Hi Guys, I sat my full license today and -flew- drove through my test. 😝 Now, unless you are as lucky as the guy in this vid I'd highly recommend people to practice verbally identifying hazards because I had to do it. My testing officer said it is the biggest difference between the restricted and full. But, fear not. Because I'd say a full license test is basically like your restricted but much easier! *A bit of a heads-up to help my fellow kiwis going for their full:* 1.Don't be nervous and freak yourself out before the test, stay calm. It really isn't that scary. At all. Think of it as a restricted test minus the parallel parking & 3point turn. And the addition of your hazard identification skills and a bit of common sense. 2. Practice verbally identifying hazards (just incase you aren't as lucky as the one in this video :/). For example: "Oncoming traffic, I'm keeping to the left at a safe distance" "Car in front of me and I'm just keeping a safe distance behind it" "Car behind me and I'm keeping an eye out on it" "People up ahead and I'm watching them" "Car to my right and I'm giving way" And so on and so forth. Pretty self explanatory. Once you get through your first set of identifying hazards you will breeze through the rest. Go for a drive around and say out loud the hazards and what you're doing about them or, even watch this video (like I did a night before 😂😂😂) and practice calling out the hazards you see here. Easy peasy. 3. If your testing officer is anything like mine, they will go over what they're looking for from you before you even start your car up anyway (prompt you at random times while you're driving to identify hazards, using your mirrors, knowing where the handbrake is lol) so you will have a fair idea on what's expected during your test. 4. Just stay calm and enjoy the ride! You guys got this! Good luck to anyone who stumbles across this and finds this comment helpful! Happy driving 😊👍🏻
I think he edited out the hazard identification parts throughout his test. But it’s puzzling as to why the agent didn’t mention his 20 year wait at the roundabout lol
this person pass even when he waited so long at the roundabout but i failed because one of the VTNZ examiner thinks i waited too long at the roundabout. this is sooooo unfair
Thank you, mate. That was useful. I passed in the same route. For people who are going to the test: pay attention to the distance between you and obstacles from your sides and look to the mirrors all the times!
I watched this video before I sat my full test today which I passed and I wasn't asked to do any hazard detection. It was far easier than the restricted test.
Hot Topic - Round About! It is not necessary to waste that many opportunities as waiting like that holds up and frustrates other traffic. Best option is to use the round about as it was intended, to keep traffic flowing! I'm surprised you got away with 100% as I would have knocked some marks back.
He should have got a critical error for the long wait at the roundabout. Imagine if a driver on the other side waited like that - no one would move! You should only wait for those to your immediate right.
Nice! Did the test today, was basically an easy 15 minute drive for me. I didn't have to call any hazards too which was surprising! I feel as though the instructor would only ask you to point out hazards if you seemed like a sketchy driver or not doing enough head/ mirror checks.
TheDeceptikron just like when you're driving on your restricted, you don't have to put L plates on during your full driving test. Not sure if you're joking or asking a serious question?
I just passed my full license test here! For those who are planning to do their full here - There are multiple routes so it most likely won't be the same, but there was just a bit less than 50% overlap of the test route when I did it. Just drive around this area to familiarise. Hazard identification is pretty much only at intersections.
im doing my full this arvo in albany. It happed with my restricted, I didn’t know what the speed limit was. So I just drove 70km/h. I think it was 80 cos I still passed. So what do I do in that situation? I told the instructor that I didn’t know the speed limit and he just shrugged. 😭
@@denikagardner8383 If it wasn't a residential area, then most likely it was 80. I think you did the best in your situation - kind weird for your instructor to not say anything tho :/ Hope your test went well!
Very different from mu UK driving test many years ago. We had hill starts with gears, backing around corners, three point turn, emergency stop for a start. Then we were expected to drive in London traffic all thorough the test and answer questions. It was really tough. My car, a brand new Austin 40, would not go into gear which annoyed the tester until I asked him to try. At the end of the test where he had made me do a very difficult hill start onto a busy road and I did not like that at all, I passed first go but it was one of the most difficult drives of my life. Oh and you were not allowed to dawdle at right hadn't turns with traffic approaching. You had to judge where you could safely slip through and no waiting for the end of a long line. If you missed your chance you were failed as being too slow. This test would be a piece of cake.
Did my full license test today. And they asked me 8 times about hazard identification. And i asked the guy at VTNZ there is any chance you dont do the hazard identification at full license and he said "No, hazard identification part is compulsory and you have to do it during your full liciense test".
My sister did a couple of tests at North Shore as well, and she wasn't asked about hazard identification as she asked me what it was. I was only told today by my instructor, so this centre might not really ask candidates about it.
