Awesome production values on this Marion and team. I would love you to do a pantry basics and show us all the things in your pantry and freezer so that when we go asian grocery shopping we can stock up. I've made your soy sauce chicken, it was awesome and I could have stuck a straw in that braising liquid/sauce.

Ohhhh I do so like you so very much Marion. Then I like your description of yourself. A little bit Asian, a little bit Australian. Now that’s the Magic that appears in your cooking. Then I truly love your recipes. They ARE truly MAGICAL!!! Though I was DEEPLY disappointed to discover our Christchurch NZ, Countdown Supermarket, now under the Woolworths Brand and has been for many months now, simply does NOT STOCK your Meal Kits. Yes I was SO DEEPLY disappointed. So I manage to make your recipes with a little ingenuity and maybe not perfectly Marion ‘s a little bi5 of Asian and a little bit Australia, mine are now also a little bit Kiwi as well. Such tasty WONDERFUL food Marion. THANK YOU from the bottom of my Heart and of course my Stomach as well. I’ve discovered apart from the sauce my Coleslaw and yours are truly country cousins, BUT the sauce takes it from ordinary to AMAZING. Bless your Heart an$ your parents for producing you. My dearest late Mother would have LOVED your recipes that turn food into such a sublime taste treat indeed. My Carer is wonderful. She’s going to be taking me to an Asian Shop she herself frequents so I can hunt down some of your recommended ingredients. I’m partially disabled and I was 78 last year. Yet I garden in,pots to grow things it’s not easy or too expensive to buy plus ordinary things as well. I’ve a great kitchen stool that I perch on doing my food preparation and cooking. So I consider I’m really VERY lucky indeed. Thank you SO very MUCH Marion. Margot New Zealand Now I need to find something to make with all my little eggplants that I’ve grown. It’s time for them to be picked and shared with my Carer and my daughter. I shall be scouring your recipes to see if you have your own recipe using little Asian eggplants.

Marion: FYI- at most Woolies supermarkets you can get Korean sweet potato noodles- although I’m much smaller packages- I’m assuming Noosa would have them, as I live a few hours from Noosa in a smaller town and we have them!👍🏻 They come in a blue packet! I love them also- I use them making a cheats korean Japchae and in my Korean style dumplings!🥰🥰

Great combination of recipes Marion, can't wait to give them a try. Appreciate the essential ingredients, still would like to know the best brands of each, it's so overwhelming when you go to an Asian market. Like I know Pearl River Bridge for certain products like salted black beans , Panda brand oyster sauce, Pagoda brand for Shao Singh wine, really helps knowing the best so all your hard work pays off. Great class as always, Thank you, and have a great weekend.❤️👍

Thai Basil is readily available in the US. Maybe order “plugs” for your garden (the easiest way to grow them, being already started and growing for you)! Or order seeds from the US. All basils start from seed exceptionally easy! A third consideration is to get your hands on a plant and root cuttings in water, super easy peasy! I worked at a garden nursery for several years so I kinda know about these things! PS, even if you can get your hands on store bought fresh Thai Basil, trim the ends and pop them in water, they will root very quickly if you change the water ever couple of days! No other work is needed outside of planting it! You can easily have Thai Basil at your fingertips any time you need it. It’s pots really well too! Just RU-vid how to prune it to keep it super healthy and it will last you for many years! 🙂🙂🙂 Also, I’d be more than happy to send you seeds! Just let me know!
@kathydurow6814
@kathydurow6814 2 месяца назад
Just a warning that sending seeds to Australia may be illegal (strict customs/quarantine rules). To other countries, check the receiving end's local laws first. Thai Basil seed is available in Australia, try your major hardware stores or online seed clubs/vendors.

Thai Basil is available in Australia - Marion literally had some in the video 😂 - it's just more available in Thailand. Even if it wasn't I imagine one would import it from Thailand which is on Australia's doorstep, rather than from the US

Negative Nancy here - Asia is a continent with 50 countries (Turkey, Japan, Russia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand etc), it is not a country. All countries in Asia have different cultures and food and different staples. Africans or Europe pantry staple would also be wrong.

Have you never been to as "Asian" food store? Most where I live are operated by Vietnamese but they sell ingredients from almost all of South-, South-East- and East-Asian countries such as Indian spices, Chinese sauces, Thai herbs, Japanese nori leaves, Korean pastes and whatnot. Yes, most of Turkey and Arabia are also located in Asia, but their cuisine is generally not considered "Asian". And while the different countries' cooking have their distinct differences they also have commonalities that make them different from other continents' cuisine.
