@@juankarlos2423 Sorry Juan can't take the bait. I'm on that positive vibe man. You're welcome to join me in support of the Asian community. They need all of our support! Once again my Asian family I'm with y'all. Beautiful culture! Beautiful people!
@@juankarlos2423 we are fighting racist hatred, we are not fighting any skin color. Celebrity Trevor Noah used his platform to denounce the murder of 8 Americans, including the 6 Asian American women. Trevor even provides space to donate to CAA nonprofit. CAA is one of the three cofounders of Stop AAPI Hate, a national coalition to address Anti-Asian discrimination.
I'm glad that Olivia and Daniel used their platform because many had no idea what the Asian community has been experiencing. AAPI, Black and Latinx communities have similar struggles and need to unite to stop this.
Thank you Daniel for bringing attention to this important issue. Your informed and compassionate words are a much needed voice in this time . Thank you also for being an Asian American actor that portrays multi-faceted and non-stereotypical roles in your work. Bless you.
@@kj-pz8js All Asians are not attacking Africans and it’s sad that you would think that a South African can not show emotional support and humanity just bec of what SOME Asians are doing in Africa
Thank you Daniel Dae Kim for using your platform to bring attention to this horrendous act and to get others to pay attention and help stop this injustice that is happening all over the World.
Is this really a Congress level event? Wouldn't simply enforcing the already written laws help? Any state can do that. Although this hasn't happened in every state. Asians in Chicago are pretty safe.
My daughter is 13 and Asian. Even before Covid she had many students calling her and her friends raciest things. She even told me these students do it front of teachers as well but the teachers don't do anything about it.
I'm sorry. I remember growing up the only asian kid in school. Teachers are just people. I know some people who are teachers that I can't believe are responsible for other people. When it was raining, as kids we waited in the art wing of my high school for our rides. There was one teacher who would kick the black kids out in the rain, but I and the white kids got to stay dry. I think about that still.
Daniel Dae Kim I remember when you started out in Lost. I loved you from then. It was known that you didn’t speak very much English. Look at you now. So fluent. You speak very well. I’m happy to see you standing up for the Asian American Community. I am so proud to see how far you have come. Not to mention how very handsome you are. Continue to do the work and continue to educate those. Thank you for not being complicit. 🙏🏾♥️ How do I join you with this fight? I stand with you on this. My daughter is half Chinese and Black. My daughter was bullied because of her Asian background during the beginning of the Pandemic. To the point where she came home crying daily. Now she is happy being homeschooled and will not return to in person schooling. As a Black mother to my biracial child it’s heartbreaking. She was teased a lot. 😔
Never thought I would find an asian male actor to look up to as much as bruce lee, until now. stay focus. we support u - many asian brothers are watching u. U are respected. It's hard to understand right now, but these events are a good test for us. There are tough times ahead - i will donate bc ur testimony in congress was quite strategic.
We stand for Asian Americans people including the police officer and military people only the good one... God stand for Asian Americans people too and we pray for it 🙏🙏🙏
Mr. Kim, thank YOU for ur courageous to speak out. We r significant in American history. We fully support u all the way until our law makers DO something.
l'am Asian....we are hardworking people...l'am also a small business owner who paid my tax, created jobs and contributed to my community...so as Asian we need to be treat equal and respect...We are not viruses....
Need to be fair, I believe a huge portion of Americans are logical, reasonable and considerate people whom are not racists or cruel. Those "bad apples" are really making things worse for good American samaritans, setting examples by prosecuting these bad apples could sooth things out and show the world Americans are fair in managing this particular issue.
mental health... Yes. That man definitely needs help; in the end, everyone suffered in the process.. what a tragic series of events, that could have been prevented..
Exactly. Heard 2day that theres a 149% increase in hate crimes against Asian Americans over the same time period that "overall" hate crimes decreased by 7%. Heartening that there's been a decrease against other minorities, but to ur spot-on point about racism being racism: it's not 149% up and 7% down but a 142% increase in hate crimes. All one. his plea to other minorities for support will work if we keep that in mind.
