Embiids knee was fucked up & he was dealing with bell's palsy, which is an argument I've heard quite a lot from the Sixers' point of view. The argument he's making is that KAT fouls too much and is not going to be able to handle embiid plus ny lost bench depth, which are both correct takes. Sixers have great depth and Maxey is a certified star. Also, PG had an amazing year with the clippers last season, shooting 41% from deep on 8 attempts, with him on the court they had a +/- of +9 and were a top 10 defense while george was also crucial in closing out games. Without him on the court they had a +/- of -8 and dropped to a 29th defense. I'm a fan of neither team but you're trying to sell this so hard and trying to paint this man in a bad light to the point that it's become corny.

If Mitchell Robinson doesn't get hurt in the playoffs by Joel Embiid, it's possible NY doesn't make this trade. But, all the connections between Towns and NY coaches/management means this was already a consideration.
Great trade for the Knicks. Many reasons. 1. Did we believe the Knicks were going to pay Randle his money? Answer is no. They most likely would be looking for a trade partner to off load Randle at a time the Knicks leverage would be low. Randle is coming off injury, plays worse than KAT in the playoffs, and wants what KAT has( money). Trade him now before his value is low or leaves for nothing. 2. KAT fills a temporary necessity right now at Center. When Robinson comes back KAT slides back to the 4 spot just like in Minnesota. 3. KAT ability to shoot opens up the offense not only for BRUNSON to operate but everybody else. 4. BRUNSON is a 28 year old small guard in his prime. He has 4 yrs of high level ball( Just like KAT) to make things happen. Both contracts take that into consideration. This prob the best window the Knicks are going to have. Oh, everybody has to remember the money is not the same. The cap keeps rising everytime I turn around.

I feel like the trade is more of a win for the Knicks because of the fact that the Knicks are in desperate need for a center, so I think KAT will be a perfect center for the Knicks since Isaiah Hartenstein left and that Mitchell Robinson is out until mid- December (or mid-January) (Nuggets fan btw)

Thunder trading a potential future star pg for Caruso was overstated, too, imo. They should've coughed up a pick or two and gotten somebody who could give them tough defense and shooting, who also can give them big scoring when needed.

Randle wasn't signing an extension with the Knicks and recoving from a surgery. Divincenzo wasn't happy with his minutes and it wasn't going to get better with Bridges there. I actually like this trade for the Knicks a lot. You don't like to see Randle and DiVincenzo go but KAT fits Brunson better offensively. I believe this move will unlock Brunson even more. Also because of the emergence of Brunson as a superstar player it changes their thought process on who to add. Brunson is now a superstar and, Towns is a star player. I also believe Mikal Bridges will return to his all NBA defensive form. OG Anunoby is the key, I don't view him as a 82 game player but if he can play 60 or more games and, be healthy for the playoffs the Knicks will be hard to beat. I also don't think the Knicks are done, they might still add another piece. As presently constructed I like their starting five and, I don't believe their bench is as thin as some people think. Deuce McBride really came on last season in a major way, I am high on Tyler Kolek even though he is a rookie, Precious Achiuwa was really good last season. The key position on the bench will be the 3 and, 5 but I actually like McBride, Kolek and, Achiuwa off the bench. If KAT is bought in I believe they can contend in the EAST
So the Knicks had a chance of winning with no center or stretch big but now that they have both they are less capable of winning? As a Celtics fan, I now see them as legit competition. Before this trade they still had no answer for Porzingis. I’m not sure why we should look at Bucks or Pacers as serious contenders when it’s the 76ers and Knicks that clearly crafted their teams to contend with us.
This is a horrible trade for the Knicks for several reasons: 1. KAT comes up short in the playoffs consistently and commits very stupid fouls in crucial moments 2. Knicks are now over the second apron by $5 million+. They have no flexibility with KAT's extension starting this season. 3. KAT is injury prone. In the first 3 seasons, he used to play all 82 games. In the last 3 seasons, he is averaging 55 games played per season 4. Knicks crippled their bench depth. They have no one that can shoulder the load when the starters are resting. McBride is not the answer Minnesota easily won this trade. Wolves fans, the 2 years experiment with Gobert and KAT has hit its peak. This was inevitable. In the long run, it is for the best. Edwards will help recruit high profile names in the offseason when Randle exercises his player option to opt out of his contract.
The knicks have the 3rd best big and 2nd best center in the eastern conference in KAT before even plays a minute for them. When he does play, he will be in a weaker conference, at his natural position, in a perfect fit scenario. He and the Knicks will be great. Top 5 offense, top 10 defense
This was a LINEAR move. The good news is this move doesn’t make the knicks worse. The bad news is it may not make them that much better but that might be the difference maker in making it to the finals.

OG was a tremendous overpay but it balances out with the Brunson discount. Every major position has improved or stayed the same when fully healthy. KAT will move to PF when Mitchell comes back and this will be the best starting lineup this decade. The bench is a little weak now without Dante but McBride and Donte are identical players
Superstar players have to want to come there, they can't control that. Brunson probably came because of his dad and to become the number 1 guard. KAT has a beta personality he will fall in line better than Randle probably would've.

This is a great trade for NY cuz NY is Brunson's team. So the top 8 players, e.g. Luka, Giannis, are out of option. The best players available to be swapped for Randle that can complement (and maximize) Brunson's game were either KAT or Jaren Jackson Jr. We got KAT.
Its amazing people don't realize the Knicks are not trying to bet on one or two guys to carry them to a title. They are trying to build a balanced team where everyone can do their part. The Knicks in their history have made bet after bet on a big name and its hasn't been working. Then they went after Brunson, gave Hartenstein a platform, elevated Josh Hart, and saw massive success. Its totally in line with their strategy to bet on replacing Donte/Randle with the better Mikel/Kat. They improved for sure, do they have one less player (that was going to be angry on the bench anyhow) in depth, sure. But that's the only loss
