What a beautiful very well behaved Giant! My husband and I have a Giant Schnauzer and he is the best dog. He's funny and very playful and is such a cuddly love bug. He's a 110# lap dog.
Can't thank you enough for this video...I've been grooming since I was a teen on family schnauzers and soft coated wheatens... finally got a giant a year ago and this video is the best for showing the proper way to groom giants...(as you know not the same as mini's). Definitely gotta get "chunkers" and consider moving to a #40 blade...have always gotten by with a #10. Thank you again so much, your work is beautiful and your tutorial very helpful...I'm sure your views on this video will go through the roof as I use it numerous times as a reference repeatedly 😁
@@enomisaura I think I'll get one with cropped ears. The natural one seems too floppy for me. I had a spaniel before and the floppy ears just for me :)
Get one. I've had 2 and they're awesome dogs. Mine's with me 24/7, even at work and she's my best friend. Great guard dog but friendly with kids, and adults if I tell her they're ok. She loves to work, very intelligent. Maggie's 8, I wanted cropped ears but at the time none of our local vets would do it, saying it's inhumane. But they will now as they realized ear infections and mites are REAL. Makes me so mad😏 But you won't regret getting a Giant, good luck!
@@enomisauraplease don’t crop their ears or tail. I agree it looks super cool! But there’s no reason for it. They are just in pain and without a body part purely for looks and it should be illegal. If you want to obviously I can’t stop you but I hope that you listen to me :)
Thank you so much, I rewatch before every clip for the head and sanitary areas. Not using a table and clipping feet on the floor is killing my back 😂😂😂.
Love watching you groom these beautiful dogs. I had 2 and miss them so much. If I was younger I’d get another. So I just watch you and remember them fondly!! ❤️❤️❤️
Omg this video should be taught to students in schools!!! How friggin informative and well explained was that ❤❤❤. Could you please post that photo of the line you were talking about for the eyebrows ❤
Thank you so much! Doing this today with my soft coat giant!! orange brush brand? What thinners do you recommend? Also, I have a hard coat female her hair at elbows have turned white/red..what product do you recommend for show help with that? Again…THANK YOU!
What a good lookin' big boy! I'm keepin' my girl away from YOU, sonny...Don't need any surprises 'round here🤣 Def appreciate you making this tutorial. Grooming tools and clippers came in today and Maggie is overdue. Gonna make my girl all gorgeous again.
He looks fantastic. ❤️. We are picking up our pup on Saturday. She will be 8 weeks then. When do you suggest getting her on the table? I have a small setup I used for my Yorkies I wonder how long my giant is going to fit on their small table being she is already bigger at 8 weeks old. Just figured I should start early?
The earlier the better. Getting them used to being on the table, brushing, handling, body manipulation, nails, etc. I start my guys off on the table a few times a week for 5-10 minutes at a time. My dogs are show dogs, so being groomed and on the table is a big part of their life and they always beat me to the table when it’s grooming time, LOL.
@@shainalafleur8775 thank you so much! So it’s going well ! I was able to do a sanitary cut she was great. I am definitely going to need that large table lol. Thanks again
There are none. The hair will grow back. This guy has gotten many shorter maintenance shaves prior to this video as an example. If the hair doesn’t grow back then the dog needs to see a vet as there are underlying medical issues.
No. It’s very rare to find a professional groomer that will teach a client/pet owner how to groom their own dog. I teach private lessons here in Texas.
@@shainalafleur8775Where are you located in Texas. I live in West Texas and I would love to come to you to teach me. Or better yet, just pay you to do my girl!! I have a GS P/S with a soft under coat and wirey top coat. LOVE, LOVE your very informative video! Very well explained!
I think these dogs are so beautiful. But I read that they are not a dog you can take to the dog park because they have a tendency to fight with other dogs they don’t know. Is this true? Anybody on here know what their personality is like. I would like a dog to hike with for protection.
@@Toltecgrl Dog parks in general are a bad idea. Working breeds like the Giant are prone to being same sex aggressive or not dog friendly, so group play is not a good idea. Parks are usually full of under-socialized and over stimulated dogs that are not watched properly to prevent incidences. Dogs do not have to be dog friendly to live a fulfilling life, only dog neutral in appropriate scenarios.
@@shainalafleur8775 it was an example somebody gave on a video. I don’t take my German Shepherd to dog parks because of disease. But I was curious what the disposition was of a Schnauzer. My German Shepherd is an old fellow now he can’t hike with me anymore. So I was looking at the schnauzer as a possibility. Thank you for your response!
@@Toltecgrl Their temperament is that of a working dog. Guard dog like nature, aloof and suspicious of strangers, super loyal to family, but VERY high training and grooming maintenance. I have more info on my TikTok @theweirddoggirl
Every 6 months is FAR too infrequent for any dog that requires grooming. That’s asking for a very poorly behaved dog, health issues associated with neglect, and painful twice a year shave downs. Any high maintenance breed should be groomed every 4-8 weeks depending on length given. My personal dogs (including this guy) are bathed at least once a week and groomed every 3-6 weeks.
Would you happen to know any groomers in Georgia who will groom a GS similar to how you do it? Thanks. (I had an argument with a local groomer who wanted to groom my GS similar to a mini and add a skirt.)
None of the 3 breeds of Schnauzers have skirts. It’s called an underline. It sounds like that groomer isn’t properly educated on the correct schnauzer pattern. I’d find one that is knowledgeable.
We should get together sometime. Nothing too serious; just have a few drinks - let go of our inhibitions, try something silly, like give marriage a shot.. I’m sure we’d enjoy it, and I’d love to call you my ex wife someday. Seriously - giant schnauzer grooming hall of fame. Not only for your talents - but for your understanding of the groom and the reasoning behind each and every aspect.
I just have to lol a little. She cut every piece of hair on this boy's body significantly. For sure a Full groom. Not sure what you were hoping for. He's just not mostly naked, because she grooms him often.
@@shainalafleur8775 Love your work, I am getting a schnauzer /Doberman Mix. never been groomed and was interested in your advice since she never been groomed
