Not everyone lives in rural areas and want to play in the mud all of the time and I've always wondered why people don't do this. This is a great daily driver in urban or suburban environments. Now, I wouldn't be rally racing it.

I'm a sucker for an obs. First truck my father and I did a complete nut & bolt rebuild on. Swear i can fix anything on it blindfolded in the dark if i had to. Hands down one of my favorite builds ever and i'm counting all the way back to TNN, Spike & Stacy David days.

I’m a Ford guy since I was a hid, but this build I love and it make me want to look into finding a F150 92-96 4x4 and see about doing a similar build like you performed on this Chevy Short box 4x4. I love the show and the ideas and tips are endless. Thanks Power Nation

Just bought an ‘05 4WD Regular cab with rear locker option for $500. It’s the perfect mule to do this conversion. And I am currently awaiting the arrival of the NV149 T-case.

I did that on my 20's but I swapped the 350 for a Mexican 400ss engine. TransGo the transmission. Upgraded the servo piston for a corvette piston. And had it rolling on 245/50r15 bfgoodrich radial T/A Fire on the hands. Plates from JALISCO MEXICO.

Love this series. Something I always wanted to do but could not find to do for an AWD set up. Now definitely going to have to get started :)

First vehicle I learned how to drive. Dad had an 88 Silverado/92 GMC Sierra hybrid. Had it for years. I later bought a 94 Sierra. Sold that to dad when his motor quit. Half a million kms and the oil pump quit. Love to find a nice one again. Make a nice lowered sport truck.

I’ve been gathering parts for a build very much like this for a few years. I’m using an AWD transfer case from a 2005 Silverado SS with a modified 32 spline input shaft to run behind a 4L80 and 408 c.d.i. stroked 6.0 liter iron block LS motor. Still looking at different donor trucks, but the 1/2 ton 88-98’s are definitely prime candidates.

With the exchange rate in Canada, this AWD swap would cost 5 million dollars.

I watch this build and even though it turned out pretty cool it hurt to watch them take this classic 4x4 and make it into a street truck when they could have done the same thing with a two-wheel drive version

@53:30 this may be a sick build, but thats no excuse for tightening those case bolts without any "stress-reducing distribution pattern"/star-pattern.

This build is awesome but with a D1 LT1 or LT4 with an 8 or 10 speed auto would kick ass. I'm glad to see them doing better builds that don't seem to be built to the sponsors spec as bad anymore.

At the risk of being nit-picky, I noticed the open AC lines while pressure washing. It's a good idea to wrap them in a plastic bag and tape up as soon as it's disconnected from the AC pump. At least do something before pressure washing. Water in an AC system is "no buena". You will kick yourself later if you don't.

Lol I've got a clean 98 Sierra that's getting the exact treatment but streetcstrip focused. Turbo LM7 5.3 lowered and on drag radials all around

Love this truck....AWD is the way to go. This would be my dream truck. Fantastic boat hauler also.....no wait....where's the trailer hitch?

I also think building exhaust is the funnest part of a build. People look at me wierd but I'm not talking about replacing the Y pipe on a rusty Ford mod motor... I think one place that money is best spent is copper gaskets! Totally reduces chances of leaks. Years ago back in the late 90s I tossed pair of cheap headers on an old sbc and there was a broken stud well chances of a header with broken stud not leaking is usally zero but I used mr gasket copper header gaskets and it ticked like you would imagine but as it warmed up it gradually faded away to nothing and never leaked again! I also reused em several times. The guy at parts store was like these are like $35 you sure you want em and I said absolutely, by time I replace cheapies few times I'm saving money and headache in long run, exhaust leaks suck! best $35 ever spent!

Finally! Someone else who puts the fasteners in the holes they came out of. Much easier to keep track of everything and you dont just have a can of bolts. My old boss always used to yell at me for doing it

So there's an older Trucks episode where they slammed a 2wd C1500 but they skipped right over all of the stuff that people would want to know what to do and how to do it! So this is pretty good info on what to do here. At least much more detailed in that aspect. But I'm not a big fan of slamming a 4x4, but on a 2x4 I love it.

Nice build and the lowered one really has a good stance with those wheels. Viewing the entire project sequence was outstanding - LT you really did some high quality work throughout this build. Well done!! It is a truck I could own and have fun as a daily driver for a long long time. BTw, I cringed to see power washing with the open AC tubes there underhood. I guess it worked out. eeek. Is there no concern that the tube volume, lengths from port to X connection are not even on the exhaust? This generation of truck is so much better designed than my 1977!! Attention to corrosion protection and sealing from the elements. 290k miles now and needing a refresh again. ZZ4 running strong.

I especially liked the black paint overspray on the shocks! Nice custom touch! The exhaust pipe near the trans pan to couple heat into the transmission fluid is another nice bonus!

That was some buget build every kid working at mcdonalds will be driving b thease so "Afordable" probly only have 20grand into it

Awesome. Only next time find a standard transmission. I also would have liked to see the original 350 engine rebuilt and beefed up.

Ive got a 91 GMC Sonoma SLX 4x4 truck for sale. It's got a 5 speed transmission and I don't have the money to get it going again. The body ain't bad and the frame is solid. It's a project truck and I'd love to know if anybody might be interested in it. I'm asking 1800 for it but it's obo as well. I wanted it because it's a square body. It needs engine and pretty much everything under the hood

So I have thought of this sort of thing. Wanting to take my 02 Escalade and put a two Dr. pre2000 Tahoe body on. To give a phantom 2dr 2wd Tahoe however my Escalade is awd so I would have 2dr awd Tahoe.

Were those downhand welds on the frame reinforcements, asks the journeyman fabricator?

Great video I did the same thing to my 02’ Silverado. But I also added a flex fuel system and a D1X Procharger, and the thing is an absolute beast!

I like the look of the quad tips but if you use it as a truck and want to haul a trailer how do you put a hitch on it with the tips in the way.

Your project started within my means, you quickly ran off and left me in the dust before you even swapped the motors! It's a really neat build, but not feasible, not practical, not REAL WORLD! Do you honestly believe that it will bring what you and your sponsors have poured into it? I doubt it! Definitely one of the shiniest turds I've ever seen!

I would really like to do that type of build on a 2 door Blazer 2nd Gen 2000 style, Are there AWD parts that can fit into the S10 platform? Great show watched it completely and want to do it to a S10 Blazer. I have a 2014 Corvette Z51 with 8,000 miles i am afraid to drive. I need a 4 wheel Drive Corvette I can drive every day. This was a great video but I don't understand how you don't want to rebuild the engine because it's not cost effective saying 5 thousand is a lot of money then go and spend like 20 grand building out the rest of the truck. Anyway, you guys did a great job with the truck. Keep it up.
