It's the same effect. _"Chicago or Toronto views we never see below a certain level"_ possibly so but the fact remains is the level CHANGES with weather conditions. You can't see the whole town because there always will be atmospheric moisture and the further away the object the more moisture between the object and the observer. The above video was taken relatively close so at low moisture levels you could see all of the buildings.
This does explain it... But the blind can't open their eyes, their fate is a ditch. It doesn't matter how much real science we put forth they are in love with the lie, the spinning ball.

The tidal range is around 13 ~ 15 feet and over the short distances involved that is some serious effect. Also, in the Chicago situation only the upper parts of the buildings are ever visible and the shoreline never. Doesn't that ring an alarm bell?
Wong - How does tides explain entire buildings being engulfed as shown in this video? In the Chicago situation the distance is significantly more than is the case with this video and and the lensing effect of the atmosphere means you won't see the shoreline. Also if you look at pictures/video taken with different weather conditions you will see the amount of building covered actually varies...just like in this video.
This is the best way to visualize how a superior mirage is possible. So basically, it is the same principles, in a minor scale, when there's winter and you have the heater on, and you open the window and you see how everything shakes, such as a skyline, or the stars.
Yea proving that refraction actually hinders our vision not brings up a full moon during the day and bring up objects at where they should as if it were a flat earth. And yes we do live on a flat plane.

THERE'S NO MAGNIFICATION. Au contraire, the montains seems SMALLER. The lake level RISES as the sun passes by. Perspective creates a "ramp" of water as the tides (plural) come in.
You mean prove that the earth is a globe or did you not notice how a mountain in the back seemed to grow and shrink in size? Or how the city across the bay at one point looked flooded and then higher than sea level....
Wrong , it demonstrates atmospheric interference over a flat surface . Objects obscured by curvature will stay obscured , no matter mirage effects nor telephoto lens . The water , city and mountain in the background dance around but no curvature is demonstrated . In fact it shows ( the city looking flooded) how people can wrongly assume that they are witnessing curvature .
+DethFiesta BTW the Chicago skyline from Michigan is not a mirage . Check out Rob Skiba's debunking of it , he took a boat and filmed it from 48 miles out to 8 miles and back again . So....show me an example

Are you kidding?? It is actually the other way around. I was on your side for more than 40 years. I saw nothing! I think you owe me an explanation for all my wasted years. I only trusted the same sources you did. I had questions. All unanswered. Now my questions are being answered with science. Yes, science! Not scientism. The NASA religion is sick. It took me a while to understand and accept it. The only reason you believe in the ball is because of what you were told and taught in classrooms. This was then reinforced with Television, magazines, newspapers, movies, etc.. over many years. You will deny it. Dishonest! You have seen absolutely no proof or evidence, only propaganda. So after years of seeing nothing out airplane windows (still trusting that my senses were wrong), I am now seeing why. This is a sick, perverted lie. Now, finally, the technology is there for average people to challenge the lie. You should rejoice. Eventually, you will see. For some people it takes more time. So for you to say that there is no evidence means that you are completely oblivious, blind, and/or simply lying to yourself. Pay attention. That is all it takes. Stop defending nonsense. And actually, the burden is on you. The globe should be real easy, right? I mean that is just "truth", so show it. A curve is very, very easy. How hard could it be? And another thing: The Earth is not "flat", it is "dynamic". There is a difference. You have mountains and ocean depths. That is hardly flat. I hate that term. BUT, it is NOT a ball and it is NOT moving. I think that is the point. So check your senses and be honest. That is all it takes.
Excuse my english, but I don't know if the Earth is banana shape or what shape. I kow it's not flat, because I have relatives in Australia (I'm in Finland), and when I ask which direction stars are rotating in relation to the observer, they rotate different direction. It means that tere is 'the other side'. FE people say that Australians don't live under the flat earth, so how can this be explaned. Surprisingly(?) I have never seen this answered.
