To answer the question about why Thrive's charity is necessary, there's the self-esteem aspect of it, but often times women need makeup for jobs and interviews. Even just a small amount of makeup can help a woman looking for a job seem more put-together and professional. This is especially important for at-risk women who are homeless, escaping domestic abuse, etc., as they might not have the means on their own to afford good makeup.
Jupiter Liam precisely. I can’t even imagine women in need NOT needing makeup. It’s not a “need” like water or shelter or food. It’s a NEED like clean clothes, soap, haircuts, etc. People in NEED don’t just have to be kept alive! They need help to... Wait for it...... THRIVE. Lol.
I agree. I believe that regardless of looks, self esteem and confidence is very sexy for a woman to have. That self confidence is everything. Anything that makes a female look and feel good and can help empower them, why not? Sometimes I swipe on lipstick and play with make up while at home or just running errands. It's a matter of how I want to feel that day. Some days (more often than not) I don't wear make up at all. Depends on mood and setting. Even one product can pull a look together and make a woman feel put together and happy. So why not? Everyone could use a little self love!
sure, but makes us think about how conditioned we are to use make up and not appreciate our natural skin and beauty without polishing or enhancing anything. I love makeup, but I don't wear it every day, 3 main reasons: 1) save money, not only in too many make up per se, but also make up removers and cleansers to unclog pores. 2) healthier skin. No matter if it is dermatological quality, make up weighs on the health of our skin 3) self esteem, because accepting and loving ourselves as we are makes easier for others to recognise and appreciate us. 4) less pollution. And yes, I try to forget about those reasons when I do wear make up, once or twice a week. because I find fun and joy in the artistry or recreating my own face and changing looks. For women in need, it can be pampering and make them feel like others care for them, something very important... and as you mentioned, helps about seeking a job, but this is also because how conditioned our society is about demanding so much from women in all aspects.
Exactly! Women can have scars from abuse, burns, recovering addicts, poor mental health management, etc. Something as simple as anxiety can destroy a person’s life and make it difficult to function. Women unfortunately are immersed in a vanity culture and we are expected to look put together even when we are falling apart. If something as small as concealer or lipstick can help a woman feel confident enough to do things as simple as grocery shopping or keeping a doctors appointment without feeling that people are staring, then I’m thrilled.
I honestly love the way Kathleen does her makeup especially her brows. Its so different with its natural-looking fullness compared to other gurus who basically paint on their eyebrows. I also love how she reviews cc creams or low to medium coverage products, because as a makeup consumer myself I prefer the “natural look” and I don’t buy full coverage stuff which I will never use except for really crap skin days.
I watch BOTH of you constantly and completely trust your opinions! Thank you both for introducing me to Thrive, I’m definitely becoming a loyal customer ♥️
I just want to take a second to give massive editing and behind-the-scenes props to Kathleen cuz I feel like no one really addresses the amount of work she puts in to making her videos not only entertaining but very smooth and SO satisfying to watch through. For such a huge creator to still edit her own videos and do all of this complicated shit on her own is incredible!! Love you endlessly Kathleen!! Been here since year 1❤️❤️
Can you please do a face of Glossier cosmetics? I have been so curious about them (and Milk makeup) but don't trust anyone's opinion as much as yours, because we have the same skin type!
I love their mascara! It truly is the only mascara that makes my lashes so full. and Kathleen, I love your eyebrows! The "grown out" is a look that not many people can pull off and you do it so well!
HOW CAN YOU JUST TAKE A RANDOM PICTURE LIKE THAT AND LOOK FKING STUNNING I DO THAT AND LOOK LIKE A POTATO.. I have to take 100 just to find one that’s ‘ok’ ☹️😂
It genuinely makes me SO happy to hear more about Thrive. Every product I've used of theirs is AMAZING, and I feel like it's not talked about that much, which makes me sad because it's such a good company. I'm so glad to see it getting some love!!
Random but I've been watching Kathleen for years and I just love how she's one RU-vidr who has stayed so genuine and sincere. Almost 4 million followers and she's still this dorky and sweet girl who makes me feel like I'm just sitting with one of my friends every time I watch her!
I bought the mascara, cc cream, and loose powder because of your recommendation and love all of these products! I’m almost positive the powder is my favorite loose powder ever. I usually wear rcma or hourglass powder but this really is blurring and doesn’t accentuate the wrinkles under my eyes. They look smooth and flawless. Love the mascara and the fact I have no smudging or flaking. And the cc cream!!!! It was so easy to apply and looked natural but evened out my skin tone. I think it’s gonna be my new favorite “foundation” to wear. I’m totally impressed!
Poor people, homeless people, people in need, etc can still feel worthy by material things just like us ‘normal’ people. We buy things cause it’s fun and sometimes makes us feel a little better.
