I was watching Disney Afternoon as a 90s kid in Sweden every Saturday afternoon, every kid here was looking forward to this every week. my top 5s Gummi Bears DuckTales Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers Talespin Darkwing Ducks But they were all great.
Wow!!! I can't believe that it's been 25 years of Disney Afternoon. I like the voice actors from those cartoons like Goof Troop and Duckwing Duck (AWESOME lol ^_^).
Gusto is my fav gummy and my first introduction to Robs voice. It will be dear to me for that reason. Gusto was such a fun character and Rob defined him. (Btw awesome trivia on Art Deco but Brian Cummings did the Arte we knew for the rest of his appearances)
"Who was that? Probably Frank?" It's a good guess that any random 90s cartoon voice would be Frank Welker... poor Brian though, seems like he's always getting overshadowed by more famous VAs. ^^' (I'd rec listening to an interview with Brian if you can catch one, he's full of energy and just a hoot to listen to)
@@saraalexander1875 actually Frank only did a handful of Gummi episodes, mainly for animal sounds etc. the first episode with Gusto and Arte, Arte was voiced by Jymn Magon the shows creator then Brian took over

I responded to your comment right after seeing the part in the video that I assume prompted it: Jymn Magon saying he recorded Artie's first appearance, nobody remembering who took over the role, and Jim C. & Rob guessing it was Frank Welker. My comment was just a bit of hyperbole on how amazingly prolific Frank was in the 80s and 90s in VO roles across companies and properties; also that Brian often gets asked if he's related to Jim.
I like the new disney channel idea they should call it disney classic People who grew up on classic disney and people who think disney channel programing sucks now would totally tune in The only time i ever watch disney channel is when they air good movies i like and during the holidays thats about it
Tad Stones is awesome for everything he has done and created, and I appreciated all the behind-the-scenes info and other interesting anecdotes relating to the Disney Afternoon. But I think he kind of took just a "tad" (I guess pun intented) too much time away from allowing Jim (Cummings) and Rob to riff and improv using some of their character voices. Regardless, the fact that this even happened is amazing, and I wish I could've been there to witness it for myself!
@@timrob12 Er zijn inderdaad grote gelijkenissen, maar The Disney Afternoon (TDA) was een syndication package dat niet alleen een beperkt aantal shows had, maar ook sterk verweven was met marketing. Disney verkocht TDA in de VS met als doel ook een stuk van de reclameblokken tussenin te bezitten. Zo konden ze zelf reclame uitzenden van hun sponsors (McDonalds en Kellogg’s), terwijl de zenders er niets over te zeggen hadden, en er de poen voor kregen. Een strategie die in de VS “barterling” heet. De shows voor The Disney Afternoon werden ook specifiek voor dat blok gemaakt, maar daarna aan de rest van de wereld verkocht. Buiten de V.S. waren er geen afspraken met sponsors en werden de series gewoon verkocht aan zenders als syndication packages. Dat kon onder de naam “Disney Festival”, zoals bij ons, maar er waren ook meer formats voor handen, zoals in Nederland (en andere landen), waar er ook presentators voor handen waren om de boel aan elkaar te praten. In Nederland werd het uitgezonden als “Disney Parade”, wat in 1993 “Disney Festival” werd en nog door ging tot 2012. Zelfs in het V.K. werd het niet verkocht als The Disney Afternoon. Er zit wel meer verhaal aan The Disney Afternoon, maar daar zou ik een boek over kunnen schrijven. …wat ik ook gedaan heb ;) Die zit in de laatste fase voor publicatie. @@timrob12 Dankjewel. Ik vind het ook een interessant onderwerp. Een documentaire is al een paar keer besproken met de makers van die series. Jymn Magon en Tad Stones zijn bvb. na jaren van onderzoek al goede vrienden geworden. Maar ik weet niet of RU-vid het beste release medium zou zijn. Er staan hier al zoveel video’s op, vaak met verkeerde of gebrekkige informatie.. Ik ben bang dat het dan zou verdrinken in de massa onzin. ;)
I have through RU-vid. I also have the fist two volumes of the show on DVD, and I have the comic book series (Hilarious with some wonderful pop culture references in the mix).
I'm not usually the kind of guy who goes onto RU-vid and goes "what a weak-ass audience", but seriously they name-drop Darkwing Duck like five times before they have to ASK the audience if they want to hear Jim Cummings do the voice?!! What kind of backwards kind of world is this? I would've yelled at him to do the voice before I'd even gotten in through the door! He's the terror that flaps in the night for gods sake!
