Donkey kong 3 is underated

This game was a masterpiece, pushed the hardware limitations of the SNES to its max.

32:11 has been playing in my head for the past several days and I couldn't remember if it was from this game or not. What a memorable tune. Oh, the simple, care-free days... how I miss them. The late nights. The sleepovers. The knocks on my door with invitations to hang out with other kids. The days when I actually felt like I had friends. The early Sunday mornings and rainy days walking downstairs from my room while covered in a blanket, with my favourite bowl of cereal in hand, ready to chill out in the basement pretty much until the evening. I still remember the day when my Dad, brother and I drove in the middle of a snow storm to purchase Donkey Kong Country 1 from a local gaming shop, called Giant Video, at the other side of town. Listening to this music reminds me of how grateful I am to have been a 90s kid and for all the wonderful fond memories that came with it. Growing up was tough on its own, but video games (and their respective soundtracks) brought an unparalleled and indescribable sense of blissfulness into my life. I consider myself very fortunate to have been part of such an epic era that many will never understand or have the thrill of experiencing. A cherished time period that encouraged raw human connection, and the discovery of joy in all the little things, before social media and technology completely took over.

So incredible how after not playing these games for 20+ years, these songs feel so recent and the memories so close. Donkey Kong was pure magic.

Man. The memories. I was 7 years old when this came out. I remember my grandma surprised me for my birthday with this game. I was over the moon about it. Couldn't believe she got it for me. She's still alive and is gonna be 100 years old in a few months. I remember this game being magic. Kiddy Kong was the best. I was always disappointed he was never in any other games. The water skipping ability was a lot of fun.

41:27 Water World is so moody, it reminds me of something that could from an Amiga-age cyber-punk game. It's just missing some rain ambience and the distant sound of police sirens.

Why am I so sad listening this OST? Too many memories. I'm getting old

1:09:23 This track literally changes the entire mood of the game. One moment, you're playing a kiddy game, with silly and goofy looking enemies, and one moment, this track is playing and suddenly you feel like you're fighting for your life. Definitely one of my favorite "OH SHIT!" moments in gaming, when I heard this badass track for the first time.

3 doesn't get enough respect. It's my personal favorite, and probably in my top 3 SNES games. I never see anyone say it's bad for sure, but I feel like it was a natural progression and improvement on the DKC formula. The difference between switching between a fast small floaty character and a big strong hard throwing character felt like a huge difference between just being fast or big.

10:25 I'll never forget that this was my introduction to the Mario 64 castle theme. I only played Mario 64 in bits and pieces as a kid, because I never owned an N64. In my entire life. But the SNES? I played that ALL the way until the GameCube era. I must have been like 5 or 6 when I first heard this music. It's kinda surreal to think. Most of my nostalgia for the Nintendo 64 was because it was so inspiring for everyone. Gmodders in 2010 used Banjo Kazooie music all the time. I remember visiting Lemmy's Land in the 2000's and it'd use Super Mario RPG music. I'd often visit my best friend in order to play Smash 64. It's kinda crazy that I feel nostalgia for the N64 without having owned it. A lot of, like...vicarious nostalgia.

Holy shit this music is so dark and filled with so much emotion. I forgot how good this stuff was. Nothing comes close to the quality of the music from this generation of video gaming to me for some reason.

懐かしき思い出が戻ってくる

Thank you for the upload. Great ambient music. A lot of first experiences with this game. It was one of the first games I completed. About halfway through the game at 9 or 10 years old I ordered the guide from some mail-in pamphlet out of a Nintendo Power magazine, then proceeded to 103% the game. I remember resetting this game so much, dying constantly, running out of continues, grinding for bear coins and bananas. This is probably one of the pivotal games that taught the lessons of patience and hard work as a kid. At least in my case. What a rush of memories.

Always loved Funky's theme in DKC3, it really drives home his "cooler than cool" personality. He's that one chill af bro who's always got your back, no matter what happens.

More than 20 years playing this game almost every year and I've just realized that Wrinkly 64 has the same melody of Super Mario 64's Castle Theme. This game is awesome, my favorite from the original three games.

I don't know about any of you, but this is my personal favorite DKC soundtrack. The fusion of catchy melodies and atmosphere is amazing and unique.

SO nostalgic! Mama Bird makes me shiver everytime. Beating this game 103% was one of the best experiences in my childhood. :)

This track reminds me of one of the best memories of my childhood. In the 90s, when my older sister and I were children, we didn't have the money to buy several games. We only played "top gear" because it was the game that came with our snes. My mother worked in a cafeteria in the city center and there was a game store. Every Friday, when my mother left work, she would arrive at the video store for the final minutes to close and always rented a game for us. One of those times, my mom came home with the game we love the most. Every time I hear "Northern Kremispheres" I am transported to that day.

10:25 To think, I spent about 5 years hating Mario because of the Vanish Cap stage and the frustration it caused 3-year old me when I was visiting family; and a reference to that same game was in a game I had access to for most of my childhood. Life can be funny that way.

It's awesome to see so many comments praising the quality of its music and the meaning that Donkey Kong saga had for many kids in the 90s regardless about the culture, languages and so on, for me this saga is a milestone in the videogames industry and surely it's deeply set in my childhood's memories.
