Those are what you would probably call dynamic squats. There's another variation of that exercise that includes an isometric hold. So instead of sitting down on the bench or plyo box, you'd squat down to 4-6 inches off the bench or box, hold for 6 secs, then sit down, lift the knees (like in the video) and hold for a sec and then explode up (as seen in the video). I was able to build up to 365lbs for at least 6 reps when I was sprinting heavy at the age of 33, but you don't need that much weight to be explosive or get faster. Using lighter weight will get you there too! You'll eventually get stronger as you build and be able to apply the amount of force to the ground when sprinting in order to be more explosive. There's a DVD that I got years ago called "Dynamic Force weight training for Speed, Power, and Strength" by Jim Woods. Great information, it worked wonders for me.
@@caution934 How high can you jump? How much can you improve it? What's the max you could ever jump after optimal training? Now, can you improve it? If your answer is "no," then you agree with me. If your answer is "yes, I can improve it," then you're deluded. Now, assuming you're not deluded and answe "no," take that number for every person on earth. Is it the same for everyone? If you say "yes," then you're deluded again. If you say "no, it differs based on genetics," then you're a logical human being who knows a thing or two about genetics.
