That's what I thought this would be. I was like "outdoors? Well, the have robot Spider-Man and Groot so maybe they have something crazy for an outdoor show" Meh
As someone who absolutely LOVES Doctor Strange...they did my boy dirty here. This would have worked better as an indoor show with lighting effects on the ceiling and walls and the floors.
They should move the sanctum over to the hyperion, and just make it a 20 min show of him battling random forces with the help of a few of his apprentices. That would allow them to use special effects and they could theme the Hyperion to be absorbed into Avengers Campus because at this point most people are calling for AC to take over the Hollywood Backlot which doesn't have much going for it besides Monster's Inc. If they took over the whole area they could add 2 or 3 rides and even more food options. (Or maybe move his show room to the 3D theater and make it that instead of a live show). Or if they took over the 3D show area and made it a walk through Captain America/Superhero display gallery like in the movies and tv show that would be awesome.
Agree. Kinda weird this would be great for kids but the last trick involves an effect that would work best at night / when they prolly too tired to notice
I feel like they should've consulted and contracted with Penn and Teller to create something truly unique. If it would fool them, it'll definitely seem other worldly to us. This needs a lot of work.
Why Penn & Teller? There are countless magicians whom they could have consulted for this act. I get that you've seen them on TV, but they aren't the only magicians around.
This show is worse than Web Slingers. I hope the night version uses high tech projection mapping because the daytime version looks like a childs birthday with the local cosplay neighbor doing a favor.
People don't seem to understand that Avengers Campus is more targeted at kids. For a majority of kids these magic tricks and the Campus overall are probably exciting enough.
Well it’s a thing in a Disney park, so it’s obvious that it’ll be more targeted at kids. If Avengers Campus was at a Universal park then it would be changed to be more for teens and adults
@BardiVenom everyone appreciates good special effects. Are parents wrong for asking for something to be worth it when they paid hundreds of dollars? Another thing is the comparison People usually compare Disneyland rides and characters the movies they represent. When you watch Disney cartoon or the princess movies it's quite easy for Disney to give you the experience cuz the movies are not that action pact to begin with. But ig because MCU has already outdone itself with the movie it is really difficult for Disney to recreate it live. Also majority of MCU fans are adults, so they could made everything a bit more mature... But it's Disney, their rides change and upgrade according to critics. Haven't given up on Avengers Campus yet ✌
Can’t say I was blown away by all the magic, obviously I understand this has to be parkour tricks etc but I just think Disney are better than this and after all the hype avengers campus has had they really needed to wow like universal did with the wizarding world and so far from what I’ve seen I’ve been very underwhelmed…
I just went and loved what they attempted, but there's just not much to DO. I don't do big rides, so Guardians was out and I didn't have a boarding pass for Web Slingers, so there was nothing to really ride there. Some cool photo ops with characters though.
@@davidwaters8902 this is it, I think where universal have been so successful is they really thought about every aspect, there’s experiences such as Olivanders and interactive magic through the lands and themed shopping experiences etc whereas although Avengers Campus has shops they don’t feel immersive enough to make me excited to go there without just visiting because I am departing one of the rides…
If anyone has been to Universal's Island's of Adventure, and done Poseidon, THIS should have gotten the same treatment. Indoor tunnels, dark lightning, fire and water effects, etc.
I got second hand embarrassment from how low quality and uneventful this was. Being that the film was so visually stunning this was such a missed opportunity of being something breathtaking
its a good performance but a night viewing and probably some leds on his uniform to give the illusions he is actually casting a dr strange spell instead of him just waving his arm around like in the movie making it look less silly i mean if sun was down just a little more this strange could be using those led fans so his spells would actually appear in front of us and the lighting would hide the plastic fan
The only thing good about this, is this man's acting holy crap. This should have been an indoor, possibly 3D/special effect show. Like I love Dr And, but my goodness, I cannot get involved in this.
Second trash ayy action of Avengers Campus. My gosh. This rubbish is underwhelming. Disney is truly lost. The only good thing are the character interactions and the stuntronics. What a joke. Now I really feel better about ONLY visiting DL for one day.
Guess Doctor Strange got tired of being on a Disney cruise ship so he moved to the Avengers Campus so awesome to see him getting more than just a meet and greet at the parks. Also, this actor is spot on
My brother and his son was at the park on opening day, and my nephew loved it. He was in awe. Yes, he is 9 years old, but the show is meant to be for kid-appropriately. Vegas has wonderful magicians.
