I couldn't pass up the opportunity to film working on this tidy Commodore SS Sportwagon. These cars have held their value ridiculously well since Holden stopped making them in 2017, with V8 'SS' models still listing for close to their original purchase price 5 years later. It was great to take care of this one in preparation for a new owner.
The SS Sportwagon has cemented a place on my bucket list, especially since Holden shut down in 2021. They're big, heavy boats with over 300kW (415HP) going straight to the back wheels through skinny tyres, making them a controllable handful. Well built, reliable and practical, they've been an Australian favourite for decades, and I hope I can get my hands on one before the pricing goes through the roof. This VF Series II is the last edition produced, but it shares a platform with the previous-generation VE Commodore released back in 2006, meaning there's no shortage of them on the market and it gives me hope that prices won't go through the roof anytime soon.
