When I see these old barns and think about the people who constructed them, working hard to fulfill their dreams to run a homestead/farm and support their families, then think about the toll the years take on these old buildings as they sit unused, sagging and decaying - then I see people like you who are literally raising up the heads of these legacies of the past, preserving them and making them useful again. Just moves me so much!

@@mrMacGoover Yea, such a good method it's practiced all over the world, right? Nothing against the Japanese, they make great cars, but thousands of years of civilization and they couldn't come up with a fork? Not all of their ideas are gems. As for toxic, with the Creosote in the posts, the zinc chromate and copper sulphate in the treated wood, and the formaldehyde in the resin holding the plywood together, that ship has sailed. In addition, a nice coat of white paint looks much better than it looking like it's been on fire.

@@sherriestockdale7038 this wood is fragile, half-rotted, and likely caked in moss/lichen and animal shit. It won't really be good for anything- we redid our 40 year old run-in shed a few months ago, and all the wood from the back was just cracking into pieces as we pulled it off, no way it would've held nails or screws. It lasts better in drier climates (like Cali), but anywhere wet or termite-prone, you can kiss the barn wood you pull off goodbye, unless it's less than 20ish years old.

We redid our 40 year old run in shed a few months ago and all the wood was just cracking and coming apart as we pulled it off. Couldn't have put a nail or screw in it and expected it to hold.
