We can see a person's character from the way he speaks, his expressions, his body language, etc. Go, Carlos! Prove to the world of your innocent and regain your reputation, which to some people is more valuable than life!
I remember joining MWC conference and Carlos Ghosn speaking about the Leaf being the highest selling EV at the time. He was a strong and outspoken EV believer and supporter even as far back as very early 2010s.
And Nissan completely stopped advancing their EV technology after he was ousted. The 10 years following the first Leaf the underlying technology stayed the same as others leap frog Nissan. What a shame.
The fact that he is still appearing in interviews only to clear his name even though he is not in danger anymore confirms his innocence from the Japanese charges for me.
The fact that the Japanese didn't reply with a single word on him expect things like "respect the justice and go back to Japan" proves he is innocent even more
Great interview and props to Ghosn for taking everything and still having the will to move forward. He is a strong man for speaking openly about these topics
So glad to see that Carlos Ghosn is able to still get his message out to share with the world. What happened to him was a crime. Only a man as smart and as shrewd as Ghosn could've orchestrated his escape from unjust persecution by the Japanese. Carlos - cheers to you! You accomplished so much and I for one am so glad that you are able to live a good life in Lebanon!
Japanese justice system is crazy corrupt. Once they set their sights on you, the confession rate is over 95%. And hold you for months without formal trial or charges
one of the best interviews with carlos fantastic the interviewer really totally professional i am impressed i love carlos he is so precise and to the point wunderbar nrilliant
Carlos Ghosn realized when he was CEO that the market was moving towards electric power and that Elon Musk was right and Carlos wanted to go all electric with Renault-Nissan but they were affraid of going all electric and got rid of Carlos.
The move to EV has been known for over a decade… If you think that was the sole reason for going through the lengths that they did to prosecute him, you should stick to lifting.
Carlos is clearly at his core a civil servant. He is serving the public not exactly himself. He has an aura of employee rather than an emperor. So please people come on! He is not stupid. He wants to be remunarated, financially compensated. It is his right.
Do you think it's normal he uses Nissan's money to buy himself a yacht?? And what about the house in beirut where he used to claim it's a company property? He should give it back!
@@justsomeguywithamoustachea2712 "hard earned", and yet secretly hiding under fake offshore companies where the end beneficiary is his.. SON! You are so naive and if you are lebanese, then you deserve the shitty situation in your country - all those "smart" corrupt politicians have destroyed it!!
you're a joke. Japan never said he is guilty. Even USA does the same method when they investigate suspects it's the method a lot of investigators take. "you did this didn't you? We know u did this so tell us from your mouth" ever heard this?
Really not a good interview, not much information with regard to the accusation he is facing. Most of the questions that were asked, had been asked some 10 years ago which have been posted on RU-vid.
It’s a difficult conjecture for me. I loved Ghosn for actively supporting and bringing out the GTR. I despised Ghosn for cutting costs for volume cars and making them cheaper built(especially those unreliable CVTs) I loved Ghosn for keeping the leaf project alive(The only better option then). G-Wiz was so unsafe! I despised Ghosn for merging Renault-Nissan with Mitsubishi. Looking back. All the things I loved above have lost money for the alliance. While all the things I despised have kept the companies afloat. Hell, even profitable. We have all seen CEOs do a lot worse and get away with it. Question though is… Let’s say Ghosn did underreport his compensation and that he did buy/use company property and resources for his personal benefit. Does the above outweigh all the things he has done to keep the alliance profitable and stock holders happy? I definitely DO NOT think so…. This is just an Automotive Engineer venting out his frustrations. All opinions are my own and do not reflect the views of the organization(s) I work for.
That is not the real question, the real questions are "Why have they decided to prosecute and charge him for something so small that could have been solved in board meeting?" , "And why did they do it now?"...if you follow these trails you will find the real answers to the real questions
This interview is absolutely epic! Ghosn’s command is seismic. The interviewer is no hack, believe it or not. Her delivery shifts gears faster than a one armed man in a bra factory.
And she has asked all the relevant questions from geo-politics to world economics, automobile industry, Lebanon situation and Ghosn's personal situation. She was outstanding!
for people talking about RULE OF LAW, US is strangely silent on this case. This is a clear violation of human rights, respect for human dignity and Code of Conduct of a state.
Great interview. Carlos i may you a come back in one of the top car companies leading a transition to the elecric Vehicles. I m sorry of what happened to you in Japan...We need administrators like you in my country. I send you good vibes in your fight
Carlos Ghosn and Greg Kelly are the reason highly educated European and American executive stay away from leadership role in Japan. In this case when you have an genius executive going after the #1 Toyota and the #2 Honda Auto industry in Japan... Shame on France for not fighting for Carlos!
It's more that meets the eye in what he says. When CEO of Renault it's true their profit increases by about 60% but not by being better but rather by laying off employees. The other thing he did was he paid the dealers such big bonuses that the dealers were buying the cars themselves without selling any. It's not that rosy with this guy and maybe the Japanese have realized that.
Everyday this man is not governing or managing something is a waste of his life and a waste to the world. All because of envy from some office politics.
