I shouldn’t read comments because I am appalled at some people’s rudeness 😞 I enjoyed the tour, the history of the house, the narrative of what’s been done and your future plans. You were very kind to give us a glimpse of your personal space, and that’s what it is... personal space for you and your family. Thank you and please know there are plenty of us that thoroughly enjoyed this. Blessings from Newberg, Oregon.

She's on youtube to make money people, so yes you're entitled to feel frustrated and duped that she's advertising a tour of her "farmhouse" and then gives you nothing but closeup shots of her face and a few old things stacked up on counters and shelves. It's a farce. find a channel like My Self Reliance who will actually teach you something.

Pro tip from someone who sanded cathedral ceiling timbers for an entire summer and only got through my bedroom in my mountain home. Sand the beams and at least white or dark wax them before you install them. Spiders and cobwebs cannot be removed from unfinished actual rough-hewn wood. Brush bristles, microfiber other cloth bits get stuck and a vacuum doesn't work especially with the debris from a wood stove over time. If you are interested, I can send you pics of how I made the cottage/cabin look functional.

That is what I was thinking, as well...her husband can't take his eyes off her, which is sweet. Maybe more of a "tour" next time! But I love that her home looks original and authentically theirs...no white, silver, and gray ubiquity, here! (I like that look, too).

Do not understand so many people demanding more b-roll. A home is very personal, to get a look through is a privilege. Just because you have a RU-vid channel doesn't mean you need to go through the recycling bin piece by piece haha. I love the whole feel of your home, it is warm and cosy rebellion to the minimalist, decluttering cult.

I was waiting for before/after stills at the end because you never showed any room in it's entirety. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to show the whole room you could explain that to the audience, I'm sure. We would understand. But when you talk about the beautiful wood of the floor and then don't show it, it's quite frustrating.

There is a trend in America to sterilize the whole house. Home after home decorated with mass produced 'country' decor. No imagination goes into that. Your house is beautiful and reflects all the things you love and have gathered over time, so pretty. We have the same taste, I love crusty old things too :) I love your fireplace and windows. Thank you for showing what a farmhouse really looked/looks like. It reminds me very much of my grandparents old farmhouse. Seven generations of my family have lived in that house and no one ever painted the whole thing white inside and out. This new "farmhouse" decor style blows my mind. Your home is a more authentic farmhouse. Very much enjoyed seeing your home. I remember going down to the "ice room" to get ice chips to make homemade ice cream in a hand crank ice cream maker.

I can imagine that when you entertain friends & family they leave with full tummies and full minds from the good conversations they've had from your home. You refer to your furnishings as crusty, which I never had heard before. What a treat it's been to tour your farmhouse/cottage. This video is exactly what your home, not just house, shows in the right way. I am always a little surprised when I see dining rooms that are never used. For me your home is exactly used as I know it... all the gathering in the dining room, no meal that is not eaten sitting around the table and no TV during the meals. A sitting room where you want to sit and enjoy company or take a breath and relax. No need for walkable closets because no one can ever wear all the stuff. A shared bathroom because we are a family and it’s a good thing to learn and accept different needs for privacy. Thank you for sharing (please excuse my rubbish English, but after reading some comments I had to say something) Frauke

My eyes and heart want to glaze and feast on every single, lovely, lovelies that you have lovingly furnished your home with. The walls and floors, the old painted doors and knobs, clawfoot bathtub, etc. have so much character and charm. Our home has similar style and I have filled ours with lovely old treasures passed on to us, and lovingly gathered from estate sales and garage sales we have scoured for many years now. I am so happy to see younger couples that appreciate and embrace this (Your individual) style of making a house a home.

10:35 our house was built in the 1930s so I very much understand what you mean by "unAmerican" per these days. Small rooms, tinier closets. At first I found it very frustrating and wrestled with it. But then as we have started, and continued, our minimalist journey, it has quickly become one of my favorite features about the house. I am grateful that as I've downsized, the room does not lose coziness nor become echoey and vacuum-like. It's nice to have my little "time machine" that brings me back to a simpler way ^-^

I love, love, love your show! I work in, what can be, a high stress work environment. I began watching your show on my lunch break, and it helps me totally decompress. The music, the lighting, your calming voice all play a part in my beginning the second part of my day refreshed. Not to mention, I love the content. You have really motivated me to get out of my recliner on the weekends and get busy. Thank you!

I absolutely love your cottage. So charming. And as much as I love all the charming things in it, my stress level goes out of the roof when I think about the maintenance of keeping all that dusted, wiped down and polishing the copper(which I love). I am not a very good housekeeper, I would have cobwebs hanging from everything and telling myself it is part of the look I am going for. lol Your place is wonderful and my hat is off to you caring for all of that.

