It's the second half that's epic. Incredible how far rugby has come since then, just prior to the professional era. Even the change in the ball is really noticeable, the big heavy leather lump took a huge thump to get down the paddock.

Man, i was so blessed to HV seen so many of OUR GREATS, JK WAS A PHENOM, HE WAS TO ME DA FIRST TO RUN 100MTR TRYS, SIR MICHAEL JONES, FREEK ABSOLUTE FREEK, FITZY, REVOLUSENISED LINE OUTS, n SCRUMS, STEVE McDowell was mobile props, PROTOTYPE OF HIS ERA, ZINNY, WOOOOHHOOO, I CULD GO ON FOR EVA, I LOVE DIS GAME

If my memory serves me correct Shaw belts one of the Englishman on the sideline and the ABs run away with it in the 2nd half! ABs brutal in the rucks!

That's right, around halfway right on the Millard stand touchline. Shaw cracks someone then Wade Dooley charges in and cracks Shaw. Dalton is running around after yelling at his forwards to "Get out of it!!"

I was at this match, watching from the Millard stand. Our view was pretty much the same as what you see in this TV footage. Rubbish first half but the AB's cranked it up in the second half. England were surprisingly good in some areas. The loose forwards, locks and back three, well Harrison at least. Wade Dooley came on as a replacement, I think it was his first test. He cracked Mark Shaw a beauty after Shaw had cracked one of Poms.

What a mess the game was at this point. The scrums, line outs and tackled ball areas were pretty much free for alls with a lot of “play” off the ball. I’m of that era but I’m surprised at the lack of ball-handling skill compared to more recently. While the tackled ball area remains a problem in the modern game, the stoppages have been replaced by phase play.