@The Hammer Of God Of course I "care" what do I need to do to prove that I "care"? My sincere condolences for the loss of your elders and members of the Asian community! May 100 Angels escort them into the Kingdom of Heaven.
@The Hammer Of God Its ok Beloved this is the type of reaction that occurs when there is trauma and loss. There is no way to reconcile that type of brutality and lack of humanity. As an African American woman I know that pain all too well. For the record I am truly, truly sorry for your pain. "Mans inhumanity to man knows no bounds"
@@kj-pz8js I'd like to think that he would've agreed that we(Asians),black people, and other minorities r stronger and can affect change together and that hate and violence toward Asians is injustice as well. Fred Hampton (who I kno many white ppl didn't kno about until the movie "Judas and the Black Messiah") understood that people of all backgrounds could fight for a common goal. Banding people 2gether is what really terrifies people, hence the attempts to divide us.
@Nathan Kim The comment is suggesting there be a special provision for crimes against Asians? That's just irrational. They are no different than any other race who gets assaulted.
Thank you Daniel for taking the leed and testifying for those very important bills. I have family in the bay area and they will speak up on your command. I will find a way to testify online and donate. Thank You!
The same stick that hit the black snake also hit the yellow one. That's the reason we need to stand together and be our brothers keepers.. Black people have been crying as a lone voice in the wilderness for over 400 years
I stand by all. White, black, asian, brown. As POC, I hope our shared pain makes us stronger. We cannot afford any more division between our races. Thank You.
Who was in the wilderness with the Israelites? Blkpeople are not snakes. Blkpeople don't need a media sledgehammer campaign being smashed over our heads to prove a lie. This is a DEFLECTION CAMPAIGN.
Great conversation with strong message. I learned so much through this clip. Keep your strong spine my fellow Asians we are flexible but we will not bend.
Thank you Daniel for speaking up for the 1st generation Asian immigrants like me. 'We do not take it for granted, We have to go through the process of citizenship, and choose to be part of this United States.' We made such a choice because we believed in the good of the people in the States and believed in the American dream, and decided to contribute as a citizen to make it a better place. These hate crimes are undermining the foundation of civic and political life in our country.
Daniel, thank you for being the advocate for American Asians. Keep up the good work it goes a long way and it makes a big difference. More Asian Americans need to step up and provide awareness. Really enjoy your role in New Amsterdam and you did the right thing walking away from 5-0. Asian live matter and social justice needs to be across the board for all races. One day, I wish people can ask what is your nationality and replying American should be enough..
DDK speaks so thoughtfully, intelligently and eloquently. When he and Daniel Wu set up a reward to get one of the assailants, that's when the media started paying attention. Some of these assaults in my city. I'm afraid for my parents and my grandpa. He's not allowed on walks anymore. I loved how he explained how transparent the donations work. I feel like for a lot of popular causes, money usually doesn't go where it's supposed to.
Daniel that's good you are letting your voice be heard. And it a dam shame that Asian American being Attacked quite often. Asian American life Matters, One Love,One Heart,Love and Respect we are all Human beings created by God.God Bless everyone as we continueous to pray for our Nation.
AWESOME interview with Daniel Dae Kim. I'm Asian American, yet sadly, I wasn't aware of these violent incidents happening in the AAPI community for the past year until recently (via social media). This is a horrible time for the AAPI community and I'm glad this issue is now being brought to mainstream media. I'm glad my parents and grandparents are not alive to see the horrific violence against elderly Asian Americans. This past year, people's mental health has been challenged by the repercussions of the pandemic, and sadly, I believe brought out the worst in MANY. I think it's about time the AAPI community is seen, heard and recognized.
Historically racism, bigotry against all minorities or anyone is just downright wrong. We need to talk about this more and have discussions over tolerance not just with relation to Asian Americans but everyone in general. It is sadly one of the worst things the Republicans left over with Trumpism and Trump weaponizing the pandemic against Asians. All this makes me feel ashamed and embarrassed of what is going on in the United States. I overall believe we can set better examples and be better then this.
