Love you guys. As a Belgian been living in asia (now in Singapore) , I'm really in awe how you guys embrace the culture. Vietnam is one of my favourite places. Keep up the good work.
The way pythons are raised in Vietnam can make a difference in meat quality. and most meat in Vietnam is very fresh. Cattle are slaughtered at 5am and brought to market at 7am. Vietnamese people rarely use frozen meat because they think it is not good for their health.
The fact that you ate way better than me for way cheaper is just insane. I'm a Vietnamese living in Saigon but honestly, you are living the better life man. Subscribed.
you just gotta know places. also a foreigner living in Vietnam but I’m more into veganism and fruits. i know a spot with huge pink ripe mangoes. and it’s 5-7k per kg, depending on the day. they aren’t always available, but that shop still has amazing ripe xoài for under 12k. i get spinach for 15k/kg. bach hoa xanh is also ridiculously cheap sometimes, recently got 5 cobs of bắp ngọt for 15k in total. however I’ve noticed that their discount policy on vegetables and fruits changed. it used to be 50%, in the evening now it’s just 40%, never more, and I’ve been to multiple stores in different districts for the past few months.
As a Vietnamese, I'm surprised you found a place that sells bánh canh for just 10k, you must be really good at finding the best deals out there! A small portion (tô nhỏ) I'd usually see is still around 50-75% of the full price, so probably around 20-25k at least.
Now this is the kind of South East Asian videos I enjoy seeing. Not the constant insta youtube videos from other tourist who don't even give to craps about the country, those videos are crap to watch it's always the same from most of the travel videos from those other youtuber nothing authentic about it. We want in depth like this video and you actually speaking the language or trying to speak it makes these videos priceless. Love it Max keep up the good work. For those other youtubers you need to watch Max McFarlin and learn how to do a travel video and just be authentic and not fake. Most viewers can feel it when it's not genuine.
Watching your videos always reminds me of what Anthony Bourdain said, real food is in the streets! When you described that bowl of noodle soup, you directly proved that that sentence is a golden saying in the food world! That shrimp is dried shelled shrimp. Dried shelled shrimp is used as seasoning in Asia! To digress, our country has stopped using Styrofoam food containers for more than 20 years! Because once it is heated, it will inevitably release toxicity, and it will cause harm to nature after being discarded. Max can suggest that they use ceramic tableware as much as possible! Thanks a lot for sharing, really great job! 👍😍👏
Anthony Bourdain was a legend yes , but the dude would say just about anything for a buck and to wow tv audiences, same with this guy on youtube . Asian Street food is cheap for a reason , ok there are some gems of food out there yes for sure but come on now lets face it, the novelty of it would wear off after a while ,nice to try it , but give me a steak , fresh vegtables and good sauce and potatoes any day of the week because guess what i aint an asian im European , so i will stick with the food that i was brought up on. 😊😅
@@kevod09 You like your food, fine, but no one cares! The fact is that the novelty doesn’t wear off after a while, this RU-vidr lured you hacker to watch the video, he succeeded!
Vietnam is a low-middle income country so it is very difficult to change immediately. You know for street food vendors, buying expensive porcelain sets is a huge expense. The government also pays great attention to environmental issues by developing the largest wind and solar power plants in the region. But to change people's perception, it takes time.
@@kevod09One of the reason Vietnamese street food cheap is because of competition. You know the dish Gordon Ramsay use as a challenge in Hell Kitchen after he visit Vietnam? I am pretty sure most people who selling it can make it at the similar level. It not like you can actually have a special recipe and sell your food forever in Vietnam. If you have a lot of customer, next week there would be 5 new food stands sell the exact same thing 🤣
Bro, my first language is vietnamese. I grew up in Chicago and my cousins grew up in Oklahoma. They have a southern accent but your vietnamese is so spot on with theirs! Loving it bro! Keep up the great work
Mr.Max, I am a fan of your RU-vid. I'm from Việt Nam. I'm a student, thanks to your vlog, I can practice my English listening skills, and I feel proud of my country, I don't see happy and appreciate about simple food if I don't know your vlog. I'm extremely happy when I saw you in the Vietnam's news yesterday. Hope you enjoy diverse and delicious food in our country. Love you so much❤❤
Yo one thing I hate is people cutting in line. But speaking candidly, you are truly emerging in the culture to let people cut and the sister/auntie don’t want to charge. That’s speaking volume of Maximilian… aura and humble gratitude attitude. I think the Buddhism got to you bro.😜👊🙏🤗😋

Love the videos. Where can I get the Saigonese t-shirt from? I'll be in Saigon next month and I would very much like to buy one or two to bring back. Keep the videos coming bud
my wife and I watch and love all your videos ever since you first started youtube and the first time you came into my parents banh mi shop in portland and my wife asked you want you were doing and you told her you were doing youtube videos and now you are in Vietnam .