Carlos Ghosn I always admired you, you are the only person who has achieved success in a logical and realistic way He is an authentic person by nature and nothing in this life changes him Elon Musk is just a rumor salesman. You are successful. Ironically, he is successful now and you are wanted for justice. We are in a sick time unfortunately. I am very happy when I see you in good health and excellent psychological after all that happened to you from shocks and strong blows Carlos, you are a beautiful being in every detail and you are a successful person I am loved and lucky that you have a wife and a family that loves you and some loyal friends. I am from Jordan and how much I wish to meet you and learn a lot from you. Thank you Carlos
I haven't read all the comments below. But, I really think that Ghosn-san's decisions and actions were right! It was really good for him and I could say that it was the only way for him to survive from the situation no matter any other people say because I am 100% sure that people who complain about his actions don't understand the real Japan which is nearly invisible from most people including many Japaneses and most foreigners. Needless to say, there are no fair judgements in Japan, and I guess he could have mental disorder if he didn't escape from Japan though I have no idea what was happened to him if he was not a famouse person. I am a Japanese and I have been worked in various global companies in Japan standing between Japan and other countries after I lived in US for 10 years. So, I could tell how much Japan is weired and different from other countries and a terrible country. I can tell that Japan is the furtherst country from the global world ,in short. On the other hand, I understand that there are many chances for foreigners to start or run businesses in Japan. But, I really recommend to make sure they have some ways to leave immediately from Japan if something goes wrong or some mothods to be able to get good supports to get out of troubles in Japan. I really hope that Ghosn-san will get the fair justice soon, and I really hope that he will run some businesses or work in some companies because I could tell that he is very smart person and has all necessary skills as management though I don't know his personality. On the other hand, I am very sorry that not only Ghosn-san but also many smart and skillful people are leaving and left from Japan. I hope I could work outside of Japan in the near future.
@@khaledb6580 you know, it will never change. if it changes all wrongful arrests will have to be compensated. remember the kamikaze planes, japan management goes to hell with the decision made, even discovering that these decisions were wrong. japan is a country that never accepts change. the only change it had, because after the American nuclear attack, and it only changed because of the nuclear attack. confirm with this japan will never change.
I, as a Lebanese woman, and like all Lebanese people, we are so proud of you. You are a self-made man, very clever with high morals, and this is shown clearly. I also express my respect and admiration for the smart interviewer Hadley Gamble who once hosted former Minister Gebran Bassil, and how ashamed we felt at that time from his stupidity and his disregard for people's minds. Yes, this governing regime in Lebanon today, which is run by selfish, corrupt and irresponsible decision-makers must change, or rather it must disappear. We hope that the upcoming parliamentary elections will bring positive results, and we hope to see Carlos Ghosn as the next president of the Lebanese Republic.
The lebenese people are very special, I dont know from where or how this come. I believe that lebanese people are by nature genius, succesful people who contribute positively in every society they live in, we all can see that. To me, you’re lucky of being born lebanese. Much love to lebanon 🇱🇧❤️
You must know that he bribed gebran basil for a safe haven in lebanon so they are both the same corrupt slime in the most corrupt country in the world.
The french ditched him in the first place and that is the main reason this guy finds himself in this situation. The price you pay as an outsider upsetting the existing order.
Usually I’m not ok with rich CEOs escaping the authorities but im willing to make an exception here. The fact that the Nissan board have yet to face the same punishment for the same crimes and get to keep their jobs is already proof of how biased and corrupt the justice system is in Japan.
Ms Hadley Gamble, most probably, could do a great movie actress. Speaking on the topic, Carlos Ghosn, no matter how personally greedy he is, he is the one who saved Nissan 20 + years ago. I've lived in Japan from 1998 for about 20 years and have been seeing this development from inside. And comments about Japanese justice system are mostly true. Once you are deteriorating from category of "obedient", then punishments could be really stiff.
Good interview, thank you. The comment Mr. Ghosn made about the attitude towards CEO income is, I think, more or less true for all of Europe. It's probably worse in France, yet this attitude exists all over leftish - liberal Europe. I'm convinced it will kill Europe in the end, if we are not killed by all the ridiculous rules from Brussels first! If I was in my thirties I would leave Europe for good!
Ghosn was hailed as a hero in Japan, until Japanese media did their best to destroy his reputation with comical depictions of him being the thief of thieves. Totally unfounded charges levied on this innocent man who raised the global car industry from the brink, and reinvigorated Nissan, Mitsubishi, Renault, and other big companies worldwide. He is an innovator, like Nikolas Tesla, and Galileo. Imagine what he would have done with electric cars had companies not colluded to keep the status quo. They also raided his overseas home in Lebanon without permission of him, or the Lebanese government. There was heat because he brought an unorthodox way of innovation, a way that was more international-minded, and not isolationist, not Japanese. Companies all over Japan are struggling, it took one internationally minded man to achieve financial success, hint, hint.
Didn't some western ex special forces guys get set down in Japan for it? The Japanese government must have been really throwing their toys out the pram.
I hope, but am sure Carlos has identified the parallel between his treatment by Nissan and that of Octav Botnar, after he challenged their decision to terminate his UK distribution agreement.
I have admired him as a brilliant businessman for years. That's how a leader sounds, Unfortunately the quagmire and obfuscation of politics is not for someone like Carlos.
