I cried a little at the end of the video. I've had dreams of building my own guitar for years. I'm a silversmith these days but still plan to build my own guitar. When you threw that pick is when I shed a couple of tears. Congratulations.

This was an awesome video. To watch it and get rewarded with the face expression when you hit the strings for the first time; oh man, I've never build a guitar but I do have some experience with when the result far exceeds your own expectations. Congratulations with the build. The guitar sounds and looks awesome.👍🏻😊

Hey Man, I dont know how long ago you finished this, but it was absolutely amazing work, and I bet that feeling you got when you first played it and was thrilled with the sound will stay with you forever! It was hard to believe you did all this with at least two little kids. I am just starting my first build, (O'Brien kit) and a lot of what you did in the video answered questions I had. I may hunt you down and see if you would be willing too be an advisor for me ( paid of course) while I struggle through this first build. Thanks for a fantastic video! Your guitar sounds incredible. I hope I am half as succesful. Great job!
@CMRWoodworks
@CMRWoodworks Год назад
Thanks man! I finished it around April this year 2022. This video was actually a compilation of all the non-talking parts of a 17-part series that I made on this build (look back in my video list to find them). So it may be helpful to watch each part as you come to that section of you build and you can hear me talk about the challenges I faces and decisions I made at each step. Of course, Robbie’s course itself is great, but there were still a lot of questions I had which I kind of work through in the my build series. Of course, I’ll help answer any other questions you have too! Oh, and I have 4 kids! Good luck with your build. Stick with it and just work through any issues and by the end, you will look back in amazement and think about how much you were able to accomplish. I did, anyway. Now I’m finishing up my second guitar and already working on my third!

Loved the video! You’re so talented. You should leave a song as a deep melody and don’t take the part when your kids are talking or making “noise” cause it brings a special atmosphere to the beauty and nature of what an acoustic guitar construction represents!! Amazing!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This video spans one and a half years and I guess cutting out all of the talking parts does make it appear I’ve done it before, haha. But if you watch the full 17 part series (from which this video came), you’ll hear me talk about all of the struggles and errors I made and was trying to figure out. I had already been woodworking for 8 years so I already had some of the typical woodworking tools, but probably 75% of the tools or jigs you see in the video I bought over that 1.5 years building the guitar for the specific purpose of building the guitar. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@MrHeliosoul
@MrHeliosoul 2 года назад
Yes thank you, I'll be watching that whole 17 part series my friend. I definitely could tell it's not the first time that you've cut and glued wood together. I've been thinking about trying to build my own acoustic guitar for the last 2 years so I've been paying attention to people building guitars on RU-vid for sometime. I must say you have a knack for it to say the least. Much gratitude for posting these videos.

Yes on the kids making fun noises. It brings me back to a time when my Dad used to be in the basement building wooden boats and we would be running around on the floor above. He would always grab a stick and rap it on the floor boards " Hey what the heck is going on up there" ? It wasn't till years later that I found out what that was like when you are doing some fine skilled joints. Such good memories of childhood though watching and sometimes helping my Dad build boats. The first cedar canoe I built seemed to take me forever and there was a few bloopers at that with bad resin at the time. Cheers

I just finished my first guitar last evening.... No , it didnt look like this guys...... but when I saw the forms and tools this guy has I realized partially why. My guitar plays well though... and cost a total of $23 oo ! Look into how many guitars are built today.... using cheap but not garbage wood. I grabbed a piece of 1/8" paneling off of an old shipping package , and with an old bed that someone had thrown outfor a neck. Not caring about design inputs in the norm I did some nice hole work. Cant inlay worth a s%^$ I ground to a powder some MOP beads and epoxied it into the perimeter of the sound holes. The most amazing thing I accomplished though was learning what NOT to do. LOL That was my main goal for this first attempt. You know.... it looks pretty good.... it plays pretty well and it gave me enough that I will build myself another.... I have 30 or so videos already of things I have built. hhhmmmmm should try to cover my first guitar build....Thanks

It seems you have good amount of experience for a first guitar build. I actually watched your third one first. My goal is to eventually build at least one acoustic guitar, but hopefully more. I have started with studying many videos like yours, Rosa String Works, twoodford, etc. Working now on a Ukulele kit (so far the body is assembled) and plan to work my way up to a full scratch build. Did you do something similiar? Any recommendations? Either way, very nice.

How were you able to build a guitar with such an amazing helper? I would have been playing with/watching her mind work the entire time!

There are 2 of the small helpers (twins)! They enjoy being in the garage while I work. Sometimes I’ll give them a clamp a piece of scrap wood and some sandpaper. One of the twins enjoys it more than the other. Anyway, though, I play with them plenty!
