Look into beekeeping in that case. Most people won't buy a candle but everyone needs honey/sugar. Bees also produce beeswax and you can farm bees within city limits
@@corneliusc8952 Thank you for the tip and I will. I've had some success with candles, but beekeeping would make sense also, as I love gardening; so it would just be the extra addition. I have 8 fruit trees so far.
Can a braided cotton twine be used to make a 100% paraffin candle as a wick if soaked in wax first? Can food vanilla be used as a fragrance? What temperature should paraffin be raised to?
I want to make some candles in a glass ice cream dish. So the bottom would have the wax and then at the top I want to put the wax made using an ice cream scoop mold. But how would I solve the problem of having the wick go all the way down? Any suggestions?
Just used this to make three candles to surprise my wife when she gets home from a business trip; this guide was absolutely first rate, super accessible, non-pretentious, informative, and very easy to follow. 12/10 stars. Thanks so much.
@@TheDownables Very much. Not so much for the quality but more for the effort. The quality was more lacking because these were some of the first candles I made, so not my best work. In the time since I've improved the craft considerably and have developed a finer sense of smell for mixing and matching scents, for wick placement in candles, and for overall best practices. Nothing educates like experience.
This quarantine is making me do things like puzzles and darts and baking Paper mache, a bit of ballet and chess Pottery and ventriloquy, and Now Candle making!! 👌🏼
Hahaha its like we are finding out all the possible things we can get interested in, in a couple of months, which would otherwise have taken a lifetime or beyond 😁 P.s you can check out homemade soap making next 😂

Her: heat gun Me: last time a heat gun was used in my house it was in the garage and my dad melted a little bit of the garage carpet *so how about hair dryer*
Never been much of a crafter, but i recently got hooked on candles and after spending a lot of money buying 12 and 14 dollar candles i thought i better see what's available. I see some money saving crafting in my future.
Another important thing I would say is to pour wax in heat proof cup ,bowl or any decorative tub ,glass ;) definitely don’t use plastic tragedies do happen when people don’t use heat proof stuff 😰😱😭
This is glorious, I've been looking for "candle making supplies" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.
@@oreobenavidez953 I would assume it should be fine if I understand it right (being from different country )🤔😅 as normally enamel cookware is safe for cooking so yes I would say it’s worth a go :)
Thank you for a very clear and understandable tutorial. I appreciate it that you gave clear explanations as to WHY you did things a certain way. Not all content creators take the time to do that.
One of the best explanations I've found so far, so thank you. Couple questions 1# what's the temp for pouring ideally using soy/soy and coconut wax? 2# how does the decorations handle the heat of the wax and do they catch a light? Thanks for sharing.
I am going to attempt making a candle for the first time ever and I am so glad I saw this video as it gave me so many important tips! Thank you for this!!
@@beaustique9712 Celcius or Farenheit? I've made the mistake of assuming people are talking about celcius before, and let me tell you, my cake did not turn out great..
I love this tutorial! It was so concise and helpful. I love making gifts - paintings, scrapbooks, cards, jewellery but for some reason was never game enough to try candles. Thanks for the tips!
Im doing beach theme, too. The tall candles are now $30-40.its insane. Need to make my own because nothing matches this also expensive painting. I would love to change my theme but this is cheaper to add color to my rooms with candles. Spent a fortune on decorative towels, too, trying to be cheap. Everything is sky high right now. I bought a bunch of candles on ETSY. NEVER AGAIN!
No fire starters in my home....sorry candle makers not even a thumb(from Two and a Half Men)(now Googling ways to prevent fires when using candles in home...😆'cuz these are beautiful!!!)
Thank you so much for all the tips and reasons why you're doing things a certain way~ I suddenly got the urge to try my hand at candle making, and this helps me feel more comfortable starting up!
Hello from Mexico! Your video is great, it has small details that seem very important and others don’t mention this, thank you for your time and dedication. I’d love to see a video for diy soaps.
sheri vegas, how to measure the fragrance? And what kind of fragrances are you using? Pure essential oils or fragrances prepared specifically for candles? Thanks in advance.
Hello! Love the video! Thanks for explaining into detail & showing after pics. Quick question. Is it safe to add those kind of decor? It won’t like catch on fire? Or do you remove the sea shell at a particular time the candle is burning? Would also like to add particular food items, such as candy corn, coffee beans, or cinnamon sticks. Thank you
Where do you purchase your fragrance oil? I have never made a candle, would love to try. I would like to make one and you be able to really smell the fragrance.
185 grade Celsius add the fragrance mix it well for a minute or so , move it from the heat. Let to cool down to 135 grade Celsius and put it into the jar.
I love the candle. Your choice of bowl, the starfish, and petals, as well as the wax are delightful. You're amazing and so kind to share your talent and process and technique! You're the star!!!!! 🤩❤💯👍
Just wonderful, I've been looking for "melting soy wax candle making" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got cool results with it.

Hi just stumbled on your channel! Love it! I’m trying to do research to start making my own candles..can I use a hairdryer to preheat my jar if I don’t have a heat gun?
Me, a beginner, watching this video: *:)* Sheri: “you will need a bowl, wick, wax, scents, and…” Me: *sounds good” Sheri: “a heat gun” Me: “f***” (Im not hating…it’s just a joke 🙂)
At the beginning of your video you showed a wood wick that was fairly wide and had a curve to it. These are beautiful. Where can one buys these curved wood wicks? Also you mentioned pouring temp, but I didn't hear what temperature that was. And what temp is right for adding the fragrance?
Blanche Rutherford hey I got them from candle supplies Australia. For the temperature it depends on the type of wax and the brand. When you get your wax it should say on the website what temp.