I think I got the feel of the place, which is quite a throw back from where you started and very charming. It was tricky to determine the overall room, more just snippets. I would have loved more long shots and side by side before and after's, like the still you did with the bathroom. Quite a transformation.

These comments are horrible!!! You didn't have to show us your house at all and they are being greedy wanting to see every corner! You have a right to some privacy and only show us what you want. Loved the tour, your house is beautiful

I just love your eye, and sense of style. You are the most "Old World European, American" I know. :) Stuart, I applaud all of your efforts, I know where the heavy work comes in! Hope you enjoyed your recent trip back to Fairhope! Such a beautiful and unique town! We're harvesting full speed and getting the "middle crops" in, back here in Alabama. Hope you have a bountiful harvest as well!

I had to stop at just a few moments into the video! A Charlotte Mason book 😮❤️❤️❤️ I’m so excited to see that book. We homeschool using CM style as well. No wonder you life is so beautiful! We are still working on to make our farmhouse beautiful.

So nice to see a hone that is personal. Too many homes today are just made to be kept perfectly clean and keep up with someone else's idea of cool. You will not win everyone over with your style but your greatest fans will love it. Be you!

For the kitchen floor, you could fill in the gaps with a filler or putty. Makes cleaning so much easier. We had a lovely old Dutch colonial that had the original floors that had been filled in and finished, so there were no splinters and cleaning was easy.

i wish you would show your painted floor ( i have done the same in our summer cottage) & fireplace as it is now (looks great) & ceiling chandeliers, love the bit of glam with the rustic-very cool, etc...we are missing all the little details of your lovely home. i will however never give up my walk in closet (it use to be a 3rd bedroom) lol.

I didn’t have a problem with what y’all say (the lack of good overall filming.) It seems the young man is doing the camera work and he captures a lot of nice shots. Also he’s proud of his precious wife and they are just terrific and perfect together. God bless you and your family. (Old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸

love it! So much character that you have carved back in to the house. I am closing on my great grandmother's house and 15 acre farm in July and started an Instagram. we live in se usa and I'm happy to say we have a root cellar, but it is no where as lovely as yours. You have inspired me to add some dry herbs and spruce it up a bit. the house was built in 1930 and I love the old character of it. We are planning on redoing the kitchen (it was last done in the 70's) and adding back in a black and copper elmirastoveworks stove and farm copper sink. You and parisiennefarm have inspired me on the copper. So pretty. We are also dialing back the clock. We are keeping all the character that is still in part of the house like the tongue and groove original ceilings, the French doors in 2 places in the house, all the glass knobs, and the 6 panel solid wood doors. I fell back in love with this house when we were cleaning it out once my great aunt passed away. If interested in seeing our progress on house and farm, feel free to follow us over at Instagram at semperfifarm

Was the shot of the blue sofa the living rm? You showed a lot of vignettes, (charming) but not a wide shot of the living rm. If you have a low ceiling, adding beams will make it seem lower. Couldn’t really see the bedroom either, but I’m sure it’s very pretty.

Maybe hide a laundry shoot where ever just above the laundry room would be upstairs and hide it with an old picture or something, might be kind of nice. Kids will have more fun throwing it in there (equalling cleaner rooms and less work for you). I am glad you showed a lot of your collected treasures, however, i too would love maybe even a pan around the room when you all were done talking about it (floors to ceiling). Love the feel of your house!

Premiered Jun 6, 2019 Farmhouse Tour ~ observing your bookcase with the painting of the elderly gentleman with folded hands and his thoughtful moment , I am smiling because our grandfather had a similar painting and as a child I was always asking him about the spilled milk running off the table. My favorite question for my grandfather was " are you the man in our painting?"

So fun seeing your home! Thank you for touring with us . It truly feels like stepping back in time, to see the aesthetic you have at your place. There's such a move toward minimalism right now, and while I feel more peaceful not buried in useless clutter, we also live and school and raise our kids in our home, and there's going to be that lived in feel... I can't minimize everything out of existence 😄 would have liked some more zoomed out shots of how your home was laid out, especially kitchen and walk in fridge, for practical purposes, FYI. But thank you again, you have a lovely and unique home!

I love your home. So refreshing after seeing so many cookie cutter house decors, done in sterile white. Even books are painted or turned backwards to fit in the scheme! Blasphemy! I’d like to visit, have a coffee and tour the gardens. I suspect I’d be treated like a neighbor.
