This took me quite some time to do for 2 reasons: 1. I'm not a nutritionist and I wasn't sure I wanted to give diet advice. But eventually I came to the conclusion that just like sharing what's worked for me with training my body, I can share what I eat all the same. I'm not telling you to eat like me, only sharing what i do. I know vegans will be upset I eat meat, I know paleo people will be upset I eat grains, I know IIFYM people will be upset I don't track macros. I don't hold any belief too close when it comes to nutrition and I'm open to many things. 2. It's been a hurdle getting myself to do a "vlog" type video. It's a bit embarrassing honestly, haha. But at the end of the day, I enjoyed making it. If you like it, let me know and maybe I'll do more.

I think diets get overhyped. I've been able to lose about the same weight as I did on diets like keto just cutting out fried foods and processed sugar.

Your openness is admirable. I want to urge you to consider trying plant-based for a while. The issues vegans have with the average human diet are known and obvious: animals are mistreated and killed in order for humans to be able to eat them; the environment is suffering because of vast land use for livestock and livestock feed; oceans are being overfished, and most ocean plastic is from fishing ships (nets etc). Most of us do care about these things, but aren't necessarily aware how bad they are; and we're often not willing to take the perceived risk to our health in going vegan, having been told our whole lives - by our parents, teachers, television, doctors, the government, etc - that we need meat for protein or milk for calcium or whatever it is. What's not so well known is how well many vegan athletes are doing. This is what I want to get across: to show you a few examples, so you can see that it's possible not only to be strong and healthy on plants, but that it's often much more satisfying. Check out: Physique: Brian Turner, on RU-vid Simnett Nutrition, on RU-vid @fitkhing on Instagram Nimai Delgado (vegetarian since birth; vegan many years) Strength (weights & bodyweight): Patrik Baboumian (world record holding strongman) Kendrick Farris (US Olympic weightlifter) Clarence Kennedy (Clarence0 on YT, or @clarencekennedy_ on IG) Frank Medrano The 2 top rock climbers in the world, Adam Ondra and Alex Honnold, are both vegetarian Other (runners etc): Dotsie Bausch Morgan Mitchell Tia Blanco Scott Jurek and many more. Just search something like #vegancalisthenics or #veganweightlifting on Instagram and you'll find a wealth of examples. Peace.

You make it out that you take an aw shucks ad hoc approach to diet, but in fact it is a state of the art protocol that combines intermittent fasting with carb backloading which contributes to effective cutting while promoting gains. And focusing on whole foods, high quality grass fed meat, and avoiding industrial seed oils. Well done! Livestrong!

Refreshing to see a fitness channel that doesn't claim to have all the answers.. Dude does what works for him and he lets the physique and performance dictate the regimen. IMO that's more like what it should be. It's great to have goals.. but people got to understand the specificity involved with reaching that goal. Differs greatly person to person. It's important to remember the fundamental purpose for training...but also important to do it in a way that keeps your humanity in tact. Your channel is great at doing that, man. Thanks

Great video, nonchalant about my food also love it. Heart attack 9 years ago, triple by pass, stroked out 3 years ago, they gave me 6 different pharma meds and said you're never going to get off them, I quit them all after they told me that, 3 years ago, never felt better in my life after stopping them. Walk 2/3 miles per day. And you guys have started me doing something I sort of stopped doing 13 yrs ago, living fully at 73 yrs old now, may much happiness and success find you both, I'll spread your good works! I have lemon water while I make my coffee to drink on the way to the gym although since I found your channel, I can workout at home. I like my first meal to be a salad smoothie because I can throw tons of stuff in it and not chew. I cheat too but I never bring it home because I WILL eat it and sugar is a slippery slope for me. Weight gain/loss is never a concern. I stopped eating meat/dairy to limit the amount of junk fast food I was consuming... I couldn't drive past Wendy's without getting 2 chicken sandwich meals... We eat about the same way almost to a T. Just buy local organic vegebables. Some grains which I overeat a lot. And pastured meat. Well paleo and iffym are just concept of regarding dieting, veganism is ethical belief system where diet is just one component. My point is that vegans look at this completely differently so when you say they are too strict you are not taking into consideration that for vegans this is not just merely diet preferance. Not trying to be disrespectful towards you.

Dude, maybe try chopping off the ends of the onion first, then cutting it in half - and once you get that peel off - put the flat side down on the cutting board - it can't move around then - it's safer and easier.

Important question! I did intermittent fasting for about 3 months and I noticed I did get leaner but it definitely didn’t help me with my training at all. I made sure I was consuming the right amount of calories and everything, however, I felt super tired throughout the day and lacked the sufficient energy I needed to train properly and get school work done. I was just wondering if you have run into the same problem or similar problems and what you did to overcome them and make you feel energized and motivated.

Owen Jaynes you need more carbs than might want try eating twice after fasting and eat a bunch of your carbs as the last meal so you won’t get that drag feeling worked for me and I athletic trained hard as hell

Love the way you explain it man. So many people and even I have been neurotic about nutrition and food and fasting and keto and has caused major anxiety in me. It gets to the point like you mentioned you just want to feel good and happy.

I've been tracking macros and tracking energy expenditure with an apple watch religiously for years. Every workout, walk is timed. Every meal is planned and timed perfectly. However it has made me a slave to numbers and looking at exercise as a way to eat more food. Recently I decided to put the scale to the side and stop tracking exercise. I have just been eating whole foods consisting of meat, grains, starches, fruits, greens, healthy fats and no sugar. If I crave something sweet, I'll buy some all natural high quality ice cream or dark chocolate. No more binging on grocery store cakes after restricting calories for 3 months. I still feel a bit out of control not knowing how many calories I'm putting into my body. I try to eat intuitivelyI sitting for each meal, breathing, taking a bite, then breathing agin. Slowly eating each meal has helped me connect with my body's internal cues and not the numbers on my phone. I'm not against counting macros, because it has helped me understand how to portion foods better and in turn cut body fat. I just wish I had started to move away from it sooner.

Thanks for sharing that man. It took me about a year to stop wanting to know the calories in everything i ate. By now I feel like it was another lifetime ago and I'm so happy to be out of it. I go back and forth with my thoughts on if it's good for people to do it for awhile. Yes it's great to have an idea of how much is going in your body and surplus/deficit.A lot of people probably don't realize how much they consume. But I'm not convinced it's the only way to develop your body. I think prioritizing training and eating more vegetables will probably do most people just fine.

In agreement with both of these comments. I'd love to track my progress (and have on and off for years) but what starts as wanting to genuinely support my body soon becomes a numbers obsession. Especially as the results start rolling in. For now, just hitting the yoga mat most mornings with classes a few times a week helps me fall back in love with not just my body itself, but exploring its capabilities that way it MOVES. My food then just comes in to support that. Can't wait to start adding in some primal movements I saw in another of these vids and deepening that relationship further.

Man I have a hard time letting go of proteinshakes and counting calories.I have so many questions lol. what about pre or post workout meals? when do you eat??? just when hungry ? keeping track of nothing? its seems awesome to be able to just go with the flow. but what about gains and shit...? How do you know that you dont overeat by like thousands of calories lol. And all of those cravings.. how does one manage. lol awesome vibe and body

Yeah! The best form of no-fuss eating. One pan, lots of vege carbs and some meat protein. I’m nearly 70 and I have eaten this way for ever, and it’s fuels me for big bike rides, runs , swims and surfing when I can get out.
