Every single wrestler here is memorable from Openers, Jobbers, Mid-Carders, Main Eventers to Legends! One of the best Rumbles in general and of this Era!
Man, just look at the amount of star power in this match. Undertaker, HHH, Orton, Jericho, RVD, and many more. It's crazy to think that this match is 15 years old now

23:33 is such an underrated Rumble moment. the entire ring literally stops what they're doing to face the Deadman when they hear the gong, such a cool moment.

In my opinion, the greatest Royal Rumble in History!! Lots of big stars and the chemistry was incredible. I don't think any other Rumble was ever more interesting than this one!
Easy Top 5 Royal Rumble by itself. As a whole, the only thing stopping me from calling it the best is that Randy went on to lose his world title match, that too in an underwhelming WM main event. I call 2001 the best- Records were made, entertaiment value was high (the only hardcore rumble), roster was the best and it also had the greatest aftermath, leading to the best WM (17), best main event (Austin vs Rock) and the eventual end of the Attitude Era.
I haven't seen wrestling in years but god damn you have to really give Rey Mysterio props for his athleticism. It's literally watching talent at it's peak in this profession
@@AmitSaraswat Shad Gaspard. He passed away trying to save his son and told the lifeguard to save his son over him. That's what a parent is. Willing to put your child's life over your own life.
One of the best Rumbles of the 2000s from my point of view. Orton starts his awesome 2009 year by winning it, Rey Mysterio’s incredible length, Santino breaking The Warlord record and so on…
It really was. Not easy to run into the ring, then immediately back flip over the ropes (still impressive even with the push assist), then roll to break the fall into getting up to deliver the "I wasn't ready" line. Titus botching what was also supposed to be a quick elimination in a different rumble shows that it takes skill to succeed at failing so hard.
23:38 "Well there's no guess work, when the lights go out and you hear that music. Walking down the road to Wrestlemania, right down the double line, is the man that's never lost at Wrestlemania." JR had such a way with wrods.
Can we appreciate the opening participants during the first half of the rumble. The moves, reversals, the finish. Especially Carlito's moonsault on John Morrison.💯💯
14:07 "Randy Orton needs to be the winner of this Royal Rumble" When you accidentally give away the winner of the rumble 45 minutes before the end and hope nobody notices.
Probably my favorite Royal Rumble ever! I miss a lot of this guys (so many talents and stars) and miss that time too. I hope this year's Royal Rumble can be very good.
Are you like 12? Most fans hated 2009 when it was happening and it’s been called one of the worst years in WWE history. The guest hosts and PG rating being the main reasons. Wrestlemania was also a dud.
Wow! One of my favorite Royal Rumbles. It was also my graduation year from high school and I was watching WWE heavily during this time. I def gonna point this out. Mysterio's Gear for this night was Money! Half Gold and White is such an underrated combo for color pairing. Also, Randy's 1st Rumble win was definitely a hell of a choice! He was a nightmare to face off against during this period! That Running Punt Kick was scary to witness folks getting taken out with that attack
The booking of this Rumble was world class. Randy Orton was on the verge of being kayfabe fired for all of his shenanigans against the McMahon and he went out and won the Rumble basically securing his job and continuing his tirade on the McMahons, loved seeing DiBiasse and Cody make the final 4 as well! Legacy had a great 2 year stretch that almost never gets talked about
Man, i grew up watching the best preform man. 2004- 2009 was like prime, some good stuff later on in the years to but all them old school people I'm seeing in the ring
They had to do it out of censorship because someone bled. Apparently Undertaker. I'm not used to the black and white filtering for that reason, but I understand why and I have to get used to it...
The 2009 Royal Rumble was an excellent Royal Rumble match I really liked this match a great match and Randy Orton is a legend in the world of wrestling and WWE I love him he is one of my favorites ever and in WWE I love him 🔥🔥🔥🖤🖤🖤
I like how as The Undertaker is walking down to the ring, all the other superstars stop fighting and huddle together against the ropes. Like they're scared of him.
The version of Orton from 2009 to 2014 was so sick. He won the rumble, was the MITB winner and had a fantastic fued with John Cena in that timespan!! One o the greatest of all time and a surefire Hall of Famer!
About half of this match being in black and white killed any chance of me watching this rumble. Owned it on DVD back in the day, rather watch it that way
That's good! Taker was busted open. If they didn't out the black and white filtering over the video, you'd never be able to watch the full thing as RU-vid will flag it otherwise
