I thought ACFC played pretty well. But unfortunately playing "pretty well" won't get you far against the likes of the Chiefs in the NWSL right now. Claire Emslie is ACFC's entire offense which is not good at all. Alyssa Thompson right now isn't living up to the No. 1 pick she was from last year. As for KC, good lord they are a LOAD to deal with. The forwards are already tough enough, but that midfield is SCARY especially with Debinha back now.
Well, Kansas City is now the team to beat. they are the best team right now. Here is when tactics and coaches make their money. a) I you are the lesser team would you attack them boldly... and pay the price? b) Would you sit back (park the bus) and hit them back in a fast counterattack...do you have two fast attackers to do it? c) Cloud the midfield and brawl there. d) or just throw the towel?
They won’t. Vlatko isn’t a great adjuster. He has a plan A and that’s it. It’s just right now plan A is working for the Current. If ACFC would have had a stronger forward presence this game may have ended differently. But they have a lot of young talent (Angel City) that just need to grow more into the league. Love Sidney Leroux but I think she’s lost some pace and A Thompson needs to use her teammates more vs just trying to blow by people. If the rest of the league watched this game, ACFC just gave the blueprint on how to beat the Current. Angel City just wasn’t deep enough to pull it off. Now, the Washington Spirit, however, is a different animal.
He’s not a great adjuster yet it was his halftime adjustments that won the game. They made changes at half to get back in and more when Bia went out that led to the last 2 goals.
@@taylorhenricks2203 DiBernardo's goal was great, and Current played better in 2nd half, but that was on ACFC's own questionable subbing or not subbing. And the last 2 goals were pure luck, Lavogez is not that good anymore or she would be a starter (now this is a good use of a past prime star that anyone with a brain would do, not bc Vlatko is a genius)
Really like KC right abt now - dynamic and free-wheeling on the counter...and I live in Thorns territory. They are fun to watch when they're clicking...and this was an away game
DiBernardo is very good, but that wasn't a rocket, lovely goal that bent down perfectly even I wanted to blame keeper I couldn't. And not a fan of Lauren James' antics, but she is absolutely powerful and supremely world class, like the Zlatan of women football, can definitely launch rockets.
What the hell is going on with your marketing or video department? You had a trend of showing plays/fouls in the wrong order or not at all. Now you don't even show the lineups or the kickoff and you end the video long before the final whistle blows. Wtf are yall doing?
On a different note, there's a certain user here who likes typing his posts in bold and stating how such and such player - usually a non-white - should never be called up to USWNT because she's useless, and those players keep putting him to shame such as Franch with some outstanding saves at the start of this game
*Franch is good at the local league level; however, at the international level, she usually chokes. The last time was at the Tokyo Olympics. There was another time playing against England when she committed such a mental error that cost the USA the match. The USA defender kicked the ball to her and Franch grabbed the ball with her hands. This mistake cost the match to the USWNT. I also criticized Alex Morgan, who is not good for the USA at this point. So, be more objective and do not play the race card.*
@@justafan323 you could be right, i only saw these highlights yet. - BUT, in that vid some real basic failures are to be seen. Hence the substantial loss in only 45 mins.
This result does`nt surprise me. The KC Current have been very powerful and awesome games latetly and they ended up taking advantage of Angel City`s main weakness and that is that they leave to many holes open and are not aggressive enough.
