The extra holes in the skimmer are for attaching the outside skimmer to a pool with metal walls and/or attach a wide mouth opening. You'll use the buttonhead screws for that, but you don't use that when you got a soft liner. Stop cutting the gasket in to two pieces. It's a double gasket for a reason and since you have drained your pool, you didn't have to cut it at all.

The reason there are so many screw holes is because that skimmer basket is also used for their wide mouth. Cut the two suction lines out and cover inside and out with liner patches. You're supposed to stand IN the pool to install this so you can use your foot to slightly hold the liner very taught while you screw everything together, and then also while you cut(AFTER you've screwed the skimmer together). You're also supposed to use an ahl to punch the screwholes. Punch the hole, place the screw, screw into the filter basket(outside). Punch next hole with ahl, etc. And you punch these holes in the same pattern type as you would work lug nuts. I also didn't cut my gasket. I took everything off after creating the screw holes and placed the gasket the way it was intended to be. It just made more sense to me. And honestly, I replaced the Intex inlet with the Hayward eyeball. It fits the Intex hole and the valve perfectly. You'll just need another gasket or two between the Hayward fitting and the Intex valve. I have two gaskets on mine. Put the Hayward hose adapter into the inlet from the outside, and use it to help get leverage while you tighten the nut on the inlet. Then unscrew it, put two gaskets on, screw on the valve. The aeration action of the Intex inlet actually increases pH of the water and that keeps the water balance off. And the Intex can't be pointed adequately at the bottom of the pool. It also sticks out to far and the kids kept bumping it and getting hurt on it. Now you need the color-changing sidewall pool lights that Intex has. But, do NOT pay the INSANE price they're listed at on Amazon. Try to find them on ebay and don't pay more than 40-50 each. And I think even that is too much.
Yea I’m not sure why but a lot of people think you have to cut the gasket. You only need to cut the gasket if you’re installing it with the water level at where the skimmer will be. If the water level is below the skimmer you don’t have to cut the gasket.
You don't need to be inside the pool to install the skimmer... Cutting out the two suction lines is highly unnecessary, just plug them up. Intex includes two plugs for them. Work smarter, not harder.
Dude, you tuned off comments in the fix. When the pool is empty, get in with sneakers on. Face the outside, grab the too rail, and hop-kick the liner out. Walk a few feet, do it again. Keep going all the way around. Fill it about an inch and repeat the process until all the wrinkles are out. Then go around the outside with a level and plumb sides and front of all legs. Do this several times during fill until you can't move the legs anymore. Your pavers MUST be buried. Adjust the Paver height until they are all level. Cover with a good tarp. The pool will rub against those pavers and you'll get a hole. If your skimmer is installed correctly, theres no need for a sealant.
That gasket just my two cents should have temporarily put the inside mounting plate and mock mounted the skimmer to cut out the hole that way you could put the gasket in the way it was supposed to be in I've seen other people do it just like you did by splitting the gasket and it causes leaks.
You would NEVER clamp off the outlets. A little research would have uncovered the INTEX 1.25" to 1.5" Type B Hose Adapters. These adaptors slip into the outlet sleeves and are clamped down. You can then install the plunger valves and have a way to turn off the inlets of your choosing. Why a 'pool' guy would recommend a 1" hose is beyond me.
It's easy, but I'd highly recommend watching another how-to or going to troublefreepool.com for a tutorial. This guy didn't do a bad job, it just wasn't done quite correctly.
Negative, if you go to my fixing my mistakes video, I have the plugs linked in the description. Also, watch toward the end of that video because the plugs leaked a tad. You can see how I filled the hole so it wouldn’t leak at all.
Your not supposed to cut the gasket. Drain the pool lower than the hole your cutting, use the plastic as a template and draw round it, cut out then instal the gasket the rest is self explanatory 👍😉
When you trace around the template, make sure it's around the INSIDE and NOT the outside. If you trace around the outside, the hole is going to be bigger than the gasket, and then you'll have a useless pool liner with a gigantic hole in it that you'll have to replace.
this is like hte 3rd video the said to cut the gasket in half i just put a skimmer on my bestway pool and i DID NOT cut my gasket in half as it is made to go on in one pice
Hi, you should have something pulling water from the wall. So with the skimmer cleaning the surface you should have an outlet that will suck water from the middle. Maybe use one of the outlets that are now not in use and somehow connect it with the skimmer to the pump.
But for what reason? Legit question… everything is running great, water flow is better now than when I was was running from two outlets. I just don’t see the need to pull from two places.
@@BigCountrysWay I’m not a pro, and don’t think everything I say is 100% true but I just think when it pulls from two different places it mixes the water better. Monitor your pool at heavy usage, with a lot of people in sun and heat and check if skimmer is doing everything or there’s need for another outlet.

@@croatiaoutlander5626 after having a bunch of people in the pool, it seems just having the skimmer intake is plenty good enough. I even get in it after cutting grass sometimes lol it keeps everything nice and clean!
Have you tried the game conversion kit on the bottom of the skimmer and connect to the intex hoses? I seen it work on hayward skimmers and might of been easier.
i think mine is 2800gph. but if you only use one water inlet (only a skimmer) you should have plenty of flow. Im assuming you have a smaller pool than mine with that size pump so everything should be evened out regarding flow and having a skimmer.
Great videos. After installing the new skimmer and plugging the other two intakes, did you notice any pressure/suction issues. I have a skimmer like you used to have, and I have a solar pad. With the solar pad I find my pump cant create enough suction for my skimmer. Some suggestions were to permanently plug the second intake but I was a bit nervous. Thanks
@@BigCountrysWay If you were able to solve the air issue (when the stopper was inserted) in one of your previous videos with your other style of skimmer, would you have just stuck with that? When you had one of the stoppers in you did say the older skimmer worked pretty well didn't it.
@@paulflogeras2309 man to be honest, the difference between the skimmers is night and day. The old skimmer worked well and if I didn’t have air issues and could plug one hole without issues, I prob would have kept it and moved on with life. After installing this skimmer though, the flow you get is amazing, runs my vacuum great and really gets the water moving when the vacuum isn’t hooked up.