@@Electronic424 the fact that you take statistical fact as a lie shows you are a pathetic waste of carbon. You know nothing and consequently are nothing.
@@joshmiller9783 The msm won't show assaults perpetrated against whites albeit the rare exception as in the recent KOMO News documentary, "The Fight for the Soul of Seattle". Seattle has descended into a lawless hellhole where you can commit crimes w/reckless abandon and face no charges as in the cases of the white people who were featured on CCTV being assaulted in broad daylight (nearly killed in one instance) and their offenders facing no charges in keeping w/this hideous social experiment run amok thanks to their spineless city leaders.
I agree with you on everything you said Daniel but blacks has suffer from this kind of racism from the beginning of time and still to this day . So I stand with you Daniel and the Asian Community.

More power to you. I live in L.A. and have experienced racial profiling even from a Torrance city employee at a park. I am trying to work with the assembly city office in Torrance...they are taking their time getting back with me with a incident. Even government officials don't want to deal with this social problem. A white man with walking his dog at a park said,"He is digging to China, looking straight at me". I had a choice to run or defend myself. I replied," Do you know in China they eat dogs?" The man looked stunned and walked away.
Keep strong Miye! Don’t get discouraged. The victim of “Torrance Karen” stayed strong and was able to finally get her arrested. It was way overdue but her persistence persevered.
"digging to China" is a very old phrase used in America to highlight when a dog or even a person is digging a very deep hole. It is not a racial remark. Because free speech in USA is enshrined in the constitution it is very difficult for any government official to take action against speech.
Yes, many people are "good" and non-violent. Unfortunately in this time, a lot of people aren't "good" and will protect their beliefs by any means necessary. In time, this negative behavior by those "others" will eventually become intolerable.
Please call the Cherokee County Sheriff's dept 678.493.4100 or 678.493.4200 and request that Director of Communications and Community Relations Jay Baker resign or be fired. I live near where George Floyd was killed and we need to hold racist cops accountable.
Daniel Day Kim had covid earlier on in the pandemic and he credits hydroxychloroquine and zinc for his recovery. He made a video about it if you can still see it on RU-vid.
I love his work. But the Asian community got here by being silent. Their community is where black people were in the 40s. It's time to stand together. I'm glad that the Asian community is now so tired of the bs that they're willing to work with the black community to put an end to this nonsense.
@College Knight I'm not negating any of that. But at this point we have no allies and if they can keep an open mind now that they have gotten a taste of their own indifference, then let's see what happens. I have no issue with working with them. I know that they were and still are part of the problem because their silence, but you cannot deny that at this point is, they have to admit everything the black community warned them of is absolutely true. Well, they don't have to, but having your chickens come home to roost can be rather humbling. We'll see what happens.
Want results? Ask leaders who have gone through our struggle...Latino Community, African Community, Jewish.., and now LGBT Community leaders who banded together in an effort to thwart the dislike of current events. What are we doing wrong and what do we need to do it right to get the results??? Know you rights but more importantly know the law that serves you and can protect us. I can name several groups but it’s not over until the conversation has been had. Coming together and sometimes simply breaking the boundaries within our own communities for the greater good of humanity and our nation.
You don't believe that Yahya Muslim attacked Asian elderlies? You don't believe that Antoine Watson killed the Thai grandpa? If you got a thug in your community, tell him to stay home.
JT Yeah, I highly doubt any of the crimes are due to white supremacy. Though it is weird how the vast majority of these are taking place either in the west coast or NYC. I mean is there anywhere else in the country where there’s a concentration of these attacks happening? None if not barely any from Detroit, St. Louis, Memphis? The most dangerous cities in America? It’s just weird to me.
The Lord is one for all....Everyone of us are his children...There is no difference between any of us....We are out of caste, creed, religion after death....we are all one in the end....
