I flew on American Eagle from El Paso to Phoenix, and the gate agent forced me to switch seats to accommodate a 2 year old. Can airlines actually do that? It was a huge downgrade because the new window seat I got, the shade was broken and would not lift. It happened without any warning too and my name was paged to get a new boarding pass.
@sla31
@sla31 3 года назад
Yes, they can do that. Every airline has a "contract of carriage" that you agree to when you purchase a ticket. It basically says that they cannot guarantee any seat, even if pre-selected, and they reserve the right to move anyone for any reason. Now, most of the time, gate agents will try to avoid situations like this to keep passengers happy. But they can do it without notice. I've had this happen before without any notice at all. I'm boarding and they hand me a new boarding pass... In fact, it happened to me on a CRJ-900 recently where I was moved to row 9, which doesn't even have a window. Bottom line, yes, they can do it. But, if you complain about it to their customer service, they'll usually give you some miles or a voucher for the inconvenience.

@@sla31 I've thought about filing a complaint. I wonder if it's worth it. I ended up getting a terrible video because of the switch. I shared a window with someone else. The guy kept looking at me, but did not say anything. I had a small portion of the window in front of me, so I filmed with that small portion. Bad videos, but I got something. But I'm returning to ELP in less than 2 weeks to retake that flight.

As someone who has lived near Oklahoma for the last 26 years, I often find people remarking similar things when they see videos in and out of Tulsa. I live just north of the Oklahoma border in Kansas, near Joplin Missouri. It's about an 8 minute drive to cross the border. This area, and in particular the area around Tulsa to the northeastern part of the state is collectively known as "green country." Since for big portions of the year, the area is just like this. Very green and lush. This part of the country obviously has a lot of farmland, and very little of it actually irrigated, because we typically get plenty of rain during the spring and summer to make it not necessary. Anyway, thanks for watching my friend!

@thecaynuck4694
@thecaynuck4694 3 года назад
I mean, windows in planes are planned to be phased out in the future, so not a big deal if they're aligned or not. Depends on the way the airline configures the aircraft.

0:41. Are the arm rests adjustable on the seats?
@sla31
@sla31 4 месяца назад
They're adjustable in the sense that they can move up and down. But since they swing up at the base, there is no in-between. It's all the way down, or pushed all the way up even with the seat.

On landing,the pilot seemed to rely more on the brakes than reverse thrust--the braking sound would worry any one of us if this were occurring in our vehicles! I have seen YT vids where during taxiing to/from a runway,the pilot seemingly uses,at a low speed,reverse thrust for braking--the window alignment on a -900 isn't favorable for filming,one would have to lean forward to do so
@sla31

You’re definitely right. There is a reason why you don’t see many CRJ flights on my channel. Their window alignment makes filming incredibly annoying.

Wait American eagle is an operation by as American airlines or .....?
@sla31
@sla31 3 года назад
American Eagle is a brand that American Airlines owns. The flights you see on American Eagle are not always operated by a company that American Airlines owns. And since 2014, American Eagle Airlines hasn't technically been a stand alone airline. It gets kind of complicated, but I'll do the best I can to sum it up. Up until 2014 there was an airline called American Eagle Airlines. It was owned by American Airlines and flew a lot of the American Eagle flights. However, as the industry changed, and American started contracting with more carriers to fly under the American Eagle brand, American deiced to change American Eagle Airlines name to Envoy Air. They did this to avoid confusion. At this time, there were over 10 different airlines flying American Eagle flights. You had Mesa Airlines, Compass Airlines, ExpressJet, SkyWest, Piedmont, PSA, and others. That's when you see American Eagle (Operated by Mesa Airlines). Well, it was getting a bit confusing to see American Eagle (Operated by American Eagle Airlines). So, the original American Eagle, that is still owned by American today, was renamed Envoy Air. Today, American Airlines owns Envoy Air, Piedmont Airlines, and PSA Airlines. The other carriers that fly the American Eagle brand, like Mesa and SkyWest, aren't owned by American. They are independent airlines that are flying under contract for American Airlines under the American Eagle brand.

The pilot in command had done 2 pilot error. Before takeoff and before Landing FAA Law said that pilot in command most advise Flight Attendant to prepare for takeoff or Landing at all time .
@thecaynuck4694
@thecaynuck4694 3 года назад
That's not always done over the PA. Also, that's not what pilot error is. Pilot error is more used in potentially dangerous situations regarding aircraft, it's used in crash reports, less so in simple things like what you describe.
@erauprcwa
@erauprcwa 3 года назад
That's not a pilot error. Also, it's not the PIC who makes those calls with this airline... The first officer makes the announcement, which can be done via the call system on the CRJ-900. "Advise" doesn't have to be done over the PA for passengers to hear. At 9:45 you can hear the FIRST OFFICER state "flight attendants please be seated" and then a chime. The chime was the FO calling the lead flight attendant to verify they're all seated and secure. at 42:00 there's a chime and then the flight attendant makes her 'in range' announcement. So, all policies and procedures were followed to the FAA standard.

@@astroknott5263 Uh no... Everything was advised. If people paid attention, they'd see that at 9:45 and 42:00 the flight attendants were advised. It's in the checklist to advise at certain points. Mesa is no different than any other airline. Be reminded, Mesa isn't being investigated by the FAA right now due to safety concerns, that would be Envoy. With that being said, every airline has issues. PSA had to be grounded due to maintenance issues with the nose gear to their CRJ's a few months ago.
