You know, we who grew up with the 49ers, suffered with them for so many years in the 50's, 60's and 70's, we have a special appreciation for DC. His persona was absolutely the example of what it is to be a hero. In fact, those 49ers teams of Walsh and Seifert and DeBartolo will never be forgotten. They glued the Bay Area together with their excellence.

What a tribute to be buried by the goal post where he made The Catch and how classy of Eddie to do that on his property.

Eddie was a good owner and appreciated his team unlike some others who are always on a power trip.

Tony B Edd D treated his players and office workers like family. Montana even say Eddie D loved his players and family office workers. Eddie D even done things people don’t know about because he did it from his heart.

A great player who helped take us to the promised land of dynasty football. But an even better person sounds like. A cure for ALS can never come sooner. Prayers all and RIP DC.

Not only was Dwight a great football player, he was also a very good and decent person. When the 9ers has their spring training in northern California near the Marysville/Yuba City area he learned about a handicapped young man who was a big fan of the team. Brad had never walked a day in his short life. One time while he was in one of his far too often admissions to a hospital, Dwight visited him. That visit was the highlight of my close friend's son's life.

Dwight was definitely blessed, he was on the right place to receive God's Blessing. He was there in the scout when Bill Walsh was trying Steve Fuller, He was on the right place when Montana threw the ball so he could catch it. He is now in the right place in heaven coaching angels on receiving God's Passes. Thank you Dwight, great players like you made me the football fan I am today. I will not change football for nothing !! Amen.

Right. Don't forget that Joe missed a wide open Fred Solomon before this play giving DC the chance to be the hero. Nobody knew how fortunate he was more than Dwight himself. Even as he was wasting away he scoffed at anyone who might feel sorry for him He was the true " luckiest man alive".😣

To all responsible for this touching tribute to someone who has brought inspiration and joy to so many, I sincerely thank you. As a inner fan from the early 70's, I remember the catch , to this day, like it happened 5 minutes ago. For all inner fans, it was the transcendent moment in time that never grows old. Its great to know, that Dwight was ever more inspiring off the field. Thanks to all that shared your memories. Love and prayers to all. And Dwight, if you cross paths with my dad in heaven ,a lowly copyboys fan, remind him who you are, what you did, and that you actually played with god.

Wow! Bill Walsh goes to see Clemson QB Steve Fuller workout and Dwight Clark who didn't have much of a career at Clemson is running routes and catching passes for Fuller and makes an impression on Walsh who drafts him in the 10th round. I think today's draft is six rounds. Clark was one of the first big, fast WRs at 6'3". Another Wow! is the city of San Francisco Parks & Recreation Dept. owned and managed Candlestick Park. Eddie D. got city property (the goal post from The Stick from 1982) to put in his yard. Smooth, extra smooth.

Huey Lewis said it. "the Catch" changed our team and our lives. They went from perennial losers to winners in that singular moment of greatness. I have much more respect for players and their families and I'm a little more humble.

It's hard sometimes to keep one's faith. We're told everything happens as part of God's plans but I often see just some of the worst kinds of people doing all sorts of unconscionable things & these people often live very long destructive lives. Then I see a man like Dwight & he's taken at age 61. Like I said I struggle with faith. I hope someday it'll all make sense.
