And we just watched it televised- the sheriff does not qualify. He might qualify when he loses his job but he hasn't lost his job and this judge said Well that's okay we're assuming he's going to. I work in a courtroom where people are denied public defender access all the time based on a $300 overage of income requirements
If its true what the residents are claiming that the judge had his way with the cops daughter. What would you plead? The news isnt gonna tell the truth in case you didnt know.
The guy makes 115k a year and only has a checking account? He’s either terrible with money/living outside his means, or he’s hoarding money or assets (such as gold) at his home. I call BS.
We don't know what has happened in his life Maybe he has medical bills to pay... I'm not standing up for him. But it doesn't matter if he can afford it or not - we shouldn't have to pay for it
@@RunattaIf you qualify for a public defender you are entitled to have the public defender. If you don't qualify you're entitled to pay for your own attorney. What they're saying here is that the public defender has not been appointed yet and I doubt the sheriff qualifies under the financial guidelines. It seems as though the public defender is actually there as a friend and he shouldn't be representing himself as there on behalf of the public defender. The Commonwealth stated that the public defender is not listed as the sheriff's attorney. You can't just show up in court. You have to put in an appearance
He is not broke so he should not have a public defender, tax payers should not have to pay for his defense.Any one else would not get this privilege,I’m starting to see a doubt standard here.
Bet he's not a tough guy in the county jail without a gun, but no matter what jail he's held in it's only a matter of time before everyone knows and they'll make his life miserable....life without parole...
As the old saying goes. There is a Paul Harvey version to this story. There are people in the courthouse ans police dept. Who knows damn well what is going on. It wiull come out what happened. I mean, to throw your life away to walk into a judges chambers and shoot him multiple times?? I mean whatever his reason it must be something beyond belief. Even though he should not have done that . The story will come out.
His decision wrecked his family financially. Wife has no husband now. Daughter lost father. No reason to do what he did. Zero ability to understand all the ramifications of his actions.
Now that the funeral is over, I think more will be released in weeks and months to come. In the meantime, the family, friends and community will struggle with the mess he created.
The title really should read that he pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. It will likely be undisputed at trial that he shot the judge, but his defense will probably argue that it wasn’t premeditated and hope for a conviction of a lesser-included offense.
You can't write a book as a title. Max is 100 characters but optimal is under 60. Your points are good and could easily be included in the description where 5,000 characters are allowed.
"His family is not prepared for this eventuality." He probably should have thought of that before he shot a man. He decided if he saw "X" on that judge's phone he was going to kill that man. Treat him accordingly.
THANK GOD SOMEONE IS STANDING UP FOR THEIR CHILDREN AGAINST PEDOPHILES. This nasty judge texting inappropriate messages to the sheriff's 15yo daughter. PEOPLE SHOULD GET THE WHOLE STORY BEFORE GOING OFF HALF COCKED.
MURDER is not the answer. He was THE SHERIFF. He knew the law. Typical thug vigilante mindset, and he thought he could beat the system, kill the guy, and get off scott-free.
The prosecutor is the boss 🇺🇲🫡👍👍👍 that public defender is a sad excuse of a lawyer 😅😅 ... He can't get indigentcy , yet... That public defender should be investigated for being inappropriate or breaking the law.
What they do, my sister's a bailiff, is STRONGLY discourage ambulance chasing shysters who follow big cases around and force their way in for publicity. Which really sounds like what is going on here.
I am not defending by any means what he did. but everybody is talking about how much he makes, etc. But what about his family? Is it fair that her family loose their home etc because of what he did? Obviously this people dont think about the consecuences of their acts and how they affect their love ones. Anybody can loose their mines when it comes to sexual abuse of their child. If thats the case? We dont know for sure. I feel bad for both families.
He have pension and he has a house. Unless he did this bcuz the judge was a criminal. Its hard to tell from all the stories. Put your home up bud!! Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for you!
As a resident, it's starting to feel like Kentucky's wanting some national, "look how crazy we are" attention..... First Couch, and now this..... Can't we all just get along? 😁
For what reason? There is NO proof the allegations about the sheriffs daughter are true. In fact, in being interviewed by KSP, his daughter has denied the allegations.
That was never said or implied. They do not want to PAY for his defense if he can pay it himself. And that is normal. He owns a home, he can pay for it himself by putting up his home as collateral
The judge is walking a legal tightrope here. Everything has to be letter perfect. He can not show preferred treatment or appear to be vindictive. On Tuesday he will decide if a PD is justified or that he must get outside council. It's a death penalty case, so he might get a big-time firm on _pro bono._
Nah, Sheriff! You have made, and STILL make enough money to pay for your own attorney. The citizens of your county paid you a GOOD salary, so you got it!😂💯
It is about time Katy and Tapper has been called on the carpet about her and others in the MSM media and their ridiculous silly partisan coverage of Trump. Thank you so much for reporting this much needed call out! Kudos to Nancy!
None of us actually know why he shot that judge. I've seen posts that say the judge was abusive to this daughter. If that is true, then yes, he is not guilty of murder. I call it self defense.
WTH? you have to be indigent to get a court appointed attorney. The attorney does not get to decided that he is eligible! And why not guilty when you did it? WTH?