thật sự có những quán ăn rất rẻ ở VN, có thể gọi là "vừa bán vừa cho". Bạn rất hay khi biết được những quán ăn thế này, bản thân tôi còn không tìm được :D
Bro mad props, you’ve immersed yourself in the culture and so far it seems like there isn’t anything that you haven’t been open minded to in Vietnam. Respect… I’m born and raised in the states but with all of the politics and division, I might be looking for a simpler life elsewhere.
you bought banh mi near my home, hope to c u one day and i can invite u some special cheap food in that area. Good luck and thanks for sharing out country culture to the world. Respect❤
Thanks Max for showcasing the various types of amazing Vietnamese foods. I echo what you say about Vietnamese making the best broth. I can't wait to visit Vietnam at the end of May. You are Phúc Mập are my favorite vlogger and I always look forward to your videos. Happy New Year!
Hey Max, I can so it’s not too far from Texas. That’s where I’m at. It is getting so crowded here in Austin right now. Prices of water are gone up houses apartments. They are growing like mushrooms after the rain in a hot humid day.
Is it amazing how you were able to find all these places to eat so cheaply in Saigon? Congratulations to you for your perfect pronunciation of South Vietnamese with such a correct accent. Often your compatriots speak a northern accent which is undoubtedly easier to learn. Good luck in Saigon.
In Southern Vietnam, especially SG, there are still many families of Republic of Vietnam origin living there since before 1975! They still remain civilized and friendly and they always help other poor people, which is why such cheap restaurants still exist! And they also do honest business, so the food they use is often cleaner and safer than in the North and Hanoi! In Hanoi, our food is very expensive and a lot of food is often smuggled from China, as well as impoverished people having to soak spoiled food with chemicals to compete with super cheap smuggled goods from China! That's one of the reasons you can see a lot of Northerners moving to the South but it's extremely rare for Southerners to move to the North! There are also many other reasons caused by the communist gang's ruling policy!
Another great video, Max. What the heck are you using to film yourself on the motorbike? Are you actually one-handing it with a selfie stick (or gimbal) in the other hand? My man! (I can't ever open those damn plastic bags, either.)
Hello Max, long time no see 😊you are so funny … sense of humor! For courtesy I advise that next time if the seller invites you, you should say: "cô nên nhận tiền đi, nếu không con ngại lắm lần sau không dám đến nữa" so that they feel more comfortable inviting you eat. Sounds like you really enjoy Vietnamese foods, watch out your health Vietnamese foods have a lot of MSG.
I am glad you enjoyed the cheap food Max. I was born in Vietnam and I was sick a lot as a kid mostly due to eating cheap street food lol so I think it depends on the individual person health conditions 😂
I have to mention about eating takeaways in Vietnam is that you should bring any container that could endure heat for soup-like dishes, else they'd use a cheap plastic bag in most cases and this is definitely not safe. I use a steel so I gotta avoid acidic foods.
Very cool a lot of people don't get why it cheap they always look at the exchange but that don't work because it's what people get paid there they don't make 30$ hr US if they raise there price to the price of USA for food the people there would not be able to eat. Remember this when your thinking it's cheap it might be cheaper for you but them it's not. Also why food is getting so expensive in the USA and Canada is because they are not growing as much as they use to they are relying on other countries to bring in their food. Which is why people should not get so upset when the USA protects another country all NATO and friendly countries work together to keep everyone fed and clothed. It cost a lot to have food shipped across the globe and now they have to protect those ships that cost even more money. So when you think about it the larger scale it's not that cheap. USA and Canada is more expensive because they rely on other countries now for food.
7,000 VND/ bread is my company's favorite. I often buy 10 pâté sandwiches/time for everyone to snack on. Opposite Co Diep bread is a delicious but cheap Quang noodle restaurant, only 35,000 VND/bowl but served like a restaurant. Max, please try it.
Hello Max. Your video is interesting. Have you ever come to Nha Trang, the beach city in Viet Nam. If you come, please try "bánh canh chả cá", "nem nướng" and other seafood. Have nice time in Viet Nam.
Hi Max, you’ve been staying in Vietnam for so long. How do you extend your visa? I am not sure if you have a clipped of how to stay in Vietnam for so long the paperwork for visa and the cost of the apartments. Can you please do a clip of that and if you already did, can you pleasereply to this comment with that clip thank you in advance from Austin Texas

Is there any recommendations for top 5 which restaurant and places must try. Doesn't have to be d1 only. Thank you all
