You should spend more time researching, and being more informed on a subject matter, before making uneducated comments about it.

This is actually super common in academia, generally the more technical and lab obsessed someone is, the less likely they are to flaunt their advanced degrees, it is almost considered gaudy. And if they don't(or say can't as Egon likely cannot) teach undergrads much there is less of a need to flaunt it for younger students to maintain discipline. If one works only in research or with grad students they may even forget about the fact they have an advanced degree as something special because everyone they are around all the time has one. There is a very practical reason for this too, as in the more technical and applied sciences there is a much higher chance of working with peers who do not have doctorate or advanced degrees. You will similarly see those with military ranks not use them much when in such research collaborations for a similar reason, and corporate engineers will likely refrain from using an inflated job title. On the other hand, academics who work more with undergraduates or work in more approachable fields(like say Literature) rightfully are a bit stricter about credentials to avoid things from falling off the rails.
