the ones you've provided.❤

Even if I hadn’t learned that this is an early in his career book, I believe I would have known it. The story is far from polished, the characters 2 dimensional, and the dialogue elementary. I’ll give him another shot, with a later book. There’s far-fetched, and there’s FAR- FETCHED. This is the latter.

I've Loved Dean Koontz for 25 years or more the scary thing about his stories is there's so much truth wind up in the fiction and ain't that America let everyone looks like them or sort of looks like them become rich all except I wonder who???

I've listened to a few Mr Koontz novels now and they are all the same. Very fruity descriptions of scenery...same story thread under. Some bloke or woman with some handicap (imagined or otherwise) has friends who make them stronger (a dog sometimes) etc against a scientific/government evil. (Not that I don't enjoy such stories but it does wear a bit thin)

He made a huge mistake when writing this. You can’t just go to Japan and open a business. My son lives there, if he weren’t married to a Japanese woman, he wouldn’t be able to stay.

"Shameful" ? What about this novel do you find shameful? I'm 3.5 hours in. I am incredibly curious about your use of such a strong word and amused that you dropped it without defining what so offended you?

Was a bit different to usual Dean Ks books and had not heard of before. While the female lead seemed a bit slow on the uptake a few times, and the hypnotherapist missed a few usual techniques, I still found this a good listen where evil meets good, but it all gets a bit complicated. A few very dark moments. No dog this time. But, hey, it’s free. Can’t really complain.

It’s really all about Alex. Whatever Alex wants, whatever Alex decides, whatever Alex says. That’s what drives the story, and what’s her name is secondary.

@zam55555 That's not fair. Obviously this person is comparing this book to other accomplished writers, whether it be other books written by Koontz or other writers. You don't have to be an accomplished writer yourself to have an opinion about what you like and don't like.