@@brendanBranco respectfully, I both agree and disagree with that thought process. I'm glad your kid enjoyed the show! However, Walt's original vision for Disneyland was that it could be a place where both parents and their kids could enjoy the entertainment and rides together. That's why I push for more effort to be put into shows like this. Disney has done lots of wonderful shows in the past that do succeed in creating magic that can be enjoyed by all ages. Since Marvel has so many adult fans, the land should accommodate that. Hopefully they will continue to improve it as time goes on! After all, Disneyland will never be complete
Soooo. Im still super excited to go see this in real life but…. Anyone else underwhelmed. There are theme park shows from the 90s that tried harder than this. I am sure they are just working out the kinks because Disney can do way better.
Wonder if they have a crew who note any feedback so they can make changes to be done over time since they only done enough to open place and go from there.
Tbh y’all, I later saw another vlog of this exact same show (same day, time & place) and it appeared way better there. I’m excited to see it, when I get a chance.
It's pretty boring in person too unfortunately, just saw it on vacation myself. The land in general as of right now at least, was a pretty big dissapointment
Yep. You’re not the only one who thinks the same. It all looks a bit underwhelming. Except for the food. Who would’ve thought the food would be the most intriguing thing about the land.
It’s probably going to have the same response as Millennium Falcon where people either like it or don’t. I know there were plans for a big E ticket ride here too down the line and hopefully they still is happening!
Well it’s Disney, so of course it won’t be as good as the stuff in Universal Orlando Resort because the Disney parks are targeted more for little kids. The Disney parks have a lot more kids than Universal Orlando Resort
Welp my expectations were waaay too high... hopefully a little better at night, I get it’s for children to some extent but maybe add some comedy, someone who talks besides Dr. Strange. It’s bad prop magic as the show stands right now but hopefully they can do more with this show in the future.
Agreed. One of the things I like about the movies is how snappy and witty strange is with others, none of that was in this. They need to find the right balance of appealing to adults Aka the people who pay for all this and the kids lol
I mean, he is supposed to have entered through a magic wormhole and we see him cover it up!!! But then he's poking around with handkerchiefs and rings??? I'd rather see the cool magic you can apparently do offstage, Dr. S.
@@AmusementLabs Right? He's out there alone on a HUGE space that seems to promise so much more. Penn and Teller design illusions that make great use of their available space. But here? He's just sort of lost. We need a huge inflated dragon or something (somebody call "Fantasmic!")
@@AmusementLabs Absolutely! Consulting Penn and Teller, or really any stage magicians should have been their first move. I think also, if they could go back and create a space that’s actually enclosed in a show building, because it’s going to be really hard to pull off any lighting/ smoke/digital “tricks” in an outdoor space like that. I heard the dangling hexagons are all speakers and helps create “3D” sound, but That should just be a supporting effect, not the only one that happens...
Gonna be a ton of hate on this. I’m sorry but this is Six Flags caliber. Someone said to remover this is for kids....but the kids AND the parents are supposed to have fun together.
Technically, the entire Disney park is for kids. But that's not an excuse for it to be low quality. I can't remember who said it but there's a quote about how kids content that can't be enjoyed by adults isn't good kids content.
@@antoniodiavolo Not correct. Walt Disney states he made the park for adults and children to have fun together. Walt saw the need for a place that was not just for kids like simple kiddie parks in his day.
So that's two things ill be skipping on my visit, this and the Spiderman ride. What's left? Food? They will cut the shows and stunt people down to nothing to save on money you can bet on that. Then this new land will be nothing more than an outside mall with a food court.
Ehhhh people had the same thought of galaxies edge that it was just going to be an overpriced flea market for Star Wars gear. The show I agree will be cut next summer (Gotta indirectly market multiverse of madness for next March) but that Spider-Man ride has potential seriously and if they do eventually add nods to other shows and films. It could literally be star tours with the different scenarios but on Spider-Man
I usually love Disney and most anything they do, but I have to be honest and this is about the most lame 'magic' type show I have ever seen. It seems like a big waste for the great looking set they built for this. It seems like this was all done to showcase the nice looking projection effect through the doors. I would have hoped Disney could have done something much better here.
It's interesting to hear Strange using spells like the powers of the Vishanti, or the hosts of Hoggoth. I've been catching up on the original run of Doctor Strange comics and these are all spells used quite frequently in them. However, I don't think I've ever seen/heard movie Strange use these particular spells, so it's a weird combo. Or maybe I'm just not caught up on my Marvel movies, idk. (Side note, can you tell how hard I tried not to use a Strange pun here? Lol)
