I miss Woodstocknso so much. I moved away for work, but I regret it now. I lived right on the square and loved every minute of it. It truly is a fantastic place to live. I also really miss the food at the public house. Just a funny coincidence, the table they sat looks like the table my wife and I sat at and ate the last time we were there before moving. The farmers market was great and the concerts in the park. It really is a community that is safe, fun, and a great place to raise a family.
I grew up in Huntley directly south of Woodstock on Route 47 until i was around 15 years old. I’ve watched movies in that theater, I’ve been in that square on many occasions, nearly broke my ankle stepping into that pothole multiple times, ate breakfast in that cafe at least once (I think it was under a different name though), visited when they were shooting a movie (a section of the square was cordon off for it so I wasn’t able to get close; plus they were on lunch break), heck I even saw the stars show up for the premiere at the Opera house from the mall on the west side of the square south from the public house! The media were there as were private limos (they’re the ones with the blue accent lights instead of the standard yellow ones)!
Some say that Woodstock Illinois is the center of McHenry County. But others (that are just a tad more inspired) insist that it is really the center of the known Universe.
