My mom was an functioning alcoholic for most of my life until she developed cirrhosis. This mom is more than likely an alcoholic. The redness in her cheeks she speaks about, the slurred and repetitive speech, the strange behavior, these are all indications that she is intoxicated.

Typical for anorexics to want to stay in their child-like body and not grow up. I mean why doesn't she move out on her own? She's like 22-23 no? And makes loads of money from YT, but still can't live like an adult... it's so sad.

It’s very weird. At her age I had my own place, a job, car, my own pets, a boyfriend I lived with. She has a bedroom of a 6 year old with pink walls, princess decor and teddies. Her clothes are child like as well. I think sadly her anorexia has hindered her growth and hormones. It’s unlikely she ever got a period which is why she doesn’t have boobs, hips, ass etc either. She has a body of a child and the same mentality. She needs to go to hospital.

I think this is part of anorexia. Some really good therapy would definitely help her. I think she was bullied in her teen years and all of this is kind of a consequence and a coping mechanism. It's so easy to judge her mom. You can't know what's going on behind the scenes. Dealing with such an extreme case of eating disorder is not simple at all. Nobody is ready for that except psychologists. If you force her to get help you can aggravate her case if it's not done wisely. I'm pretty sure her mom is very stressed, sad, and tries her best to protect her daughter from this terrible problem. I feel like she is trying to not pressure her daughter more, since the whole internet is already doing it (and that's really toxic). People still continue to warn Eugenia or to be hateful towards her, but they still haven't noticed that it never worked and it never will it seems. That's not their role to fix her problem, she has to fix it herself with the help of her loved ones. Let's just wish they'll be out of this hell one day instead of telling bullshit without knowing.

Yeah, but here's the thing on that. Eugenia is 24 years old, an adult. Her mom cannot put her in a treatment center against her will. She would have to go through a legal process to have Eugenia declared mentally unfit to make her own decisions. At this point, her mom could call an ambulance and if Eugenia said she didn't want medical treatment, legally they could not give her medical treatment. If her mom was going to do anything, it should have been done years ago before she turned 18. And I think as we've all seen, although she was very thin 5 years ago, she wasn't THIS bad. So maybe they just thought things would get better, who knows.

It looks like her mom is in denial about something else and this is how Eugenia is protesting against it in this terrible way. Fuck they act like everything's beautiful. Lindsey Funke I'm sure medical people have already tried to help her. She said something about her doctor not thinking there's anything wrong with her. If that was actually true then that doctor would be in serious legal trouble. I think she's just lying. She refused to go on Dr Phil show, she probably does that whenever someone tries to help her.

I used to think the same. How can her mother allow this?! But the psychology of eating disorders are quite similar to drug/alcohol addiction. Eugenia's mother is probably very codependent with her, and a codependency relationship with someone who's an addict or has an eating disorder is almost like an addiction in its own right. Those who love and live with an addict desperately try to make things better, but often fail due to the strong hold of the disease. Codependents of someone with this disease often develop their own addiction - to drugs or alcohol (which may be indicative by how her mother seems under the influence), and even with their loved one who is sick. I used to think her mother was some kind of monster, but honestly, I don't know anymore. She looks so sad, like she's got no other options and she doesn't know how to seek help. Its a very twisted relationship between an addict and codependent. They both need help, and they need it desperately. (In saying this, I am not a psychologist nor an addiction specialist. I've, apparently, seen the show Intervention too many times. Speaking of, we all should contact the producers of the show. See if they have any insight on what could be going on here.)

@Allison 11 Yep. Just like an addict, they're in control of their disease, no one else can force them to do anything. Her mom's hands are tied in that respect. However, even though she can't force Eugenia to get help, she's gotta stop enabling it.

Definitely. Thats not to say that she's necessarily in the wrong, though. Enablers sometimes don't even know they're doing it, or don't know how to stop. She's enabling Eugenia simply by being in her videos, by allowing her to live in the same house...etc. It's not that her mom doesn't care, or doesn't care to intervene, her mom doesn't know how. One thing to understand is that codependents/enablers don't do what they do out of complacency, they do it out of love, compassion, and because they don't any other way.

People with autism do not make eye contact, and they come off as socially awkward and distant and they sometimes say things that typical people consider to be inappropriate. None of us know if her mother has tried getting her help. There isn’t much she can do because it’s up to Eugenia to accept the help she clearly needs but like the majority of people with eating disorders they’re so far in denial they don’t see anything wrong with what they’re doing to their body. The mum may now not know what to do. She may have tried many times to get her to get help, may have even got her daughter in a clinic but, nothing can really stop an anorexic apart from themselves as once out of the clinic they start starving again. That is why anorexia kills more teenagers than any other mental health issue today. If you look closely, the mum actually doesn't even look very happy with her daughter in this video, she looks strained and barely looks at her which hints something is very amiss underneath with her emotions - it is all very, very tragic - I can't help but think Eugenia is going to end up yet another statistic of death caused by this god awful illness 🤔

Tbh i really think that her mother should be blamed. She most of the time doesn't feel interested in being in her videos. Why is it that in 80% of her videos she is showing off her body and also, why does she never ever look at the camera lens (us) and always at herself in the viewfinder. Who else other than Eugenia makes a video of them slowly walking around their backyard throwing a basketball, kicking a football and trying to do a hula hoop, while showing how weak they are and that they dont even have the strength to do these basic things???? (Eugenia did that in a recent video) idk, it just doesn't hit me that Eugenia is innocent, i see her as manipulative and almost seeking some kind of sick attention. But thats just my opinion.