I just had my test for full license on same place ...and believe or not they didn't ask me to identify any hazards or even go on motorway (no parallel parking either !) test was only 15 minutes
Congratulations for passing and thanks for uploading this.... But man, 1 minute and 10 seconds to turn right at the round about when you had the chance to do so for like the first 30 seconds? 🤦🏻♀️ Oh and for others out there, though it may not count anymore since I took my full about 3 years ago but I wasn’t asked as well to identify hazards... However, I did go through lots of lots of roundabouts! (about 6-8 round abouts in Oteha Valley/Browns Bay area). Other family members weren’t asked to tell the instructor what safety precaution they’ll take and some did. So, it’s just up to what kind of instructor you’ll get I guess.
Got my license test today!!! Easy drive😝 the instructor didn't tell me to indicate any hazards through out the test and I only did around 20? Min drive thinking that I failed.
You can only get one critical error wrong on your full licence if you get more then one you failed . And if you do any dangerous things or don’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign your test is over . Well done on passing your test im practising for my full licence
@@w1lbur823 another year later.. But I think he did the legally correct thing. They weren't indicating left upon exiting the roundabout so he technically couldn't safely go
@@R3PTILENZ yeah 95% of people dont do their exit signal so usually its safe to go. But technically its incorrect and you are supposed to display defensive driving in the test.
@@kkiwi54 it may be skipped when English is the second language. trust me, at one stage it's really difficult to do both (speak and drive). calling hazzards in this case is distractive factor, its unsafe to do.
I swear there is a huge difference to how each instructor marks. There something about these test that are designed to make people fail, more revenue I guess.
I wonder why you take so long giving way in the intersections and roundabouts and it’s still a good test. Might be that there were no cars behind you. I’m giving mine next Friday and I’m quite nervous.
just got it from same location, was about the same route only error was driving too slow cause it was raining T.T. Hazards are very simple and very self-explanatory ( Oncoming car stay to the left , person on the footpath watch out that he doesnt cross my path etc etc).
lmao maaaate, just checked and it's still hasn't changed you still have to identify hazard's, means SPEAKING, must be a conversation DL from another country to NZ FULL Licence, oh btw you took to long on the roundabout and could have gone while the other cars/vans were turning tho their right, but all gud u passed ;)
Cookie Toast if people need a support person becoz they can't understand English..... Then they shouldn't be driving becoz they wouldn't be able to read nz signs etc. Thats just bs
The laws for Overseas drivers in this country need to change . Overseas drivers that want a International or NZ conversion licence should be required to sit their licence from scratch.
Overseas drivers have to sit the learner's i,e. theory test as well as the full practical driving test. The only step missing in the overseas conversion is the restricted test.
Not asking for hazard identification is at the discretion of testing officer. Many overseas driver have not been asked to identify hazards during their practical test. If the testing officer feels that the driver is not observant enough, s/he may be asked to do so.
why did you stand so long at roundabout? (7.00) it was safe to do a right turn, isn't it? gonna do a conversion of my overseas license, is that a local road code issues?
Just in case. there has been some changes about hazard identification test. L plates will have to take the test before attempting to do the driving test.
Dont even try to say you was trying to stretch out time when you Waited two weeks for the car in the car park to go Waited ten hours to turn right Waited seven years at the roundabout Did a drawn out 3 point turn but called it a “U-turn” which i reckon is what the instructor really meant
I thought you had to do parallel parking and go on the motorway! I'm teaching my 17 year old daughter and those last 2 haven't got to as yet. Her test will be from Glen Innes.
Lol this old guy probably marks based on how he was taught to drive in the 1950's. Wish I had him as instructor, I just get insta fails from the VTNZ guys around here.
Layla Cherry how did it go? I did my restricted a month ago at vtnz Glenfield and they failed me for a bus pulling out and not indicating (wasn’t my fault) and they failed me on a “instructor intervention”
Layla Cherry this may seem like a random question but could you describe the instructor you had... also I’m resisting my restricted this Thursday so good luck me
Depends on the instructor....Most of the international driving conversion to Full Driving license they may not ask to identify hazard or parallel parking. But always be prepared rather than be surprised.
It looked like he was going faster then what he was supposed to but when you look outside of a car it always looks like it’s going fast so it’s hard to tell.
For a full license driver it requires you to get into a roundabout much quicker when it's safe to go. And you had to point out hazards and show your capability of driving on a motor way ten year ago. Is it really a full license test? Much easier than mine.
He was correct to wait at the round about at 6:50 because those cars sitting there waiting could have shot out between the cars coming across their path and hit him
No he had plenty of opportunity to proceed safely; you don't have to stop for cars that are waiting to enter the roundabout if they cannot do so because of traffic already on the roundabout, he was not hampered in any way and should have proceeded
This is either a friend passing a friend? family? or kinda races man? seriously he passed without hazard identification? also the round about man that was more then enough time to respond? hold up traffic mate?Really?
Its because of nerves, the driver was nervous, like majority of applicants are when they have a testing officer alongside. I used to do this job a long time ago, we wore a uniform which added to the applicants nervousness, but we were aware of that and allowed for it during the test.
You’re an idiot to make this comment, this is overseas license conversion test which applicant doesn’t require to identify hazards and point the, out. Moron