Ladyhmcgaga 17 I think she just meant people were asking since make up is not on your priority list when you are homeless. Of course making someone feel better about themselves is incredibly important. I think we can all agree on that.
I used to work at a domestic violence shelter. Women would come to us with nothing. We provided clothes and hygiene products. Wish we would have had makeup. It is a dignity issue. It gives humanity back to those who have had it stripped from them. Thank you for highlighting this company! 💚💚💚
Omg, I know you said this is a Basic eye look, but this is the most Gorgeous basic eye shadow look I Have ever seen. I'm definitely going to try this brand. The products look totally AMAZING!!!!! Thank you for doing this ❤❤❤
Love how you define your lips at the top!! So many youtubers have stopped defining the natural top lip and draws kind of like a straight line! It just looks so un-natural to me!
I love how real you are in this video! Its a full face using Thrive cosmetics and you can tell how honest you are with each product! This is why I still continue to watch you to this day!
I actually like the feathery, hairy brow look you have going on lol Btw, I’m not saying you’re wrinkly or anything, but do you know of any product to use for smile lines and/crows feet??
Wow! you can make anything look great! I had never heard of thrive cosmetics honestly but they look and sound amazing! I will definitely need to try it out! Great review
MagdalineJanet - I got all excited, then I noticed the first ingredient was talc and so this very dry gal has had to pass. Talc is my enemy in face powders.
OMG I am early for once. I hope you see this. I love you so much and I just want to say KL Polish means so much to me. Doing my nails is therapeutic and your nail polish is my favorite! I always get so excited to get it in the mail and then paint my nails with them! It always helps my anxiety so much 😍 and not to mention the packaging is gorgeous to look at as well! Super fun to collect! and I thank you so much for flash sales!!💓
Same. Just ordered my 3rd tube and 1 for my bfs young daughter. The idea of her using any of the ones I used and loved before is scary... I recommend it to everyone!
I’ve heard more than a few stories about women who have lost their houses in fires etc. and putting on makeup can really just be therapeutic because it’s so normal and routine. There’s something very soothing and empowering about knowing, in moments where you can’t control horrible things that happen in life, that you can control what you look like. It’s definitely an important initiative ❤️
Thank you! I will now be buying the cc cream, bronzer and a setting powder. first video clicked on and now I don’t have to watch anymore, you killed it girl, I appreciate you!!!
I am a mom of 3 and was recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Losing your hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, and seeing your body morph is so much more than cosmetic appearance- it cuts deep and challenges who you see in the mirror. I fell in love with Thrive and I am so glad this brand supports women in need.
That cc cream looked flawless!!!! But that highlight brought out some texture😓 I don’t know much about the brand but definitely looking into the cc cream! Thank you for all your hard work, I love your videos. Much love 💕
So awesome to hear positive contributions from beauty community. Our non profit group is small but we support young women just out of rehab and getting back into a healthy lifestyle. A commitment to a fully changed life course needs as much help as possible and to feel beautiful and confident, as they get back on track to being purposeful and a positive contribution to their family and community!
noooo i LOVE your eyebrows right now!! you, mariah leonard, and taylor hill have inspired me to let my beasts grow out for that effortlessly chic model look.
Random, but love this soothing but upbeat background music!! It’s a production thing that a lot of RU-vidrs overlook or rush and it matters a lot. Keep up the vibe!
I have watched PLENTY of your videos... I must say... you look STUNNING here (and really without the help of "foundation"...)...just perfectly beautiful. So so pretty.
I ordered the CC cream today and I cannot wait to get it and see how it works for me. I’m feeling very optimistic since you’ve raced so much about it. Thanks Kathleen.
This is the first video I’ve seen by you & the way you are just blew me away because unlike other beauty gurus, you seem so down to earth and humble. Your personality is way more relatable than others . You’re so beautiful & im pretty glad I subscribed. 💖
Gorgeous! Don't worry about your brows, they look great. I really want to thank you for not ALWAYS putting on lashes like most others do. Some of us just cannot deal with false lashes. No time for them and they just never work for me. But a great mascara works every time!
I was already considering purchasing the CC cream, but you 100% convinced me to buy it. Now I'm also considering the setting powder because it was like magic on your pores.
I totally agree...there mascara is bomb! I’ve tried several tubular mascaras and hated them...I’m totally going to copy your eye look tomorrow...love it!
I really love your music choice in this video. It was so calm and relaxing and not so weird hyped up and just annoying and distracting like you see /hear in other people's videos. Just wanted to put that out there! Love your videos as always!💕
WOW! Your makeup is so beautiful! That green is perfect with your eyes. Just ordered my first Thrive mascara and lipstick so checking reviews. Thanks or the great video!
