I think the jury composition is very significant, as I see it, it tips in Trump’s favour. The mistake was to give information about their « vocation « because it might lead to their identification. But then , this too makes me think Trump will walk away free

The reporters were previously given information on where they worked and some of them abused that, so the Judge disallowed it. I think it will be difficult to identify people with “investment banker” to be the only thing they have to go on.

They were initially releasing the name of each juror's current and previous employer, which was a dead give away. Disclosing occupations is still somewhat of a risk but it's also fairly standard practice.

@@-Deena. Nope what? The hospital of the original juror number two, who was an oncology nurse, was disclosed & she was contacted by family & friends who knew she worked there. She came in the next day & said she no longer thought she could be impartial. If you look at any previous high profile trial coverage you'll see that the occupations of jurors are discussed. I understand this case is not just any high profile case, the implications & risks are extremely elevated. I'm also not agreeing that it's the best way to protect involved parties, but it's less information than previously offered & follows the judge's order.

Trump’s criminal trial ordered reporters to not disclose employment information about potential jurors after he excused a woman who said she was worried about her identity becoming known... Moments later, Justice Merchan ordered the press to not report the answer to two queries on a lengthy questionnaire for prospective jurors: “Who is your current employer?” and “Who was your prior employer?” Per the AP: "Besides his order about employment history, Merchan said he was asking the media to “simply apply common sense and refrain from writing about anything that has to do, for example, with physical descriptions.”

Congratulations to the judge for his efficient paneling off the jury. It was very smart of him not to question the large number of people who felt they might be biased. It was also very admirable for those perspective jurors to admit their bias and to be excused. Best wishes to the jury that they will be able to render a verdict based on the evidence presented to them.
